The official WDW site park hours page lists 2 SpectroMagic performances -- 10:30PM and 12:00AM. The park closes at midnight yet SpectroMagic starts at midnight??

Anyone have a guess what's really gonna happen? Anyone been there on 7/4 before? I'm sure it will be mobbed and I wasn't planning on going, but a SpectroMagic at midnight (and twice in 1 night) would be kind of cool.

Maybe they screwed up and mean fireworks again at midnight?

Thanks for any help or shared experiences from July 4th's past.

I have never visited WDW on the 4th. I'm just going to bump this back to page one for you. I'm sure one of our veterans can answer your question.

When I called last week to get info I about park hours, I asked the CM about that. She was surprised to see that they were having parades, fireworks, and Fantasmic scheduled to start at park closing time.

I plan to be in the MK on July 4. I think it'll be cool to watch Spectro at midnight. (I hope DS and I can last that long)
;)

When Disney started mucking around with the hours, I started compiling a historical record of Disney park hours to see how bad or not the hours have become. Running Spectromagic at park closing is something that has been done in the park quite a bit. So if things don't change, yes, everything will shut down (MS shops excluded, probably) but you will be able to see the parade.

If you'd like to check out past July hours, click here or here to go to my main hours page.

Thanks everyone. I guess I'll just keep my eye on the hours as we get closer to our trip.

They had two spectros last year- the second at midnight. The crowds really started to clear out after the first. It was packed, but we spent the day at AK, did dinner and fireworks at the Poly, and went into MK after the 9pm fireworks. It was kind of neat to see the place packed...with lots of red, white, and blue. Ren

2 Spectros during busy times isn't unusual, and while we were there at Easter, I believe they had Spectro scheduled at closing. My family out-voted me and wouldn't see it again. They think that just because we saw it over Thanksgiving that we don't need to see it again. They don't understand my need to see it at every possible opportunity :bounce: <---- me getting to see it or me hopping mad that my family would actually groan and complain when I mention I want to see it.

I do think they do that to help control crowds. The first spectro is right after the fireworks, therefore trying to help prevent an extreme mass exodus out of the park. It can get so crowded outside the gates that there is nowhere for people to go. the second parade also helps prevent a mass exodus after the first parade, keeping people that missed the first one in the park, since ALOT of people will miss the first one since the route will be so crowded.
