Now as far as Key West, we'll be happy to be tour guides! (I know, this is mostly in the newsletter, who do you think did the geek side of the setup the website? Mary's the creative one, I know the nuts and bolts. )

I'd recommend first:

-The Key West Trolley Tour - http://www.historictours.com/keywest/ I recommend going to the website and getting tickets yourself- if you do this thru DCL it is strictly a tour. If you do it yourself, it's more of a tour shuttle bus, there are stops all around the island and you can get on/off as much as you want.

Then, The Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservancy (same link as above) This is a fun way to pass an hour. Lots and lots of butterflies.

While you're down there, get a pic at the southernmost point, it's right around the corner.

Now you can take a leisurely walk back up Duvall towards the port and spend a little time at the Key West Aquarium. (again, same link as above) It's right next to the port, and they do live feedings of the sharks and stingrays. lots of fun.

There you go, instant tour. :teeth:

Thanks Mark..........do you have any comments regarding the glassbottom boat tour?

So most of us have cruised DCL before, but there is always something new to learn. In surfing around this morning I found one of my favorite DCL items. The Magical Disney Cruise Guide. I found this online when we were planning our first 7 day cruise and it was a lifesaver. It has since moved over to Deb Wills site and continues to be updated. The latest update was September of this year. It is 85 pages of great information.

To get to the pdf click here

Enjoy!

Thanks Mary..........I saved it to read a little later.

Should have read it last night while I was up listening to DS cough from 01:00 to 04:00.

:( Good Grief! It took me 45 minutes to get on here this morning!
Funny thing is, after all that waiting, I have absolutely nothing to say!!

GOOD MORNING!!!

That's a start.

Now that I waited so long, I need to jump in the shower and head out. Vote, get my nails done, pick up a prescription, and go to the office.

Thanks for updating the list, GaRry!
And for the reminder of the Magical Cruise Guide, Mary. Guess I'll have a look and see what's new. I actually printed it all out a couple of years ago! But it is great!

Virgil...a young fellow who used to work for us, and has started his own business, plasma cutting, is now renting from us, and we've been working on some projects together....anyway.....he and his wife had a baby girl Friday. They named her Frances. Frances Rowan (which is the exact opposite of Brooke Shields' baby, Rowan Frances) They were talking about what to call her and one of our employees said he was going to call her Frankie. I told him they should call her Fancy. He liked that a lot!

Okay....off and running.....GO VOTE!!

Stacey

Good morning everyone... Happy Election Day to all our American cruisers... We will be anxiously watching the news for the results tonight ...

I thought I'd jump in with a joke, too...

I recently picked a new primary care physician.

After two visits and exhaustive lab tests, he said I was doing "fairly well" for my age.
A little concerned about that comment, I couldn't resist asking him, "Do you think I'll live to be 80?"
He asked, "well, do you smoke tobacco or drink beer or wine?"
"Oh no", I replied. "I've never done either.
Then he asked, "Do you eat rib-eye steaks and barbecued ribs?"
I said, "No, I heard that all red meat is very unhealthy."
"Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing golf / sailing /ballooning / motorcycling / rock climbing?"
"No I don't", I said.
He said, "Do you gamble, drive fast cars, or sexually fool around?"
"No", I said. "I have never done any of those things."
He looked at me and said, "Then why do you give a damn if you live to be 80?"

Good Luck everyone with their choice today at the voting booth.

I must admit I have been stuck on CNN the last month to get the updates on the election.
I also watched most of the debates.

The results should be very interesting to say the least..........

Which guy is better for Canada?

Don't answer that....I am just thinking out loud.

I know, never talk about sex, religion or politics.

Have a great day everyone.

Gus

Stacey............sent you a PM

Here's another one that might help the men in our group...

WORDS WOMEN USE

FINE: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

FIVE MINUTES: If she is getting dressed, this is half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given 5 more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

NOTHING: This is the calm before the storm. This means "something," and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with 'Nothing' usually end in "Fine".

GO AHEAD: This is a dare, not permission. Don't do it.

LOUD SIGH: This is not actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A "Loud Sigh" means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you over "Nothing".

THAT'S OKAY: This is one of the most dangerous statements that a woman can make to a man. "That's Okay" means that she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

THANKS: A woman is thanking you. Do not question it or faint. Just say "You're welcome".

Have a great day...
Ann

Oh yes, very slow boards today. Hope I can post this before they crash.

Annie, you're giving away our secrets! :p

Stacey, Fancy is a really cute nickname, hope they use it. Tried to talk DH into "Lacey" as a nickname for DD, it didn't fly.

