I've seen threads to this effect before, but I'm as confused as ever.:upsidedow We're going to the World in May.* We're on the DDP.* We're staying at SSR via DVC.* Is it possible to buy the DDP for a two year old without buying a park ticket?* How is this done?* I've read that folks have done this before, but when calling the DVC number, they say it cannot be done.* I know we could buy meals/snacks OOP for my 2 yr old, but it would be a better deal if she could be on the DDP for $10/day.Please help - I need step by step directions on this one~

I've never had any trouble adding our youngest to the DDP during our DVC stays. I just told them I wanted to purchase the plan for 2 adults, 3 children. We did it when she was 18 months and again at 2 and a half and there was never any issue at all.

That extra $12 per day was well worth the lowered stress of not trying to convince her to share with her siblings (and her siblings were happier, too) and she's a decent eater so she enjoyed having plenty to munch on. The extra snack and CS credits were pooled with ours to cover some breakfasts and random snacks for the whole group.

Can you add the dining plan for a 2yr old on a package at a regular resort?

Jennifer

At a 'regular' resort, i.e. Magic Your Way Package, you would have to tell the reservationist that the child is three, and you would then have to buy park passes for that child

So, I should buy my tickets separately and just tell them I need the dining plan for 3 children - and not mention their ages unless they ask?

I don't want to break the rules, but I want my 33 month old daughter to have a meal, too! We aren't eating at any buffets, but two family style dinners, so we'll be splitting up our other two kiddos meals for dd2 or paying OOP for her own meal.

We are staying at a DVC resort on points in the fall and have the same issue with our very piggy 2 year old DS. If we purchase the DDP for him do we have to buy him a park ticket too? And if we go to a buffet or family style restuarant will they not use a TS credit for him?

I was just thinking about this - I would like to purchase a meal plan for my 2 yr old but not the park ticket. Can I do this - I can book the hotel and then call back later and purchase our dining plan? How would this work for the free dining? Does the free dining come with the room or with the park tickets?

subbing cause I've got an almost 3 yr old as well and the price per day would be good

If you are staying at a DVC property using points to pay for your room, you are allowed/able/permitted to add the Disney Dining Plan or the Deluxe Disney Dining Plan to your reservation, with no ticket purchase required.

If you are staying at a DVC property and paying with cash or credit card, or if you are staying at any non-DVC resort, you must include tickets with your package in order to be eligible for either Dining Plan.

Free Dining, if offered, is NOT available when using points to pay for a DVC stay; it is available as a promo ONLY to Guests purchasing Magic Your Way packages including room-and-tickets.

What is the exact price per day...one post says $10 and one says $12?

actual price is $9.99 per night of stay for kids 3-10.

If you want to buy the plan for a child under 3, on a regular package you'd also have to buy the kid a park ticket. Everyone on the reservation who gets the dining plan has to buy the same type of ticket.

If you are buying through DVC, or you are buying the plan with an AP room only, you won't need to buy tickets, so you could just say how many adults and children you want on the plan.

If you are booking free dining, it appears (not certain yet as the discount hasn't been released at this time) that it applies to room/tickets packages and the child would need a ticket.

I called DVC member services this morning to ask about some other things when we go. I asked about the dining plan for a 2 year old and she said I couldn't add him. When I book it, can I just tell them the number of kids I want and not tell them their ages? I'll buy park tickets separately if I have to. I really don't want to buy him a park ticket if I don't have to.

Cuddlemama - I'm still curious to know how they did the dining plan for you for someone under 2. Did you have a park pass for them as well? Or did you just have a card that solely had the dining info on it? I really would like to do this as well but if I have to pay for the park ticket I may as well purchase each of his meals separately since it wouldn't save me any money to do it that way. Kind of a pain since having it prepaid and on the card would be much easier...

I'm not Cuddlemama but just wanted to mention that she is a DVC member staying at a DVC resort on points so they can get the dining plan with a room only (no tickets needed). They do not have to buy a package (room, tickets, dining plan); they just book their room via DVC and ask for the dining plan to be added.

If, however, you are not staying via DVC or AP, then you will need to book a package with room, tickets and dining plan for everyone in your room.

So yes, you will have to buy your child a ticket if you want the dining plan and are NOT a DVC member staying on DVC points or an AP holder. Everyone in the room has to buy a park ticket and be part of the dining plan if they are over 3 years old so a child under 3 that you want to try to add as a 3 year old will also need to buy a park ticket (again, unless you are a DVC member staying on points or doing the dining plan as an AP holder).

Hope this helps.

As mentioned above, we are DVC members staying on points, so we did not have to purchase a ticket for our 2 year old to have her included on the dining plan.

Also, friends who stayed on our points have been able to do the same. We just told the folks at Member Services that we wanted to add an additional child on our dining plan. I think she said you could add up to the number of people supported by your room size, so we could have (with our two bedroom) up to 8 people on our dining plan. With our littlest included, we had 7.
