Ok, ok I've been posting on here for a few months now, or at least since I decided to do DL. I've been wanting to post a pre-trip report but I kept thinking..who on Earth will read this? Considering I'm reading everyone else's reports, I guess I now know the answer to that..so here it goes.

I'm a Northern California girl, born and raised. I did spend some time in San Diego while I was in the Navy and I absolutely LOVE Southern California too. I have not been to DL since I was 7ish. I have vague memories of the RV trip my family took down there, and I'm beyond excited to go now at 33yo. I think I decided on a whim that we should go. If it were up to DH, he'd sit home all the time. I'm the traveler at heart and although Ireland was on my list next, I changed the plans to accomodate the youngins. Ok, and myself too haha. BTW- My contract for my job is ending the week we are going to Disneyland. What better way to start off my unemployment then with this trip!

Cast of Characters
Me- Jenn 33 (last trip was 1982, gulp)
DH- Lenny 32 (last trip was somewhere around 1994 for his grad night)
DD- Lindsay 2 1/2 (1st timer) princess:
DN- Mason 9 (his 10th birthday is right after we go, so we surprised him with this trip and he is so excited. It's his first time too!) pirate:

I've been reading lots of tips and tricks on the internet. I'm a planner by nature, and luckily DH is the more laid back one so we tend to balance each other out. I've outlined our trip, but left a few things open. Here's the plan so far...Oh, and I booked a balcony room facing Disney at Hojo's at the Ent rate, and bought our 4 day park hoppers from GAT.com and they are on the way!

Saturday 10/25:
Drive to Fresno and stay with my in-laws overnight so we don't have too long of a drive Sunday!

Sunday 10/26:
Leave Fresno early, gas up, grab a pumpkin spice latte  and hit the road. Arrive in Anaheim early afternoon. Check in to Hotel (Hojo's) if it's ready. If it's not, drop bags off and head to DTD and hang out for awhile. Get checked into hotel eventually and head back to ESPN zone for Sunday football! We are huge fantasy football players, and so is my nephew so we want to watch the games. Sadly, there's no Sunday night game boo! So we'll head back to the hotel, swim, rest and maybe see the fireworks from our balcony. Then we'll get lots of sleep (hopefully) for Monday at DL!

Monday 10/27:
I have PS for Plaza Inn, Minnie's Breakfast at 940am. So we'll get to the gates as early as we can. The CM said they would open at 930 and to be at the gates then so we can get to the restaurant. After bfast we'll head to DL and start in FL or TL. I want to do a section or two a day so we can hit everything we want without running all over the place like chicken's with our heads cut off LOL. I figure I'll see how DD does nap wise, and if she doesn't crash in her stroller then we'll head back to the hotel and eat some snacks/lunch and get some rest. Head back over to the park and hit some rides we forgot earlier or have FP's for. I think there are no parades or fireworks while we're here, so we'll just head out after it closes and get some sleep.

Tuesday 10/28: EE day. Eat bfast at the hotel (we'll bring a cooler and bag of goodies). Plan to get up early, hit some rides, grab FP's and explore DL more. Back to the hotel for naps, rest and lunch. Head back to DL for more playing. Dinner at DL. Maybe RF cafe, or somewhere inside DL.

Wednesday 10/29:
Sleep in a bit, bfast at the hotel or grab lattes and danish at the bakery in DL. This day is for DCA. Visa meet and greet. We'll hang out there all day. I'm hoping DD will nap in her stroller this day. Head back to hotel early afternoon, rest, eat dinner, dress in costumes and head back to DCA for MToT party!!

Thursday 10/30: EE day! Bfast at the hotel. Hit things we might have missed along the way because this is our last day. Check out, maybe leave our bags there and go back to DL for awhile. I don't think we'll close the park down, because we have to drive home this night. So we'll leave whenever we feel ready.

Ok, so that's the plan tentatively. Any ideas? Suggestions? Comments?

