Lisa, I just got back from chaperoning a field trip the Wash. DC today. We saw the Space 3D Imax movie at the Air and Space Museum, walked up to the WWII Memorial, ran quickly thru the Natural History and American History museums. It was quite a day. They were setting up The Mall for the WWII dedication this weekend.
Have a good trip.

GAIL ?????????????????????

Ah, yes, my age...28. There are 4 of us going, myself, hubby, and our 2 daughters. Charlotte will be just a few weeks shy of 6 in Dec. and Delia will be 18mos (which was Char's age when we first took her on the Disney Magic)...cannot wait! You all seem like great people. I will have to sit down this weekend and get started on getting through as many of these 397 pages of posts as I can! We missed a lot by booking later, I see! DH and I are both teachers, though, and coming up on summer vacation, so I can use that time to get through them all!

BTW, Virgil, I am a PRO at open book tests! LOL

Hoping I am not way off course here without reading the 100s of previous pages of posts, but I believe there was a poll about your dream Disney job? None too glamourous, but I SERIOUSLY have dreamed of having just one day where I could be a tram driver...(sick, I know, but you know, I teach 6th graders and well, let's just say my high-falutin' dreams have been squelched!) But really, I would LOVE that job for a day! Something about being in charge of a big, long train of a vehicle loaded with tons of people! WEEHAW! (Monorail driver wouldn't be too bad either!)

Jeanette (STILL age 28)

I just looked at the weather report for the next 10 days..... Looks like Tuesday is supposed to be partly cloudy - but every other day has thunderstorms....

I cannot believe this weather.....

Jeannete - glad you caught the open test comment...... :teeth:

Mary - definitely jealous that you're at WDW...

garRy - glad you passed the class.... I can tell you're not overdoing it with your back.....

OhioMickey - glad to see you posting.... I'm also glad you wriggled out of the not calling home situation so nicely.... of course - who could blame you for calling WDW instead of the DW....

Well - time to go home.....

So for Stacey....

Have a Great Thursday to all our DISers!!!!!!

Good morning everyone! Had another late night last night but it was worth it. For those of you who have done E-nights at the Magic Kingdom - think of those but with only 1/10th the people.

I hear that e-nights are usually kept to 20,000. Last night there were just over 2000 of us at the Magic Kingdom. It was awesome! It was such fun to watch WISHES with a huge crowd and while they were all heading to the exits after that we walked back to Fantasyland and walked right on the Pooh ride.

In addition to the rides that were open they had 3 locations for food: Pecos Bills, Cosmic Ray's and The Lunching Pad. You just walked up - ordered what you wanted and it was free.

They were also doing free caricatures at one place and free games in the arcade.

At 11 pm we met at the castle, they pulled 4 more names for free II vacations (not us however :( ) and then asked us to line main street for the parade. We got our own special viewing of Spectromagic.

Another great night.

Today is the grand opening of Saratoga Springs, followed by a "taste of Downtown Disney".

This is our last day at WDW :( tomorrow we are back on the road heading home. It has been one wonderful trip!

Good morning all!

Checking in from the soggy Mid-Atlantic! Rain, rain, go away.....

Jeanette - Welcome and glad you're staying with this wonderful 10-day group! And, another Charlotte! :cloud9: That's so cool you call her Char......that's my abbreviated name, too! Looking forward to meeting "your" Char. Won't be hard telling us apart - I've got a few years on her! ::yes::

Virgil - Happy Belated birthday - glad to hear it was a good one. Wasn't "Miracle" a terrific movie?!

Lynda - LOVE those trip reports - especially how Cash did on the cruise. He is a very good dog, indeed!

Mary - Sounds like your get together has been special - cool pins, WDW events, etc. Have a safe trip home.

Gail - How's your DD doing?

Lisa - Hope your field trip to D.C. was fun!

:daisy: Stace - Sure hope DL was fun! Anxious to hear all about it.

