Thirty Eight Hundred. And ONE, thanks to Paul!

Now it's time to say goodbye......

HAPPY SAINT PATRICK'S DAY TO EVERYONE, IRISH OR OTHERWISE!!! ::yes:: ::yes::

AND A BRIGHT BEAUTIFUL WEDNESDAY MORNING TO YOU ALL!

Stacey

Paul, you stinker pirate: !!!!!

LOL You were just waiting for that 3800 spot!!! :p

EXCELLENT JOB!!!!!!!!!!!

AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

2.5 DAYS I tried to get back into the DIS boards. What the h*** was going on??????????????

I was having withdrawal symptoms. And I had quite a bit of catch-up reading to do tonite.

Stacey -- take Molly to the vet STAT. My Charlie dog ended up needing emergency surgery because his gland abcessed -- he never showed any symptoms until it was too late, and we almost lost him. It was a nightmare. Don't wait on anal glands. I'm serious!

Getting the windshield replaced tomorrow. $200 down the drain. 6 weeks after the same thing happened on Joe's car.

Gail, I'll ask Keith if he wants to email the girls. He doesn't usually go on the net (we severly restrict his use of electronic media of any kind, yes, especially TV). We'll see how he feels about it. My 7 year old reads at a 4th grade level but his spelling is pathetic. Silly question -- do you correct spelling or just let the kids, you know, be kids?

Yeah, I'm done.

Paul, Gail, I've been trying to PM you tonite as well. I keep losing the messages! They're BIG msgs. Could that be the problem? Does anyone know?

Good morning all and Happy St. Patrick's Day!

How is everyone doing this morning? Busy night last night! When I signed off I thought there was no way you would hit 3800 overnight with the boards being so slow. Good job!

Barb - sorry to hear about the basement. Loved the comments about the mud wrestling :D

On the subject of High Schools -mine was another big one. My class alone was 1200+. We were supposed to have graduation outdoors and it started to rain before we went out (but our parents all got drenched):( Ended up doing it in 3 groups of about 400 each. My group was in the cafeteria :( Oh well.

Well off to read the boards, then pay some bills, and then off to work because I owe, I owe, so off to work I go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The boards have been horrible to get on!

Just caught up reading. I'll post later, got to get to a meeting.

Lisa

Stacey, sorry for all the bad stuff that's been going on. Sound like life is a never ending challenge. There are days I feel that way!

Linda, am I confused, or did you say you work for the Girl Scouts? My DD will also be bridging to cadets next year, and I'm thinking about taking her troop. Our cookie sales are just about done here. Last booth was Saturday. DD sold about 300 boxes on her own, plus booths.

Had to laugh about the snorkling Cash. What a picture!

On the high school note, my graduating class was about 400, but my first two years were in a private school, with a total of 12 kids in the class (talk about big fishes!!). When I went to college, I graduated there with about 400 as well, but since everyone co-oped only half the people were on campus at a time. I wouldn't know what to do in a school the size of some of yours!

Everyone have a great St. Patty's Day (and pinch yourself if you're not wearing green!)

Paul, congrats on #3800. I had no idea we were so close last night (rather early morning for me) or I might have stayed up a bit longer ::yes:: ::yes::

Barb - well at least you are starting the day off with T.O.P.!

We're getting snow again today - yuck! Not enough to close schools or anything like out east - just enough to make it yucky.

Bills are paid - hotel arrangements for next weekend made - I'm at work - just a few more minutes to browse the boards before I start.

Have a great day everyone - I'll check in at lunch!

Good morning everyone.

Sorry I feel asleep last night.

DD id sick again. I just put in a call to the vet. I am really worried now. Harmony has to go so much. More than she is eatting. Our vet comes to our home. We have know him for years. He was my childhood dog's vet and still lives in the town where I grew up.

As for High School. We had 10-12th and I graduated with almost 700 children. Very competive class for sports. I played lacrosse and Field Hockey.

DD elementrary is busting at the seams with about 450 children K-5. there are & elementary schools two middle schools and one very BIG High school. DH and myself grew up in large school sidtricts. Our town is small and we all know each other.

Lisa, I am an Assistant Brownie Leader this year for DD and will be a full Leader next year at DD Elementary school. DD is going to Girl Scout sleep away camp for one week in August which is about 1.5 hour from our house. It is in the Hampton Bays area(East Hampton). If you have time e mail me if you have any questions. I listed my e mail below.

Dee, I guess the PM never went through. If you find time you can e mail me at gail17@optonline.net if it is still not working.

Still yucky in NY Freezing rain this am. It looks like it is stopping. I am dreaming of warm weather.

Have to run and get the children ready for school. Talk to you all later. Have a great day. Gail

:earsgirl:

Another cold, gloomy day here. I sure do wish we could see the :sunny: several days in a row. For now I know that WDW is only a bit over 3 weeks away and that is a good thing to look forward to ::yes::

Good Morning and Happy St Paddy's Day! Yes, my family is Irish!

Gail, you made me laugh, quite by accident. :p "DD is sick. Need to call the Vet". Actually, I'm in the exact same boat. Jordan is home sick...her throat looks like raw hamburger.
Tough choice....dog to vet, DD to doctor? Will try to fit both in.

Thanks, Dee....I will definitely call the vet, and plug my nose!!

Makes me think of a time a long time ago....Jordan was about 7 and we were swimming at a friends house and Jordan broke her nose on the pool steps. One of our friends is a vet, and she said it wasn't broken. Months later, I had to take her to the doc because it still hurt. Xrays showed it was broken....and I told our doctor "But the vet said it wasn't broken!!". :p

Off I go. Have a great day everyone!!

