2 TS for Brown Derby?

We were thinking of having dinner at the Brown Derby in DHS, but I'm having trouble accepting the fact that it requires two table service credits from our dining plan. It's not as if they have lobster on their menu; in fact their prices are on par with several of the places in World Showcase. So what gives ... why do they charge two credits??

Perhaps for the "name", the ambiance? I'm not real sure. When we went six years ago we were not impressed and we've not gone back because we didn't find it worth two credits.

We went once when we were on the dining plan and it isn't the best use of 2 TS credits. I don't think it comes close to comparing to some of the other signature restaurants. I have often wondered why Brown Derby was 2TS while LeCellier was only 1TS. I'd almost like to see LeCellier go back to being 2TS to shave back some of the demand.

So, IMO Brown Derby isn't worth 2TS credits, but we didn't dislike HBD. We are actually going back there next Sunday for dinner, but we are not on the DDP. We are using the TIW discount this trip.

We have been there one time and agree with it just not being worth 2 TS credits for us. Not sure why it is listed as such....but I'm sure the name and ambiance as mentioned have something to do with it.

We were there a couple weeks ago and loved it. Our bill was nearly $150 before tip and drinks, so I think it was worth 2 credits. And the food was fantastic. My DH thought the steak was better than Le Cellier and I had the grouper. It was one of the best meals we had in the 2 weeks we were in Disney.

I have to agree with the above poster... we were there a week ago and t was fabulous. Our bill was for the fantasmic package and $47 each but the meal was really good and much better than Le Cellier's this time. We would probably go back

Because the food in DHS stinks and they wanted to have at least one 2 TS credit location in each park so they picked the best option - HBD. That's my theory, anyway. It might be good, but is it better than Le Cellier or Tutto Italia, etc. that are only 1 TS credit? Probably not twice as good, no.

Brown Derby is one of my favorite places out of all 4 parks to eat so far. While the food is good, I think you go for more than just the food. The whole atmosphere is cool, especially if you are a fan of older movies. The service has been top notch. I have to admit that I usually go for lunch and pay out of pocket. I tend to agree that 2 TS credits is a lot. The cobb salad is the best and it's cheaper as a lunch item anyway so it's not bad paying out of pocket.

LOL ... that's probably right! Thanks everyone for your replies. I'm sure the food at the Brown Derby is wonderful, but I think I'll use my two credits separately. Thanks again!

Except... where are the Dining Plan Signature restaurants in Epcot and Animal Kingdom? :)

I also agree! We ate lunch there at the beginning of our trip a few weeks ago and liked it so much that we went back for a 2nd lunch a week later. We thought it was well worth 2 credits, we almost went back a 3rd time for dinner!

Brown Derby is a nice restaurant and have good food, but it is NOT worth 2 table service credits for us, so we won't be going back anytime soon.