So far I've bought some goodies for everyone: tshirts, pins for the kids and me hehe. I bought Linz a Belle dress to wear one day and I got the Minnie pumpkin dress for MToT. I need to get something for me and DH will probably not wear a costume BOO!

Questions:
- DD is about 37 inches, will she get to go on most rides?
- DH is very tall and has broad shoulders, any ride restrictions? At Six Flags, the ones that go over the shoulders don't fit him.
- DN will want to check out the Jedi training. Is there a place I can find out times for this? Should I make him a sign?
- We are Disney Visa holders and won't be using the strollers because we'll bring our Mac Volo, however I want to let someone else have my stroller rentals. How can I do this? Just check one out and give it to someone?
- How is Rainforest Cafe? Worth it for the kids? Food?

I guess that's it for now! I hope I haven't bored anyone to tears lol. Thanks for reading.

I love pumpkin spice lattes! Can't wait 'till they start selling them.

Minnie's Breakfast is great! Your DD and DN will enjoy it.

And with the Jedi Training, my DN and DSis participated in it in March, we had no signs. We just got there early and they were jumping around :lmao: . I think though when I go in 27 days (:scared1: only 27, I still have tons of planning to do) I will make signs.

So far great pre-trip report! Can't wait to read more!

Thanks for reading and for the tips! FYI- Starbucks has PSL now! Well, at least they do her ein Northern California. MMMM!

Hey, we're close to you! I've also lived in no. CA my whole life. :)

You're trip sounds great! That's nice that you have a stop over place on the way down.

bought our 4 day park hoppers from GAT.com and they are on the way!

They actually have you pick up your tickets at Disneyland. Be sure to have your ID with you since you must show the ID of the name you bought the tickets under. :thumbsup2

Hey, your plans sound great so far!!

As for RFC, I think it's great. My kids love it and so do I actually. I know some people complain about it, but we've never had a bad experience there. The only reason we aren't going this trip is because we are going in November to the one here in Vegas for my DD's b-day.

That's so nice of you to give away your stroller rental! Sort of like dreaming someone yourself. I'd just rent it and then when you see someone in line or about to get in line, ask them if they'd like a freebie. I'm sure they'll be thrilled after they wonder why the heck your giving it away of course. :rotfl2: (some people are so skeptical!! LOL)

Can't wait to read more. :)

So, my nephew was at our house this weekend and all we did was surf the net and read about Disney stuff. He's such a great kid and he's so deservig of this trip! I have officially started our countdown on my whiteboard at work LOL. 47 days, yahoo! I read that POTC WAS still going to be shutdown evern though they took it off the refurb list, so I'm very bummed about that. But I guess I'll get over it. I want to lose 10 pounds prior to going. So I'm hopping on my elliptical tonight...I SWEAR I AM! Still awaiting GAT package in the mail. That will really mean we're going when I see that LOL.

Ok, so we were going to be the Flintstones but I don't care for the Wilma dresses out there and I'm not crafty enough to make my own. We can't find Disney costumes large enough for DH (he's 6'3" and very broad shouldered) that are within our budget anyway. I've always wanted to be Cleopatra for Halloween so this year I'm doing it. I told DH he will need to be Marc Anthony and he said "does that mean I have to wear a dress?". I told him, that technically it was a toga and yes that is what he'll be wearing. :rotfl:

So, I bought my costume yesterday at Target of all places. I had a $5 gift card and so my costume only cost me $25, not too bad. It definitely is cheaply made but I think if I put a few sturdy stitches in the strps it'll be ok. I plan to get a haircut before our trip, and it'll be a short bob, so that'll be perfect with some black spray in it. I just want to buy a snake arm band and maybe a gold leaf head piece for DH. I'm about to buy his toga set on eBay for $27 plus shipping. A bit more than I wanted to spend, but I can't find the XXL ones at the store are online any cheaper. So, we're set. Now I'm just waiting to hear what my nephew will dress up as. I'm guessing pirate or some kind of jedi guy. We'll see....More to come later.

