On the DVC Members Only website it says that Vero Beach is closed until Oct 2. There is a place you can send contributions to for helping the CM's that were affected by the hurricane.

Well - Scuba Diver and Scuba Matt are both going to look "fine" in their tuxes. Jim owns his, but since Matt continues to grow on a daily basis, we are opting to rent his. This leaves Lisa and I. Maybe I will get inspired by those of you that have gone shopping. I know I am in the minority, but I hate to shop! My family will tell you that I was born without the "shopping gene". I like nice clothes, I just don't want to spend any time at the mall or store looking for them or worse trying them on. It's not a size issue, I just hate trying on clothes. I know I need some additional nice dresses for the cruise, so I think I will take my personal shopper Lisa (who LOVES to shop) and see if she can find anything suitable. And, I know Lisa will spend as much time and money as I will allow her to find "just the right outfit". It will be nice to see her dressed up, since the majority of the time it's shorts and shirts to school, leo to the gym, and only dressed up once a week for church.

Oh, no, Sharon, I'm with you! I hate shopping too. I hate the time it takes. I hate TRYING to find something that fits right (too big of hips since birthing my wonderful children!) I hate finding "outfits." I'll find a great top, but have NO idea what goes with it....and SHOES...oh my gosh! I have NO idea what shoes to get.

I DO like to shop for the kids except when I can't find slim pants and everything falls off of them! :( Luckily dd is big into dresses! Ds prefers shorts or sweat type pants (not appropriate for cruise dinners!)

Floods, hurricanes, fires, earthquakes......anybody nervous???

And now Mt. St. Helens is rumbling again here in the Northwest. Experts don't seem to be able to figure out what is going on for sure, but there are mini earthquakes going on inside of her constantly for the last few days.

:(

DH will also be in a tux, and with enough visits to Curves I MIGHT be able to fit into the dresses I bought. If not, I guess I will have to buy more.

Neither are mine, but I do it anyway......hope no one loses their appetite!

My ride starts this Saturday at Fishermens Wharf in San Francisco and ends next Saturday at the Santa Monica Pier. About 520 miles. Goes down Highway 1 through Santa Cruz, Monterey, Big Sur, Morro Bay, Pismo Beach, Solvang, Santa Barbara, Ventura and Malibu. It's a great event to raise money for the Arthritis Foundation. Thanks for asking. I'm looking forward to it.

Kara

My son is still going to Long Beach State, but his main time there was from 1998 to 2001. He played on the Men's Volleyball team. He is still working on his degree (very slowly).

Ken (as a friend recently said - you're going to ride how many miles on that little seat? You're nuts!)

Good Evening!

Thanks, Vicki....we plan on having fun...may have to get a wheelchair, but that's okay.

Virgil....DCL was supposed to fax AND mail me a copy of my excursions....neither one has happened yet.

I gave up on the weight loss idea. I am being much more careful , since I bought new clothes, I don't want to gain any more...

Jared has a tux, but since he grew more than a foot in the last year, we'll be getting a new one. I get them online from www.tux4boys.com great tuxes and great prices. She doesn't sell shoes, though. I'm just going to get him a pair of black dress shoes rather than "tux" shoes.

We are getting rain now, tonight and tomorrow morning. It always rains when I want to fly. You've heard me say that before. It wouldn't make any difference, except Phoenix's airport doesn't know how to operate in the rain.

Ken...that will be a beautiful ride....one of my favorite trips, down that coast!

Think I'll be heading for bed. We have to leave here by 8:30, which is no big deal, but the school has a late-start day (surprise!) and the kids will be home with us.....mayhem in the bathrooms!! Nothing can ever just be easy....

I think I am going to take my lap top. Don't know how I'll sneak it past Mom....maybe I'll say it's a DVD player. Well...it is!

WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY MORNING TO ALL OF THE HOLIDAY CRUISERS!!

If I don't get on in the morning, I'll try to check in from Vegas. Have a great rest of the week!!

Good night,
Stacey

Stacey - have a great trip!

Ken - the ride sounds awesome! Best of luck with it!

