2 yr old with meningitis UPDATE 10/22

My sister's friend's 2 yr old daughter Micaela has meningitis.

She has had a long running fever and was brought to the doctor 2x who thought it was the flu. A few days later, she was stumbling, slurring her speech and her eyes were crossing.

The mother brought her to the hospital where they promptly admitted her and spinal tap proved meningitis.

Poor baby, I'm sure the parents are terrified.

Please keep this little girl in your prayers.

UPDATE:

Micaela's diagnosis has been changed to encephalitis. She'll need speech and physical therapy since her brain was affected as mentioned above. It could take 2 weeks to a year for recovery the doctors said. She may come home today or the next.

That's scary, I am so glad I had mine vaccinated against it. (She was in a study at childrens hospital)
