2 studios or a 1 bedroom?

This is our first dvc trip so don't know what rooms are like.Would you pick a 1 bedroom or 2 studios for a Mom,2 teens and a preteen?I do allow the teens to stay out later on some nights,and of course they sleep later We have the ddp so won't need a full kitchen.For some reason I'm leaning toward the 1 bedroom.

Well, the nice thing about a one bedroom is the living room with sofa to watch TV, full kitchen and washer/dryer (not to mention the jacuzzi!).

On the other hand, since you don't actually need a kitchen, the two studios might be nice for a couple reasons: the first (and most important) being that you get another bathroom. Second, you get another real bed, so no one will end up sleeping on the sofabed. My thinking is with two teens and a preteen, the extra bathroom might really be useful!

The age of the TEENs matters as will they be able to be the only ones on the Ressie for the second Studio ( you might be able to be on both but I'm not sure.

Then also how close will the 2 studios be located is another problem.

The problem with getting two studios is that they are not guaranteed to be close to each other. And like tmt martins said, at least one will have to be 18 yrs old.

A one bedroom is so much nicer than a studio.

Is there any way you can swing a two bedroom unit? That's really the best solution as everyone has their own bed and the late risers can sleep in the second bedroom and the early riser can sleep on the sofa bed. Not cheap, I know. The studios are really hotel rooms. They're nice but NOTHING near as nice as the one and two bedrooms which feel like real homes to us.

Definitely is a better atmosphere. I've traveled with teenagers. If any are boys they can be eating machines. The full refrigerator is a real plus in the 1 bedroom. Even if you don't cook at all, you can stock it with sodas, ice cream, fruit, pizza, etc. Handy for munchies, and frankly it can be a money saver!

I'd go with the 1 b/r. It's the whole reason that DVC is so much better than just a regular room! And since this is your first DVC trip you'll get the full impact of your decision...

Go for the one bedroom. It has the jacuzzi, the laundry. It's just better.

I wonder if DVC would allow one adult and multiple under 18 to check into 2 units, they shouldn't. DCL would not allow it unless connecting cabins. I personally would go with the 1 BR or a 2 BR. Remember a 2 BR is not that much more than 2 studios.

I would concerned that the 2 studios would not be near each other. Keep in mind there are no connecting studios. Some of the resorts have some studios next to each other but there is no guarantee of that.

MY oldest DD is over 18.The 1 bedroom is very close in points to 2 studios.A 2 bedroom is a lot more points than 2 studios.

It actually varies by time of year. I was thinking more about the fact that a studio plus a 1 BR is more and confusing with this issue, sorry. I still vote for the 2 BR if you can swing it, maybe you could get some cheap last minute points as a rental. Regardless, enjoy.

We had the same type of situation, we decided on two studios in the end.
We will not be in them much. Pretty much our days are spent out at the park and are doing the dining plan as well. Nice to have four beds (even though two are sofa beds- so what) and its nicer to have two bathrooms.
As far as the jacuzzi goes, we have one at home that we hardly ever use, so we decided that wasn't really a factor in our choosing what was best. Also it will be so nice not to have to drag the aerobed for once. We did that on a couple of other trips. If we do find ourselves with downtime then we will all hang out together in one studio until bedtime.
Next time we will do the two bedroom option.

A 2 bedroom at OKW is almost the same as two studios at another resort. I would NOT do 2 studios with 3 teens. I'm quite sure DVC would frown on that as well, since you will not be close to each other and cannot connect. All DVC 1 bedrooms will have a king bed in the master and a queen sleep sofa in the living room. Not everyone will have a real bed. I'd think about the 2 bedroom, but then, I don't like more than 2 per studio room anyway.

diane her oldest is 18 - Disney will not object in the least...

an 18 year old can check into any WDW resort including the DVC WITHOUT her parents....