MrsMork - our CFO just came back from the Northwest and I sent her an e-mail the day she came back asking her what she did. She was visiting Mt. St. Helens the day before the rumbling started happening. :D

Hey can we bring a glass of wine into the restaurants at dinner?

Yes. I have a special cruise wine glass. It's huge. I bring my own wine on the cruise and just take the glass with me to dinner.

In fact, I take two to dinner. One with wine and the other with Port for desert.

In Palo's they pour my wine into their glass and wash mine out. Very nice of them.

I'm with Karen and scuba mom. I hate to shop. It's worse now that we live an hour from the closest mall, and it's in a nightmare traffic area! I am the queen of internet shopping. Land's End overstocks is my friend. And Karen, they actually do have a reasonable selection of slim's. DD has finally gotten to the point where slims fit pretty nice (instead of falling off her). DS still has lots of room in his 10 slims, but baggy is in, isn't it?

I'm also going pantyhoseless (is that a word?)! I have sparkley black thongs (the kind for your feet, not the other one!!!) to wear with the formal type attire. DH is only 1/2 inch taller than me, so I don't wear heels too often. And my gown will cover my feet, and the fancy pants are wide legged so I think they'll cover up most of my feet. Besides that, if seeing my bare tootsies bothers some one, I'll just ask them what was so interesting about the floor that they had to keep looking there!

We showed our house yesterday afternoon, and the feedback is that he's interested and plans to write an offer today. Stand by. What a crazy world!

That's about it for now. Have a great Wednesday everyone. Lisa

Had to meet with the hospital CEO - tell him how unhappy we are with the staffing.....Threatened to act like the surgeons here - yell and scream until they get their way.....

Hey Virgil, I resemble that or my DH does anyway. Just kidding.:teeth: Actually my DH and his partner don't yell and scream they just threaten to get privileges at the other local hospital. I know, I know, those surgeons think they are God's gift to the world, ::yes:: but what are you gonna do? :scratchin

Stacey & Virgil - I just received my mailed confirmation for excursions yesterday.

Well..... The non shopping gene definitely skipped DW.... as Karen will tell you - Frances loves to shop - and can shop with the best of them....

Back to work for another day shift - then off to Huntington to see Marshall play.....

Hope that everyone has a great Wednesday!

I was careful how I worded that... :teeth:

I told them that they'd be looking for a new ER director and staff if we didn't start getting some form of appropriate staffing.... :earseek:

:flower1: Good Morning Cruisers! :flower1:

Happy Wednesday!

Lisa - I love Lands End online. Just bought my two swimsuits from them.

My motto is life is too short to be uncomfortable but that doesn't mean you have to look like a slob. I think we have a lot of nice options with this group. Lisa - the thongs sound nice. We are going to be a very good looking group on formal night. I'm also going to bring a pair of black satin slippers. If my sandels bother me that's what is going on my feet. As Lisa says - if someone wants to stare at my feet - let them! Mark is also wearing a nice pair of black loafers - not exactly tux shoes, but comfortable.

Well I'm running late this morning so off to read the boards and then to work!

Stacey - hope you have a great time in Vegas with your Mom. Sure wish I was there.

Okay, not that anyone is interested but we have decided what we are going to do for spring break. I wanted to go to WDW but DD(Britt) has this great desire to go out of the country. So we are going to Beaches in Jamaica. It sounds like a fun place for the kids.

The choir at Britt's school is going to sing at WDW during spring break. I guess they will be doing something at EPCOT and singing the national anthem at a pre-season baseball game. That sounds like fun for the kids, but I sure wouldn't want to chaperon that trip.

Going to go read the boards and then get the kids off to school. Everyone have a great day.

GOOD MORNING ALL

Lisa,
On Lands' End??? The only slims I can find are some flare bottom jeans that look like they've been worn for 8 years. And I think they have a pair of khaki's that dd wouldn't be caught dead in!

I emailed both Lands' End and LLBean about their lack of slim department (ll bean has NO slims) and they both said (basically) that there aren't enough slim kids in the world anymore to make it cost effective. They've got plus sizes all over the place though.

Now, me, I'd LOVE to get into a Slim! ;)