Stacey

Hi Stacey, I guess I was in a rush. So funny. Actually after I posted that DS started wheezing. He has Asthma so we have a doctors appointment at 1:30pm today. It is the weather Warm weather, Cold weather!!! He is also complaining of a tummy ache!!!! The whole house here was in that mode last week. I hope it is not that again. I lived in the poop house last week and I had enough of it!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway gotta go. Talk to you all later. Gail:earsgirl:

GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE...

...and out of the 3000+, my graduating class was 1221 ...HUGE, for the century I graduated...Hiding in the shadows...Funny thing, the ONE AND ONLY day I cut class was the day of the Senior Awards Ceremony.....What are the chances, I asked myself.....Well, I got three awards of merit and for each one the recipient was supposed to accept the award up on stage...Friends later told me that when I was called for the third award there was a rumble of laughter that good little Lynda, who had been seen on campus in the A.M., was mysteriously absent......
Sigh...Luckily, my parents, who had given up all pretense of participation the minute I hit High School, were not there and no one asked what I'd been up to.
And for those of you who will try to beg and pry and try to use this mystery as an excuse to increase the count....FLUFF, I say!

ENOUGH, of these tawdry tales...I pinched myself...blue jeans and blue T shirt...No green. I think I'd better change that, though...I've to go to City Hall to see about making my newly-subdivided property legal so I can sell it...2 acres of prime Hill Country real estate...My neighbor is going to ****!

Lynda, good luck at City Hall and with selling your property.

I just looked outside and that white 'fluff'y stuff is falling out of the sky again  :earseek: When will it end?!?

Morning all, here from the midwest. Sorry about all that bad weather back east. All I can say is it is going to be in the 60's today and this weekend in the 70's. Record temp's for this time of year. Actually, I think it is trying to get me acclamated to the temperature so I don't suffer shock when I get to Maui on April 6th!

Yes, I work professional for Girl Scouts. Have been here 7-1/2 years. I am the Director of Finance. Work with the CEO, Board of Directors (15), and paid staff (38). I handle anything having to do with $$$$$$. We are in the middle of a 4 million dollar cookie sale right now. So, needless to say, it is quite hectic until March 31 when all the money is due to us! Too bad it's not Disney Cruise $$$$$$. Oh well!

Yes, my daughter, Jamie, is a Junior GS and will bridge to Cadettes this fall. We will have to get them to email. I was thinking I PM'd someone. I know Jamie has emailed with Gail's daughter, Emily and Emily sent her a response right back.

Anyway, need to meet with the CEO and 15 minutes. I'll check in later.

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! ::yes:: Linda

I just found this info posted by another cruising friend...Better than snow....
Q
Has anyone, while in port at St. Thomas, taken the ferry to St. John, then rented a Jeep (or car) and simply explored the many beaches on St. John for a few hours? We’re thinking of doing this on our upcoming Eastern cruise, but I’m not sure that we’ll have enough time to explore much of St. John and still get back to the ship on time. Any suggestions, or similar experiences that you can share?

A

We went to St. John on our own last week. Here are my thoughts.

There really is not much time on St. Thomas and we tendered so it left us with even less time. We took a taxi to Red Hook which was an adventure in itself, DD3 was very motion sick when we got off. It took almost 30 minutes to get there and cost $8.00 per person. When bought tickets for the Red Hook ferry ($3.00 per person, $1.00 for the kids). The ferry ride took about 20 minutes and was smooth. It was almost 11:00 before we got to St. John.

There is also a downtown ferry from Charlotte Amalie to St. John. It takes about 45 minutes. We took this ferry back to St. Thomas and it was VERY bumpy. The lady in front of me asked a worker if the boat was going to tip over. A family who rode this boat over to St. John said that it was ten times worse on the way over. The cost was $7.00 per person and I think $3.00 for the kids. It was a beautiful ride and you got to see some incredible homes on St. Thomas.

We took the 2:15 ferry back to downtown and arrived at the tender station by 3:00. If you take the Red Hook ferry back, make sure you leave plenty early in case there is a lot of traffic on St. Thomas. There were seven ships in port that day!

St. John was beautiful! We walked to Mongoose Junction, had lunch, then walked to Gallows Point (we stayed there on our honeymoon and took pictures of the kids in the gazebo and hammock where we spent a lot of time while we were there). We shopped a bit in town and then it was time to return. It will probably cost you $85 to rent a jeep on St. John for only a couple of hours. Other posters have mentioned renting a car on St. Thomas and taking the car ferry over to St. John. That may be a less expensive option.

Beware of driving on St. John. You drive on the left side of the road. The roads are very narrow, steep and twisty. Wild donkeys and mongoose may cross your path.

I hope this info helped. Unfortunately, there is so little time on St. John once you go through the logistics of getting there that I am not sure you would get your money's worth out of renting a jeep there. Maybe choose a beach and take a taxi there to spend a few hours.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Your journey to St. John sounds perfect... (e.g. taxi to Red Hook, ferry to St. John, etc.) Based on your experience, I think I’ll change our plans. I would hate to be rushed, or worry about not making it back to the ship on time (how relaxing is that!). So now I’m thinking we’ll either: 1) do one of the DCL excursions to St. John (e.g.”5-Star St. John Snorkel and Beach Adventure” or “St. John Trunk Bay Beach and Snorkel Tour”), or 2) take the Red Hook ferry to St. John, then take a taxi to Trunk Bay for a few hours, or 3) stay on St. Thomas and spend the day at Magen’s Bay or Coki Beach. Any thoughts on these options?

St. John is definitely worth the hassel of getting there. If you are just interested in snorkeling at a beautiful beach, I think your best bet would be to do an excursion.

If you take a taxi accross to Red Hook, try to find someone else going the same way, it will save you taxi fare. If you have a full load, the drivers tend to leave a little sooner rather than waiting for the van to fill up.
The people who went to Megans Bay said it was beautiful!
