Hey, y'all!
Signing papers next week. Going home soon!
Zippa-dee-doo-dah!!! My ? is:

When I pick up a resale for a wanted property,
should I look for the same use year to keep one
account with MS? If I made a ressie needing 180
points, (and my 1st contract is for 175 points), can
I combine points from 2 different contracts for the
ressie? Wouldn't it be easier to have only one
member number?

Thanks! :pinkbounc

We have two different use years and it does add a little complexity. What I sometimes need to do is transfer points from one to the other to have enough for a trip. I don't THINK (but I've been wrong before) that add on's can be of a different use year than your regular contract (someone please correct me if I am wrong).

What I try to do is use only one use year per vacation - since we usually go twice per year this has worked fairly well. I will borrow from the next year if the current year doesn't have enough points.

I made my own little spreadsheet to track the different vacations and which contract/use year the points came from.

If I had my choice I would have only one use year - but we bought two resale packages and the price/timing was right so it is something we need to deal with (not a major problem though).

Having two use years (we do) does not complicate things much. If you are going to reserve a week using both sets of points, you simply reserve some nights with one contract and the other nights with the second contract (and then they are linked as one reservation). If you need to combine points for a single night in that vacation period, you just transfer from one contract to another (DVD is liberal when it comes to a member transfering to himself among contracts and generally waives the one transfer per use year rule in that situation--moreover the one transfer per use year rule is stated as being a transfer from one member to another and thus it is questionable it even applies when a member is transfering to himself).

The only real complication is that you just have to keep track of two use years and thus the different banking rules that apply and that is not much of a complication.

When adding on through Disney you do get the same use year. When going to the resale market for a second contract, you may want to check on what is available in the same use year but I would look at it more of just getting what you want for the best price regardless of use year.

Don't know if this makes a difference, but since we live
only 2 hours away, frequent trips are made (sometimes
twice a month - don't hate me! :D

So most of trips will not be preplanned - 11 months or
even 7 months out. Don't want to turn DVC into a major
bookkeeping event.

Hey, a small business idea - manage everyone's DVC
points. Maybe I'm onto something...... Points 'R Us??!!

Any other replies? Pix :earsgirl:

If you can, I would go with 1 use yr. It would make things less complicated.
pixiedustforever, I like your idea, "points R Us":D
