We are staying at CBR for 11 nights (2 days room only, followed by 9 nights fd package). We have the fd package booked thru a travel agent. She said she did advise Disney that the 2 reservations should be linked. I also asked her to request a close room to OPR. Should I do online check in? Our flight lands around 6 pm. How will I know that we are not going to have to check out of one room and check into another room? When I called Disney once, they said they cannot look at the reservation because it was made by a TA, so could not verify requests.

When you do online checkin, don't make any requests that could possibly knock the other request off.

You absolutely will get two sets of magicbands, because you have two reservation numbers. You will know that you won't have to move at some point during your stay. Ask at checkin, and you'll probably have to make sure of it later on as well.

If you want to streamline your check-in process a little bit, you could do online check-in for the first reservation. They may end up texting you your room number and telling you you can go straight to your room (which is GREAT!), however, I would still stop at the front desk and let them know you have two reservations and you would like to stay in the same room (they may or may not be able to tell you then if you can keep the room). If you have the same room category booked for both stays, chances are, you won't be moving. Regardless of whether you stay in the same room or move, you will still have to check-out and check-in on the day your first reservation ends and the second one starts. I would go to the front desk first thing that morning to check-in/check-out and get things squared away. Again, as long as you booked the same room category for both stays, you probably won't have to move.

I've added on nights mid-trip a number of times and they were able to tell if I had to move as soon as I booked the add on. I did have to every time, even when it was same category but it might have been because the reservations for the extra nights were made after the fact.
