Goofydadeo - When our DD, who is now 15, was 11 we allowed her to have sign out privileges. We had post-it notes in the cabin and she had to leave us a note everytime she changed locations. She could only go to the club, cabin, pool, or the arcade. With the pager system, house phones, & post-it notes it really is not a problem usless you think your DS or DD might get into mischief. Our DD now has the run of the ship. She meets us for dinner every night and has a curfew but other wise I let her go. She knows that should she be caught doing something she is not supposed to be doing she is in big trouble and all the freedom will go away.

Our DS (14) has been on many DC. He now has the run of the ship and we have not had a problem. We have just a couple of simple rules: 1. Don't leave the ship 2. Don't do anything that would get me into trouble with "The Mom" (he knows there will be a price to be paid) 3. Meet us for dinner.

Having this freedom is part of his fun.

Woo Hoo! We're taking over the Wonder in '05!

Our 7th cruise was going to be the October 22nd 2005 Western to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. Those plans just changed. DVC is doing another Member Cruise! YES!!!!!!!!!!!

We did the DVC Member Cruise in 2003 and loved it! The see what fun we had back then. click here

Garry wants to get another puppy for DD. Last week he had a rescue call for a puppy that had fallen into some- thing?? Garry of course now gets pick of the litter. Just what I need another animal to take care of....that will take us to 2 cats, 2 dogs, & 4 horses (at least the horses aren't in the house)

Can we refine some of the rules?

Are there touch backs?
Can you run up to a fellow DISer on deck and tag 'em or must you only get tagged on the door of your suite?
Can you call "safety safety" or "time"?

Just trying to remember them all.

Possibly! As you know, October may be a busy month for us next year with play rehearsals. So we talked about going a bit earlier. This could be the cruise for us! Although, I'd try to talk everyone into back to backs to make it 7 days! I've emailed the info to ohiomickey.

Boy.... I keep missing all the fun! I may end up waiting until Wednesday night to finally catch up...and by then, any response I may have had will be totally lost!

Afff......you had me laughing and remembering the good old days of tag! We had a Weeping Willow tree that was "base". And you were safe on base. That tree and I were good friends!

Shark Tale was really cute....great for adults, too. It started a little slow...but got better. ANd stay till the way end of all the credits! Little kids may be scared...3 and under.

Off to bed. 8:00 a.m. doc appt for blood draw. Whoopee!
But it's the last of all my appointments.

Might not sign on in the morning...you all know that I am not an early bird.

Morning all. It was a quiet night wasn't it?

GaRry, you must post so we can see the new avitar. I'm sure it's very nice!

Karen/Doc/Vicki, you all are too funny with the *** instead of Ohio and Michigan! From my college years in Flint MI I can remember the big time rivalry. For me growing up, it was Purdue vs. Indiana University. At that time, IU was tops in basketball, but Purdue was head and shoulders above them in football, so each had their bragging rights. Things have changed a little since then .

I wasted several hours yesterday at the Verizon store. DH and I both have personal cell numbers from verizon. Then we both got work cell phones. I found out that I could put both numbers on our work phones, so we didn't have to carry two phones. Took care of that last spring. Well DH switched jobs a few weeks ago, and the old office asked for his phone back. He won't get one from the new office because he won't be travelling with the new job. Last week, we looked and looked for his old phone to get it re-activated for his personal number. Couldn't find it anywhere! So I bought him a new one over the weekend. Wouldn't you know, two days later, we opened the console in the van, and there was his phone, tucked away in the cell phone holder I didn't know was there! So I went to return the "new" phone I had just bought. Only one person in customer service. When we walked in, there were 2 people in front of us. Problem is, both people had BIG problems. No kidding, I was there 1 hour and 15 minutes before I even got to the counter! My transaction took 15 minutes. But I saved $75, so I guess maybe it was worth it???

Lisa - Small world, indeed. DH said the State park was really great for camping (until the rain hit on Saturday a.m.). Oldest DS loved the Civil War connection......especially the part about ghosts of soldiers still haunting the grounds until this very day........oooooohhh. (Sounds like campfire tales to me.)
Hey, if you're up for a Tysons Corner run between now and the cruise, let me know. We could "do lunch" and have a mini-mini meet. Surely we could think of some excuse to go shopping toether!

Stace - Good luck with the Doctor this morning. Bet you'll be glad when all those appts. are over and done!

Oooohhhh. Ok, I'm the one who just posted the other day that I HATE shopping, but I want to go to Tysons Corner!!!! I found out there is a llbean store there and I'm dying to go!

The curriculum that we use for homeschooling (K12) is also based in McLean, VA. I could swing by and say "hi" to Bill Bennett! He was the brain behind putting this program together.

Weekend of 16 October is out (Girl Scout training).

I'm out of town from 24 October thru 29 October, and that's Halloween, so probably not a good timeframe.

My kids are out of school Veteran's Day. Tina, we were trying to find days in October when we talked about this before. Are your kids off Veteran's Day (11/11, a Thursday this year). You also mentioned election day as a possibility. I could possibly do that as well.

Dobelover, are you up for this too?

If any of these timeframes look good to any of you (Doc, would you and yours be up for a trip into DC?) we can move this detailed planning into pm mode so as not to de-rail the main thread
