I was barely sitting down when I heard a voice from the other stall saying:
"Hi, how are you?"

I'm not the type to start a conversation in the restroom but I don't know what got into me, so I answered, somewhat embarrassed,
"Doin' just fine!"

And the other person says:
"So what are you up to?"

What kind of question is that? At that point, I'm thinking this is too bizarre so I say:
"Uhhh, I'm like you, just traveling!"

At this point I am just trying to get out as fast as I can when I hear another question.
"Can I come over?"

Ok, this question is just too weird for me but I figured I could just be polite and end the conversation. I tell them,
"No........I'm a little busy right now!!!"

Then I hear the person say nervously...

"Listen, I'll have to call you back. There's an idiot in the other stall who keeps answering all my questions!!!":chat:

Dh has information that says it's ok to give FluMist to anyone over age 1.

Your DH may have "off-lable use" and / or recent studies info, but the CDC party line, which was also on the annoying piece of paper I had to sign, is as follows:
Who can be vaccinated with the nasal-spray flu vaccine (LAIV)?
LAIV is approved for use in healthy people between the ages of 5 and 49 years.

Updated Dec 10, 2003
Who should not be vaccinated with the nasal-spray flu vaccine (LAIV)?

People less than 5 years of age
People 50 years of age and over
People with a medical condition that places them at high risk for complications from influenza, including those with chronic heart or lung disease, such as asthma or reactive airways disease; people with medical conditions such as diabetes or kidney failure; or people with illnesses that weaken the immune system, or who take medications that can weaken the immune system.
Children or adolescents receiving aspirin
People with a history of Guillain-Barré syndrome, a rare disorder of the nervous system
Pregnant women
People with a history of allergy to any of the components of LAIV or to eggs

I'm just the messanger, don't shoot me! :teeth:

Toooooo funny!!! Who calls while they are using the rest room? Once I was on the phone with some company and ds needed help in the bathroom and he flushed while I was in there. I was MORTIFIED. Of course, I tried to explain to the rep what the TRUTH was, but I think she thought I was just making it up to save face!

Won't shoot ya. I only know this b/c after your helpful information this morning about FluMist and TamiFlu, I asked dh if we had enough to cover everyone. So I had to check his Palm Pilot to find out the dose and in there he had written: Ages 1+

Don't know where he gets his info. :)

OOPS! I just reread this.....

Sorry, it was the TAMIFLU that I was looking up that said Ages 1+, not FluMist.
Sorry for any confusion. I need a vacation.

Dh just called, said probably no paycheck next week b/c of their money thing going on at the office! GRRRRR  So I'm re-organizing all of my bills to figure out who REALLY needs to be paid. Guess I shouldn't have waited until 10/15 to slap the balances of two Christmas cruises on the VISA, huh?

Ok, I must know...Did this really happen to you or is this one of your jokes? I may be confusing fastasy with reality here. :)
Btw, the kids thought it was a HOOT!

Sorry, I should have specified - that's just how the joke started. I haven't had that happen to me yet. I don't think I would answer some strange person who was talking to me while I did my business.

There were a bunch of sites a "few" pages back. Just be careful - one give questionable names (mine was Long Dong Silver).

I found them - they started around page 797. I hope that helps. I think tinksdad posted the questionable site.

Virgil, our family has been having a discussion about you and we were going to hold off, but this post just begs our question.

We want to know how in the world do you manage to be so active on this board, and other boards, watch for all the tops....Our impression of ER Docs is that time is very tough to find, but here you are always stealing the tops.

Help us out and explain to DS and DD how you manage to do this?

We are impressed and just want to know your secret.

Hmmmm - you're talking about me????

LOL

Luckily, It's not like "ER" (the TV show) most of the time... There tends to be a fair amount of down time. I may walk into the ER and find 4 patients in the back waiting to be seen and anywhere from 5-10 out front waiting for a bed. I'll see those 4 fairly quickly - get things started on them - and then have to wait for x-rays and labs. The limiting factors is always having open beds to put the patients in. We have a fairly high acuity (sick patients) so putting minor things in the hallway is hard to do.

I'm also pretty good at multi-tasking.... I'll start to post... take a phone call... look at labs/x-rays.... admit/discharge the patient and then finish the post....I hate just sitting there doing nothing....Last night - I didn't see any patients from 3am-5am... then saw 4 from 5a-7a... I saw 27 total in my 9 hour shift......

We're pretty good at getting patients in and out. Our census was 31,000 when I took over 2 1/2 yrs. ago and we'll be at 42,000 this year. Our total ER time (door to discharge) is about 3 hrs for all of our patients... admissions take a little bit longer.....

Hope that explains it..... Be assured - that the patients come first....

Antibiotics are useless against viruses. Flu is caused by a virus. TamiFlu is an antiviral that specifically works against the flu viruses.

Edited to say: I didn't mean to sound harsh, I'm running around like crazy this AM. SORRY!!!!!!!!

Oops...sorry...guess I was thinking about the kind of bugs and germs that you can pick up in less developed countries!
