Similar circumstance happened recently to me. You must charge to your room to make the $200 credit available. e.g., charge a dinner for $205, and if that's all you charge to your room over your stay, you will only owe $5 on your room bill.

We got some credit before also and we were moving that day to Jambo house, they were able to transfer the credit to the other resort , just inform the front desk and ask them to make the transfer, confirm before you go
We also had a 200 credit at Vero because our room was very late. We also had another issue there and received another 300 in credit. I'm not complaining about getting the credit, but frankly I'd prefer we had no issues that would require credits! It's reminding me of the airlines now where they just throw money at you for poor performance on their part.
We had an issue similar and received a 200 credit and as we set up to charge on our bands. The credit was applied to our bill at the end of our stay. They also told us if we didn't have a credit card to use they would give us a Disney Card to use during our stay.
Cash seems to be the current make nice gift. In the past, money, meals, FP's, flowers, deserts, candy, balloons and even calling you the "family of the day", were given as gifts.
In Dec we were staying at Kidani Village and our room was very late. I wasn't complaining but I did inquire at the desk twice about the status. We were traveling with my elderly in laws and it had been a long day of travel and sitting in the lobby, deck, pool area was wearing thin on their patience. The second time I inquired they gave us 2 table service credits each and 2 counter service credits each. I did not ask for any compensation but I thought it was nicely taken care of.
So you have to charge to your room to benefit from the credit? If so, we'll have to remember that (although, I hope we don't!) because otherwise we avoid charging to our room.
We received a $100 credit on our last stay because the refrigerator died overnight and our breakfast and packed lunches for our last day were spoiled.
We charged the replacement meals to the room to use up the credit. I was told that whatever wasn't used would be credited to my credit card. But let's face it, not hard to use up $100 getting two QS meals at the resorts or parks so we didn't end up confirming that theory.