We're off to the midwest for a quick visit, then up to PA to move MIL. So, won't be back 'til the end of next week. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

wdwlvr -

wow! my mouth dropped when i read about your night at MK. unbelivable. i remember getting the information about homecoming, but we already had two weeks planned in early may (1 week wdw / 7 day western). looks like it would have been worth the extra effort to change the dates of our trip!

oh well. glad you were there to enjoy it and thanks for sharing a little of the magic.

virgil -

we had nice weather all last week except for some isolated severe storms that blew through. this week, however, stinks. high temps in the low 70s and stratus clouds everywhere. where did the sun go? ugggggh.

Mary - we did one of the very first E-nights a few years ago. I was at WDW for a conference - and we put DD Lauren in child care - and DW Frances and I had a blast at the Magic Kingdom. We had to ride Space Mountain 6 or 7 times.... and most of the other rides at least 4 or 5 times. It was well worth the extra money for it. I really think that it's something that they need to do on a routine basis for those staying on property. Much nicer than the early entrances in the morning.

Well - gotta get ready for work....

Have a GREAT DAY!

Morning all. I love e-nights at WDW.

Hey, what time does that Mickey Christmas Parade thing start on the 17th and how much? I was thinking I might be able to swing it for that night with all 13 of us if our flight was on time.

Does the Magic Kingdom stay open late?

Okay, work to do, guess I could go on the WDW site and check it out, but you guys usually know more!!!

Hi all! Back from the last Member Homecoming event. We are too wiped to head back out so we'll just chill tonight and we hit the road early tomorrow morning.

This morning we were picked up and went to Downtown Disney West Side. They gave us bottled water and small fans (to help combat the heat). The opening ceremony included a performance by the Dapper Dans from Magic Kingdom and then a special performance by Jody Benson (I think that's her name - she was the singing voice of the Little Mermaid). It was wonderful. They then had the Mayor of the real Saratoga Springs come with some water from the area and they poured it into a large bowl. That set off fireworks and the resort was now officially open. They had a number of things going on. For our dining pleasure they had a "Taste of Downtown Disney" which had offerings from most of the Downtow Disney eateries.

They also had a parade, trivia shows, and lots of other entertainment. We also got some wonderful discounts from the Downtown Disney merchants. 20% off from Arribas brothers, 15% off at Virgin Megastore, a buy one get one free coupon for pins at World of Disney.

All in all it was a very great day. I've been trying to talk friends of ours into coming on the 10 day with us. They would fit in with this wonderful group.

Mary, sounds like the Member Homecoming was wonderful, and worth the money! Heard a lot of complaints over on the DVC boards about the price, but having MK and Spectromagic to yourself and 2000 friends? Priceless!

We had an E-night like that once, the week of Labor Day 2001. No parade though.

Wish we could join you all for the MVMCP on the 17th. Can't take the kid out of school any earlier, she will miss three days as it is. Still haven't convinced her to homeschool so we can vacation at will.

Recital this weekend! School is out, but summer doesn't officially start until this is over. Such madness, DD has three quick changes in each show, with one number in between. Guess we'll see just how fast she can get those pointe shoes on!

Maybe my ballet dancin', homeschoolin' daughter can convince your daughter to be homeschooled! :) I've told dh that if I ever want to give up homeschooling he should remind me about all of our "off peak vacations." :)

My dd's recital is tomorrow night. No pointe for her yet, two numbers and a grand finale and it'll probably last 2 1/2 hours. Have already had 6 hours of rehearsals this week. As the helper mom in my dd's class I've had to keep kids rounded up and quiet. UGH! Amazing how many 3rd and 4th graders have absolutely NO respect for authority. Had to be good because I didn't want the headlines to read "local SAHM chokes ballet students"

Oh I know about the wonderful complaints on the DVC board. Pretty much the sames ones that complained about the member cruise. :D

We haven't been disappointed by either event. I think we got a good value. The only thing I wish I could have changed was the heat, but that wasn't Disney's fault. In fact I think the fans they gave us were a last minute gift to try and get rid of the heat. They didn't have a DVC logo on them :D

Last post for a while. We'll be on the road all day tomorrow.