The boards are slow..............................

Mary........thanks for the link. I'm printing out the newest version now.

Mark-thanks for the info on Key West, am passing on to my family.

:D I VOTED FIRST THING THIS MORNING. NUMBER 52 IN MY PRECINCT. ONLY HAD TO WAIT ABOUT 5 MINUTES!!! In any case, I'll be glad when the election is over and we can move forward.

Okay............................................

THE INCREDIBLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, Jamie hosted the sneek preview for the premiere last night for Disney Radio. Can I just tell you...........the movie was great, awesome, fantastic, cool, funny, hysterical, etc. etc. etc. A MUST SEE!!!!! I'd give it 3 1/2 to 4 stars (out of 4). Anyway, try to catch it when it comes out, it is well worth it. In fact, probably need to go see it again.

Don't know how often I'll check the boards today, doing month end, and they are so slow this morning. Have a great day everyone.

Linda

Good Morning All!

Off to work late today. I get to spend 16 hours or more at our local Republican headquarters. Sounds like fun, huh? Hopefully they will have some decent food!

Hopefully everyone has a good election day!

Has anyone here ever done laundry on the cruise? (Leave it to the mom to ask!!!) Just wonderin' if we're better off to pack less and do laundry to have EXTRA room to bring back more stuff!!!!!!

Also, even tho we'll be in the tropics, do you think we still need to bring coats? I'm struggling with what clothes to bring, seeing as we will be leaving the iceman-cometh of Wisconsin......

Christine

Christine, welcome! I'm just getting to the newbies since I was gone last week.

I always do laundry on vacation. I just can't face the mountains of it when I get home! I usually take the laundry tablets and some fabric sheets with me. One thing I learned on our first cruise was to take something with me to collect all the laundry. 2nd cruise I took a camp laundry bag, but I might bring one of the collapsable hampers this time. The laundry bags don't do well to bring the folded stuff back to your cabin.

We're doing a couple of days at WDW before the trip, and so we're taking some fleece jackets (sort of like heavy sweatshirts). I don't think we'll need them on the cruise, but Port Canaveral can get kind of nippy. If you don't want to bother with jackets, then maybe just pack a sweatshirt and layer it over something.

Anyway, that's my 2cents worth. Glad you've joined us!

A man in a hot air balloon realized he was lost. He reduced altitude and spotted a man below. He descended a bit more and shouted, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him half an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."
The man below replied, "You are in a hot air balloon hovering approximately 30 feet above the ground. You are between 40 and 42 degrees north latitude and between 58 and 60 degrees west longitude."

"You must be an engineer," said the balloonist.

"I am," replied the man, "but how did you know?"

"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to make of your information, and the fact is I am still lost."

The man below responded, "You must be a manager."

"I am," replied the balloonist, "how did you know?"

"Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are or where you are going. You made a promise which you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. The fact is you are exactly in the same position you were in before we met, but now, somehow, it's my fault."

I can soooo relate.

::yes::

Jenny, I love this joke! When I first moved onto my current program, my lead engineer was exactly like this! He used to constantly tell me that I was making bad decisisions he was going to have to fix for me. Funny, he's not here anymore, and all of his gloom and doom predictions DIDN'T happen! After the third day of tirades, I reminded him that I was an engineer too, so he didn't need to patronize me!

Stace-when do you sleep?????

Okay, I'm outta here for the day. Jamie is working for Radio Disney tonight. She is doing her last (boo hoo) movie premiere for the year for The Incredibles!

At least we get another free movie out of it!!!!!!

Then she has to do Disney on Ice; Interview new kids for the 2005 Kid Caster; and then her last final rah, rah, is she gets to meet and introduce Aaron Carter on Dec. 12 for a concert. I told them that would work, just count us out after Dec. 16 until the 29th.

Then the New Year's Noon Countdown show on Dec. 31. Okay, so much for the year worth of freebies. They could have at least given us a free Disney Cruise for all the hard work she did!!!!!!

Linda

Linda,I'll have to tell DD about Jamie's job. I know she's going to want to sign up for it! She used to have the biggest crush on Aaron Carter!

I've been trying to guess which movies will be playing on the cruise. I'm assuming the Incredibles, and also the new Treasure Hunter movie with Nicholas Cage. What do you think?

