2 rooms at POP vs. 1 room at Beach Club

I recently made the decision for our family of four (grown) adults to share one room at BW versus two rooms at POR (though the cost was about the same). Not gonna lie, it will be tough, as the Epcot resort rooms are a good bit smaller than those at the Poly or CR. The hardest part for us though, is having to share one bathroom, as it takes that much longer getting ready for the day.

But for us the sacrifice is worth it, for proximity to the World Showcase alone. Absolutely do get the park hoppers; it would be a shame being so close to WS and not able to enter.

It depends what you "value"

Do you value the luxury and convenience a Deluxe gives you?

Staying at a value like Pop is fine if all your are looking for is a place to rest your head at night. You sacrifice things like:
1) Better food options
2) Longer rides to the parks using the Bus system
3) Potentially noisier rooms as "groups" tend to stay at Value resorts.

Pop has some fun theming, but the rooms are small with no frills. I've stayed at Pop (two rooms) when my son was 3. (other room was for grandparents). It was a great time.

I would also look at it this way. What would you do with that $1300? You could do a lot with it .. Stay an extra day? Get a few extra experiences (parties) or eat a nicer restaurant, etc. etc.

We stopped sharing a room with all 4 of us ten years ago. No one would get decent sleep.

I started staying at Pop a few years ago, and it’s a fun place! With the renovations, real beds for the kids, their own bathroom, great bus service, I’d go with Pop. I mostly go with just my youngest, and the food court is fine for getting a late night snack. We’ve also liked the “room service” for pasta and salads.

I do love the Epcot area though! To me two rooms would trump that though.

Even though extra space would be nice, we have decided to stay with BC so the teens can enjoy some independence/time to explore, use SAB, and we can expand our QS dining options. Having said that, I suppose I better add the park hopper option to enjoy the full amenities of BC? :)

I think you made a good choice! Have a great trip :wizard:.

yes, get those hoppers!

:thumbsup2

I realize OP has made her decision but for us once my kids hit those mid to late teens one room was an absolute no go. We started doing two rooms at Pop and we all loved that. We had stayed at all levels including DVC one and two bedrooms but the two rooms at Pop was a real winner once we didn't have the DVC option.

We stayed at BC for the first time last week. We have one teenager. The room was nice and quiet, and the walk to Epcot and boat to HS were so convenient. We had hoppers & it was worth it.

Pop. We have done both value and deluxe. Our teens much prefer the extra room. No question. They do not seem to notice the difference in amenities at all. It is parents who seem to notice that. Lol. The fact that you will save money makes it even less of a no brainer. I have found it is not always the case that 2 value rooms are cheaper than one deluxe.

Edit: Sorry! Just read through the thread and saw you already decided!

Wow - You all had some great reasons to support both options! I was really undecided, but what helped was calling WDW and discovering that there weren't even 2 rooms available to POP (only 1) and that they had no rooms available with the code that I had, thus making my current BC reservation much less money! That made the decision easier. We are, positively, keeping with our Pool/Lagoon View room at Beach Club :)

Congrats on your upcoming Beach Club stay! I have to wonder though, how even with a 30% discount, a lagoon view room at BC comes out cheaper than two full-price rooms at POP. Because with my calculations, those POP rooms would still be a good bit less.

You are probably right, and because there weren't 2 rooms available at POP, with or without the discount, I didn't even have them price it...I just assumed it was cheaper at BC because when I priced it the first time, with the discount, it was cheaper only somewhat cheaper at 1,300 to stay at POP? Sorry to assume, without an actual quote. I'm a big picture planner...not a good number cruncher - lol ;)

Well at least you were able to get 30% off, unlike our 20% (for a standard-view room). We were initially going to get two rooms at POR, which would still have been less money than staying in one discounted room at the Boardwalk. Hoping it will be worth it for both of us!

Like you, I am still wondering if 2 rooms would've been better...I hope our choices are worth it also :) When is your visit to BW?

May 12 thru 19. It's gonna be really hot by then, but have to wait for our daughter to be thru with grad school exams.

And two rooms would undoubtedly have been better (more space, privacy, two bathrooms). But we like the proximity of the Epcot resorts. It'll be a looong week in that room though, for sure! ;)

Absolutely...we are headed to BC March 20-27th. I'd love to hear what you thought of BW after your May trip! Enjoy :)
