I thought the pool at the POP was really well-built.

and very warm...Do they keep the temperature the same all year round?

and when I got home and opened up the hot house after a month of its emptiness what do I find? Six million brand new fleas waiting to take a bite out of me....ugh! I knew I should have bombed the place before I left....

Let THAT be a lesson to all you pet-owning cruisers....flea prevention is not all it's cracked up to be...scratch, scratch...

Speaking of great new experiences...I took the behind the scenes safari tour. It was great. Cash was not allowed so I had to ride my scooter, a novel sight for some of the animals...Just motored right up to Sampson the white Rhino and gave his mud-encrusted hide a nice pat and tickled his hairy ears...What a nice boy...

Frozen mice , vegie plates, and birdie kibble were being prepared for dinners....Saw the lab, the kitchens, the feed warehouse..sneeze, sneeze....and, at the end of the tour, got a special pin...

I was originally told that Cash would be able to go on the tour but the night before the tour I got a frantic call from the manager, who had just discovered that one member of the next day's party was a dog.....
She suggested I leave him in the room. I said nope. She suggested that I do a different tour, I said I had other plans for the times it was offered...She suggested that they make him an honored guest in the AK kennel during the tour and refund the cost of the tour because of the mixup...Nice lady. She assured me he would be well taken care of, not messed with and not treated like a pet...Doggie jail for Cash.....I made it up to him later by sneaking him onto the Kilimanjaro Safari ride so he could see all the funny tall dogs with long necks and blue tongues....well, not sneaked, really...but they did double tie him....

I will post a sample of the photos that I took on that ride....I swear every single animal had its butt to the camera...even the vulchers and I was surprised as heck to find such unanimity among wild animals. I'm going to gather the collection into what I can call my wild a** album..

We had such a great time...There were so many mix-ups that I nearly went nuts. Upon landing in Orlando, Southwest lost my briefcase (read passport, real money, travelers checks, Disney dollars, meal vouchers, cruise documents, identification, schedule, confirmation and reservation numbers for every condo, hotel, resort, show, shuttle and pit stop.) I parked myself in the lost luggage office and did my best late '60's impression of a sit-in and eventually, being afraid that they would have me on their hands all night, they contacted the condo manager and the timeshare administrator and one faxed a copy of my reservation to the other so Southwest had somewhere to send the dog and scooter show. Then, because I had no money, they hired a taxi to take me and my remaining thousand pounds of luggage (ok, 500 pounds) to the condo, $70.00, and gave me a $200 voucher for future adventures with Southwest, promising to be diligent in the search and recovery of my life-containing baggage. They also gave me the phone number to the lost luggage desk. A day and a half and lots of anxious calls later, the briefcase was delivered to the resort.
If any Southwest-employed member of the DIS community wishes to reiterate the Southwest position that carry-on luggage is exclusively the passenger's responsibility don't bother. If you're seated on a scooter or in a wheelchair or look otherwise incompetant, the cabin crew takes all your carry-on stuff away from you at the entrance to the plane and put it away themselves. Nice service, but sometimes they just forget where they put it...My bag went on to Connecticut stowed in a tray compartment. It then became unaccompanied luggage and, per Federal law, no one wanted to take responsibility for loading it back onto a plane all alone and unaccompanied... so it hung around that airport for a while.
By the time I finally got it I had attended a timeshare presentation (What else does one do while waiting to be reunited with their life?), where they fed me and gave me a $50 gift certificate to the local food market so I could buy groceries...By golly, until I drove my scooter into that darn pothole filled with sand and burned out the electric motor, I was actually making money....oops...

More later...princess:

Good Grief, Charlie Brown, Is there no end to this? I might have to tell another story.....Let's see....Scooter repair/rental escapade?
Cash and the Otter's dog study?
What makes a Colubus monkey perk up?
The lonely lunch outpost?
What I saw in Nassau and why I think I'll just swim in the Goofy pool on any future trip to the Bahamas....
How to meet a Ricky Martin clone on CC and add to a waterproof band aid collection at the same time....

Did I tell you the one about getting locked out of my cabin at 5:AM on debarkation day? Cash likes that one....

Lynda, I'm loving it! I specially want to hear about locking yourself out. That's one of my fears, since those cabin doors are SOOOO heavy!

Jeanette, originally we were going to add a couple of days at WDW after the cruise, but after reading trip reports from that timeframe this year, I thought that the crowds would be impossible. We're travelling with my in-laws for their first big trip. Mom's NEVER been on a plane, and the only boat either has been on was Dad's World War II trip to Europe courtesy of the U.S.Navy. He assures me that if he didn't get seasick on that trip, he'll be fine for this one! Anyway, Dad does get slightly crowd phobic, so crowds would be a definite no-no. We decided to take the kids out the last 2 days before the break and go down early.

GaRry, it's always good to hear that you have quiet days at work. Between you and Doc, when you're busy it means problems for someone!!

And Mickey, welcome aboard! Blame your better half for starting this wild and crazy group.

Happy Tuesday all!

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone!!

Lynda & Cash - it's so great to have you guys back. I love the stories keep them coming. And I thought it was hard traveling with kids.:p BTW - how did Cash do on the cruise?

Jeanette - welcome aboard. We really do have a great group of people here on this thread and I am sure you will be bombarded with lots of information soon.

What special happenings are going on at that time of the Christmas/New Year? Goofy's Magical New Year's Party?

Lynda - if you are going down early you might want to consider "Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party"(MVMCP). Several of us are going on the 17th, but they have other dates for it also. If you do stay the day before the cruise at the Poly let us know. We will be at the GF and would love to hop over and meet you and Cash, if our schedules allow it.

Mary - glad to hear you are having a great time. Weather up this way really stinks. Our town set a record for rainfall for May with 8.67 inches of rain.:umbrella: We are going through flooding now. :boat: The river that runs through town will crest tonight at 8-9 feet above flood stage.

Stacey - hope you are having a great time. I thought about your family in Nebraska when they had such bad weather the other day and yesterday. I hope they are all okay.

Everyone have a great day! NO MORE RAIN!!!! :umbrella:

Couldn't wait to get into work this morning and see what our fluff queen had posted. Nothing is better to start the day than some good laughs and Lynda, I have to say, you need to write a book about all your escapades with Cash! I am laughing hysterically everytime I read your posts!

Keep the trip reports coming.

Have a great day everyone and welcome to Ohio Mickey!!!

To Funny..... why is It we Laugh at others Misfortune...
Peter

Lynda - I'm here at work just cracking up! I loved the stories! What an adventure for both of you!

Paul

Lynda - I'm also sitting here laughing at your stories..... While I understand how hard it is at time to deal with some of these issues - I must say that you definitely adapt well - and of course being retrospective reports surely helps - I'm sure there were times when you weren't laughing.....

That being said - I can't wait for the next saga - and this is definitely NOT FLUFF.....LOL

Well - actually have a day off today..... Didn't schedule myself since I had a meeting today... and well hate working on birthdays....

Have a great Tuesday - I'll be back later!
