Well, it's good to be back. I must say there's no place like home.
Yeah, right, and if you believe that, I have a bridge I'll sell ya.
Penthouse Suite.....1700+ sq feet....TWO goodie baskets, bottles of wine (corked), fresh flowers every day, all food and drink paid for, orchids on the bed at turn-down every night, chocolates, facials ( and I didn't fall asleep), free Phil Collins tickets, limo transportation everywhere....a GREAT dinner party...and a surprise.
I wasn't too much of a loser.
My host had invited Jay & I to go up this weekend just for fun. He had called and left a message on my cell last week that there was a tournament also, but limited to 50 of their top slot players from all over the country. There were people from Japan, England, Australia, & all over the U.S. So....I was only an alternate in case some big wig didn't show. Simply because we were there. It was a weird tournament anyway, and I told Jay that I didn't care if I was in it or not. They started playing on Thursday at 4:00 a.m. You just put your card in the machines and played whatever you wanted, with the idea of racking up as many points as possible. We didn't even get there until noon on Friday, so I knew I would have been way behind in points anyway.
Well, some didn't show, so they added me in. But I still was only in it for the fancy dinner & gifts, I had way too late a start. I only gambled 5 hours between Friday when we got there, and the 2 p.m. cut off on Saturday. The first gift they gave me was a set of Bose Headphones, some new things that block out outside noise or some such thing. They're neat, in a nice case. I saw them in the Sky Mall magazine, but forgot to look to see what they cost.
Anyway...we went to the award dinner. It was the nicest spread I have ever seen. I can't even begin to describe it. The food was great....there was one waiter/waitress for every two people. They had what you needed before you even knew you needed it.
The band was great, the doctor next to me (from North Carolina) and I were singing along while his wife & my hubby were looking for somewhere to hide.
They did the "awards" in tiers. They began to call the names of people who had won the lowest tier amount, and I was smiling and clapping politely, knowing I wouldn't get called......and they called my name! I looked at Bobby, my host, because I told him I had hardly played......oh well. I went up on stage and discovered my "prize" for that was $2000! Jay about fell over. Not a ton of money, but considering I had no idea there was even going to be a tournament until just before we left....wow!
Our gift at the table was a crystal candle dish, very unique and pretty.
After all that, they had limos just outside the banquet hall to take those of us going to see Phil Collins up to the MGM.....private entrance....great seats....horrible accoustics. It's an arena meant for sporting events...but still a great show and excellent music. All I wanted to hear was his song from Tarzan. I won a question on Mouseketeer because of that song.
So, I didn't win gambling, but then, I didn't play much. But to have such grand treatment, and walk out without having to pay for any of it.....that was cool.
Yikes....I couldn't stand it, I looked it up...those Bose headphones are $300 each! Anybody want to buy a NIB set of headphones...no reserve.....