Wow, THANKS! Sending the link to my parents to see if they'd be interested. My dad has bum knees and my mom is sort of slow now-a-days b/c of some stenosis in her spine, so the trolly sounds like the way to go!! It will give us more flexibility depending on how they feel. :)

Karen, we were planning on this with my inlaws. We did it on our first western, and it was nice. The train is a bit more entertaining, but it doesn't stop as often, and I think once you're on it, you have to get back on the same one. The trolley has several stops, and you can just get back on any trolley if you want to shop for a while.

As I recall, the website Mark gave has a discount coupon you can print out as well.

thanks for the welcomes! we are either one deck 6 or 8 also. however i'm not sure because we were on one and now we're on the other because we changed our room. so i can't rememer if we were on 6 and now are on 8 or if we were on 8 and now we're on 6. i'll have to find out i guess! haha

sugaswim, welcome to the group! Where in Maryland do you live? We're having a couple of DC area meets this weekend. I'm meeting with dobelover (Sue) and glenelgmom (Charlotte) up at the Washingtonian Center off I-270 around mid-day. Then I'm stopping by Tysons Corner in the evening and hooking up with Tinkfan (Tina). If either of those would work out, drop me a pm, and I'll get you more info.

Of course, I actually need to establish meeting times/places with everyone don't I? I'll think on that some today and send pm's tomorrow (I'll call Charlotte if she's not back up tonight!)

Anyway sugaswim, welcome to the group!

We sure are hoping that Disney shows it on the ship...we love seeing movies on the ship, and we save on the cost of the tickets. We have the Disney Visa, but the preview day conflicted with other plans, so we had to forego the freebie preview. Looking forward to seeing it, though! Thanks for letting us know Linda!

BTW, still searching for a pet sitter. Thanks so much for all of the ideas. Unfortunately, we really don't know anyone with kids the right age range to take on this responsibility, and we aren't really affiliated with any churches, so those options may be out. I have emailed every pet sitter in the area I could find, and I will be giving follow-up calls to those who haven't responded later today. I'll keep you all posted on the results...

Cheers, Kara

Finally!!! I have been trying to get on the boards for 2 hours.

Stacey - the DH(as in Dr. Husband :p ) told me there was not really anything I could do for my finger. I wanted to know what good is he then. He said it's not broken so I probably just hurt the soft tissue and the best thing in Motrin and continue to use it so it doesn't get stiff. I told him I hope I don't get a bill for that information cause I probably could have figured that out all by myself.

Gus - I am going to add my 2 cents on the sign-in/out priviledges. Several years ago when my oldest was 10 we were on the Wonder and we allowed her sign-in/out priviledges. But she did have restrictions which included: she could only go to the cabin, pool, or game room and we had to know where she was at all times. Now as a teenager, she roams the ship and I never know where she is unless I see her, or it is dinner time. :p It was never a problem and worked out great. I do have to agree that you have to take the individual child into account and everyone should make their own decision. I hope this helps.

Gotta go, but I will try to check in later. I already voted so at least that is out of the way.

I was barely sitting down when I heard a voice from the other stall saying:
"Hi, how are you?"

I'm not the type to start a conversation in the restroom but I don't know what got into me, so I answered, somewhat embarrassed,
"Doin' just fine!"

And the other person says:
"So what are you up to?"

What kind of question is that? At that point, I'm thinking this is too bizarre so I say:
"Uhhh, I'm like you, just traveling!"

At this point I am just trying to get out as fast as I can when I hear another question.
"Can I come over?"

Ok, this question is just too weird for me but I figured I could just be polite and end the conversation. I tell them,
"No........I'm a little busy right now!!!"

Then I hear the person say nervously...

"Listen, I'll have to call you back. There's an idiot in the other stall who keeps answering all my questions!!!":chat:

Yes, I am very busy here at work today, but this one called my name too!

When DS was about 4 or 5, we were eating at a local steakhouse (kind of like a Ponderosa). He had to go to the bathroom, and DH took him in. DS walked up to a stall and pushed open the door. There was a young teen boy sitting there, taking care of business. DS immediately says "Hi, my names Casey, what's your name?" The other boy says is embarassed to death, and tells DS, "Shoo!" DH moves DS over to another stall and tries to shush him, but nothin doing. DS says "Nice to meet you Shoo. We're here for dinner, are you here for dinner too?" and so on and so on!

When they made it back to the table, DH was purple he was laughing soooo hard! That poor boy probably never went into another public bathroom for as long as he lived!

Linda, I'm pretty sure this will be showing on the cruise. So you don't have to pay extra to see it again. Besides what you already paid for the cruise, that is.