PS- No tickets from Getawaytoday yet. Anyone know when they send those out? We are 39 days away from our trip.:cool1:

Well your plans sound great! You guys are going to have a blast!

To answer a few of your questions........

1. Your DD will be able to ride MOST of the rides. Anything that doesn't have a height restriction. Example: POTC, Jungle Cruise, Haunted Mansion, Buzz astro blasters, dumbo, etc, etc, etc. I took my DD when she was 6months old and she got to ride 2/3 of the rides.

Is your DD tall for her age, or is my DD really short for her age. :rotfl2: She's 2 1/2 and only 34" tall. :confused3

2. Your DH will be able to ride most of the rides too. the only one I'm thinking he might have problems with is California Screaming.

3. I for one LOVE the Rainforest Cafe' .... Just be aware that it's a bit overpriced, but I think it's worth it. Your kids will also love it. I suggest the Chicken Fried Chicken..... Mmmmmm Mmmmm Mmmmmm

Have a wonderful trip!

Don't listen to Beth, she's a liar! :rotfl:

I don't particularly care for RFC. I'm a picky eater and I don't really care for the taste of their food (if that makes any sense at all). I'm more of a Naples gal, give me pizza any day!

Your costume sounds awesome! Can't wait to see pictures!

REYASMOMMY- Thanks for the tips! I know RFC will be overpriced but it's one of those things that we don't get to do up here in Sacramento and I thought the kids (and me hehe) would enjoy it.

WENDY- I've heard mixed reviews on the food too. Luckily DH and DN will eat anything and I'm a soup and salad kinda gal, so I think we'll go for the experience and expect bad food that way if it's not bad we'll be happy. :lmao: See, I'm also a glass is half empty type of gal, that way I'm not disappointed when bad things happen. :rotfl:

OH wow! I didn't realize you were in Sacramento. I'll be there in a couple of days visiting my Dad! How's the weather? :confused3

It's awesome! It's supposed to be low-mid 80's this week and weekend! Have a nice trip.

I was thinking of taking my DD to fairytale town ((I think that's what it's called)) Do you recommend it?!? My DD is 2.

I know you weren't really asking me, but:
My 2 year old niece LOVES Fairytale Town!!! The slides were her favorite part. She had an absolute ball, so I think your daughter will like it too! :goodvibes

Thank you! :goodvibes My DD does love slides... so I guess it will be right up her alley. ;)

Ditto what Wendy said. My Dd is 2 1/2 and she loves Fairytale town. She loves the big tunnel slide. I think she would really enjoy it. They have a website, you should try googling it (I don't have it on hand). Sometimes they have special events, like ice cream day or dress up day or story time. Have fun!

I just bought DH's toga costume for Marc Anthony. HEHE. I think we've bought everythign we need to. However, I am scouting some crocs for DD on eBay right now. Only 36 more days, Yahoo!

Yay how exciting!!!

You'll have to take lots of pictures of your husband in his "dress" :rotfl2:

Only 29 days to go....

- I made reservations at the Rain Forest Cafe for Tuesday while we're there. I've heard mixed reviews but I'm thinking the kids will enjoy it. :thumbsup2

- I ordered Crocs for everyone as I've heard how comfy they are, so hopefully those will be here soon so we can break them in.

- I have my Disney Visa rewards card now and will transfer all my points over in the next week or so.

- Still awaiting DH's Toga, but it is supposed to be delivered today. I still need black eyeliner, snake bracelets, black hair spray and I guess that's it lol.

- We've been watching Disney movies so DD can get used to the characters. She knows a lot of them now. We also found some videos on youtube with other kids meeting the characters at Disneyland and she seemed into that while she was watching. Tonight we're going to watch Pocohantas (my fave). popcorn::

- And on the job front...my contract ends the week before our trip but I have an interview TODAY for a permanent position doing almost the same job I've been doing for the past year. So, wish me luck!!!

That's all on the updates......stay tuned for more....

popcorn::

I love the RFC and I think your kids will too.
Good luck on the interview!!!!! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:
