2 reservations at AKL

We are going to the AKL next April. The first night we are there is still peak season and then the rates change for the rest of the stay. So we have 2 reservations. I requested that we not have to change rooms between the reservations. My first question is, have people done this before, and do you generally get to stay in the room, or do you usually end up having to change. My next question deals with the kind of room. We have a reservation for a standard room. Do I stand a better chance of getting an upgrade for the second part of the stay if I am willing to change rooms? Is it more likely to get an upgrade during the regular season than during peak? And lastly, I also requested a room with bunk beds, do people who request rooms with these beds usually get them?

We were in a similar situation at WL last summer. I had 2 ressies because we were doing a package for the first 4 nights, then switched to a room only package for the remainder of the stay. We called them a few days in advance to say that we wanted to stay in the same room throughout the trip. They made a notation on our ressies. Upon check-in, we find out we were upgraded from standard view to a courtyard(water) view and never had to switch rooms. It was great! Just make sure they know you have consecutive ressies!

You will not have to change rooms, and you will also probably not get an upgrade in the middle. If you get the upgrade it will be at the beginning for the entire trip.

It seems that most, but not all, requests for bunkbeds are being met. My bet is that the room controler is basing it on need, two teens of opposite genders would take precedence over one child that thinks bunkbeds are "cool".

Hi there - I did this at AKL last year

I had one night at the high season rate followed by 9 nights at the value season rate... I had 2 reservations.

I stayed in the same room but they slipped my bill for the first night under my door... then I had to go checkout and get new cards - but it only took a minute and was no problem.

I think if you receive an upgrade it will be when you check in.
