DS just turned 2 last month and we are heading to Disney in a few weeks  . We have a few character/buffet meals scheduled and I was told he could eat off of my plate. He will be sitting in the high chair and not on my lap which makes it a bit difficult to share plates. My question is- can I bring a small take and toss plastic bowl with me to put his food on? (yes, I am aware that this might make me look like a cheapskate)

He will obviously have his own meals at the regular TS and CS places, but is it frowned upon at the buffets?

Your son will be able to have his own plate at the buffets. It is at the CS and TS meals that he will have to share your meal, unless you pay OOP for a meal for him. Last year they always gave my 2.5 yo grandson an empty plate at the TS meals to make it easier to share. :upsidedow

Yes, he can have his own plate. You don't even have to literally share your plate, you can make him his own from the buffet. Until they are 3, kids basically eat free at buffets. I guess Disney assumes they don't eat enough to worry about. As you said, if you want to feed him at a regular meal, you will have to buy one for him or he'll share with someone in your party.

You can get him a plate at a buffet. If you prefer him to have a plastic plate/bowl bring it with you or you can use one from the restaurant. When they say share with you they don't mean literally only off your plate/fork. They'll give him his own.

At a regular a la carte restaurant, when they say share off your plate, they'll bring him his own plate there too- empty, but you can put food on it for him :)

It won't make you look cheap to share your food with your baby at Disney. They really sort of expect it, I think. If you prefer to order him a child's meal, then do it, but if you think he'll like what you all are having, then just ask for an extra plate and give him some of your food.

:rotfl: I guess I took the sharing of the plates a bit too literally! They told me on the phone that if I took a plate for him that I would be charged for a child's meal but maybe that was a misinformed CM. He turned 2 on 7/1 but is almost 3 feet high so I am definitely bringing his birth certificate in case we get any questions!

Thank you for your replies!:disrocks:

You wrote that "he will obviously have his own meals at the regular TS and CS places." Just wanted to make sure that you know that he will have to share your meals at CS and TS places, unless, of course, you pay OOP for a meal for him. :upsidedow

Yes, I meant that I know we will have to pay OOP for his meals if he gets the kids ones. With the appetizers, meals and desserts, there should be enough for he and I but if not, we will just order him a kids meal and pay for that on its own.
:)

Hi,

We just got back and feeding DS2 was not a problem. He had his own plate at the buffets and at Liberty Tree Tavern which is technically a table service.

I found the cast members so helpful with the dining plan especially at the counter service/snack stops. They actually helped me "cut corners". DD5 wasn't that hungry so I was just going to do a snack off of her plan, but the cashier checked everything and made her snack a dessert off one our of our counter service meals. :goodvibes
