Jenny,
No offense taken.....it is near impossible to offend me....
We just talk about drinking alot here! ;)

The margarita..."plain" as in, virgin...some people refer to a "plain" margarita being the lime flavor, as opposed to whatever other flavors you can come up with. ???

People will tell you that you'll get sick (more hung over) from the sweet drinks, but in my years of study ( and trust me...there were some years....) I didn't find this to be true.
The "alcohlo-y" tasting drinks are going to be the ones with whiskey in them....and I guess any other that has alcohol...unless it's got flavor...like a strawberry daiquiri...or a margarita...or the "tropical" drinks on the ship. Anything with coconut in it is yukky, IMO....(pina colada)....
Maybe order a drink with a flavor you like and request half the alcohol....

Thanks Stacey for the info. I was just in a cruise state of mind and was just trying to get some info. That and I'm bored at work...:smooth:

I believe there are federal laws (not just state) that require that service dogs be allowed any where the public is allowed.

Yep, It's called the ADA The ADA was passed 12 years ago. In California it's California Penal Code 365.5.

In the lobby of a motel you just get into a shouting match. If you call the police, you MAY get assistance. In any case you and your luggage are tired, hungry, frustrated and MAD and roomless. When you get home from your vacation you can think about legal proceedings, if this happens to be a state that provides penalties. THE ADA DOES NOT... If the incident happened in a state that you do not live in...good luck. Maximum penalty in California is $4000.

Stacey, I bet you don't like coconut cream pie, either! Now see, I like coconut drinks. I started my drinking career with rum and coke. Sweet drink for sweet girls. You WILL get a hangover if you mix drinks. Last year on our cruise I tried having a cosmopolitan before dinner with wine. Had a headache the entire next day.

Margaritas are basically tequila, triple sec, and lime juice. Everything else is extra. We like ours with a little beer, but have found that two of us can no longer finish off a pitcher at home.

I knew there were laws. Just wasn't sure exactly who enforces them. I don't think I'd want to stay at a hotel/motel that I had to call the police to get assistance getting a room at anyway. I would just look for somewhere else to stay. I know it's the principle of the thing, but would you really be able to enjoy your stay there if you were worried about some kind of "retailiation"?

T.O.P.

So does anybody here watch the Today show? Have you seen the Today Throws a Wedding segment? Well, my DH does computer work for one of the couples that did one of the cakes. It's kind of a strange looking wedding cake.
Hi Red..
I do and I did....I liked the cheesecake tower but I give a blue ribbon to the one made by the company in Anguilla.....YUMMMM!

Is that the one that's a turqoisey color with a "tropical" theme?

Well, on a practical note..that is called intimidation. Some people are affected by it.

On another practical note, so what are you going to do?

You've just gotten off a cruise ship and taken a handi-shuttle, like SuperShuttle, to the hotel. You have no car because you cannot transport your scooter by yourself, not to mention, luggage, dog and all. Boo Hoo. You have to play it out, which means hauling out the personal telephone number of your ADAGuy so he can yell and scream and fix things. Retaliation? Grrr. By this time the hotel would be on a list. But payback in the form of an on-site inspection for ADA compliance is only effective in a state where there are penalties for non-compliance. Look at it this way...When I show up with Cash at a resort, a shuttle bus, a business, or...there is , more often than not, a confrontation. Every time...Sometimes the cops are the bad guys, too.

I don't back down. I'm no longer that sweet little innocent, trusting princess: that I used to be.....Four years of using a Service Dog ...And it's LEGAL!

Enough...I'm taking out the trash now...

I didn't necessarily mean retailiation because of your handicap. I was talking about those "minor" inconveniences a hotel can put you through. No hot water, a dirty bathroom, etc. I didn't think you'd be the type to let people walk all over you, but sometimes you have to decide if it's worth it.

By the way Lynda - I hope you don't think I'm picking on you or anything. I'm just curious and trying to say why I would or wouldn't do something (I AM the type to back down).

Nah, life's too short... I rarely get great service, anyway. I can see from reading these boards, and other cruise boards that good customer service is hard to find...why I cruise Disney.. good service. I don't bark at the help or make a mess or ask for more than what my fellow vacationers get, access is a specialty item, unless someone crosses the line.....

A shuttle driver at the hospital refused to take me and Cash up the hill to the entrance until I stated flatly that it was illegal not to. My fellow time share owners at the Summer Bay Resort near WDW had a habit of pulling their vehicles up so far in the parking spaces that the sidewalk was covered and I had to ride my scooter in the street. One day I had just reached the curb cut that joined the walkway to my condo and the guy next door had blocked it by parking his MONSTROUSLY long truck across the walk and my batteries died. No going back, over, around so I took my little fist and knocked noisily on the fender until someone got curious. When they found him he said he had parked that way so the back of his truck would not stick out so far into the lot. ( He couldn't find a bigger parking space?) When I mentioned the sidewalk problem to the timeshare coordinator he said they would fix it. Did they? I don't know...not while I was there...I vote with my feet. If I get poor service (I'm cynical but I'm not paranoid, by the way)I figure everyone's getting poor service, but I don't go back and then I tell all 70,000+ friends on the DISboards that there's a problem they might want to avoid. I also can complain, regardless of whether or not there was any big to-do about Cash, or...originally.

I don't like the way I've come to expect problems and, even more, I don't like the frequency of them...I mean, in this day and age who does not recognize a service dog? If I cannot get into my hotel room because of the automatic door closing mechanism I ask engineering to remove the hydraulic arm. I demonstrate the possibility of damage to the door, and/or myself and ask for a reasonable accommodation, which is removal of the arm. Sometimes I have to be assertive (POR at WDW resisted for some reason and gave me a hard time) but I have never felt any retaliation...not good PR... for them. AARGH...This pirate understands chain of command...I know of many people who don't care for confrontation (Hi, Mom) but I just have this thing about justice.... I lived for 20 years expecting to be treated like a human and, as far as I know, I wasn't supposed to lose points just because I got sick at 21.

That's why I was asking you about it. I'm curious by nature, and I tend to ask a lot of questions (sometimes I get a little too personal). I know you're passionate about it, and you know a lot about it, so I want to learn.

Lynda......I rarely back down either, especially if I think I am right.

My DW calls me a "polite A**hole"
