For those little moments when the DSLR or the camcorder are not to hand...

From my first day playing with the phone, I can't wait until I have it in the parks in August for one of those magic moments! Like the time Alice picked her to ride the teacups and I decided to go camera free... :confused3

Too cute!
And great quality. I am waiting for mine to be shipped. :woohoo:

Too bad you can't use it as a phone while holding it.

Funny, don't seem to have that problem with my phone.

I was trying to illustrate the advantage I have found with having a better (still not great but I wasn't expecting much given it's size) quality camera to hand. I know that also we have other phones with video now some HD but not as closely integrated with a decent video editing app like iMovie and sharing options.

The iPhone thread already discusses 'the issue' and I'll post my experience there.

And don't forget about the screen discoloration. These problems are the reason why you never buy anything when it first comes out. They have to work the bugs out of it. Esp. electronics and cars. Not to mention when it comes to electronics the longer you wait the less you pay. By waiting you not only save money but you avoid most of the problems as well.

3.15 megapixal is not good resolution when it comes to cameras today. Heck our very first digital camera that we bought 6 or 7 years ago had that in it. There are camera phones out there with 12 megapixals in them.

iPhone 4 has more megapixels than 3.15! I believe it is at least 5 (or maybe more.) Yes, that is not as good as some other phones, but after all it's a phone not a camera...if I want 10 megapixels, I'll use my Cybershot.

iPhone 4 here and no screen discolorations...I'm certainly glad I didn't wait, as I probably couldn't get one until August at this rate!

I'm having none of the above mentioned problems with my new iPhone 4. No screen discoloration...no dropped calls...

I am quite pleased with my new iPhone! The screen resolution is amazing...the camera is pretty awesome...and it is super fast!

If I am wanting to take really good pictures, of course I won't be using my phone as my camera. I've got 3 other cameras, including my DSLR, to use when I want those really good pictures. But it is nice to have a camera on hand at all times in order to catch those unexpected photo opportunities!

There will always be people who feel it necessary to rain on your parade, OP...don't let it get to you! :)

The screen discoloration issue was a result of the bonding agent that is used to bond the screen and glass not fully dry/cured. People who reported this followed up with word that it went away.

This is true. However, this would totally preclude buying an Android phone as a new model comes out about every month.;)

I think Apple has proven that bigger isn't always better. Sure there are phones out there with 8 MP cameras. It doesn't matter how many MP it is if it uses a crappy sensor. I'd much rather have better 5 MP pictures than crappy 8 MP ones. I've read many reviews and photo comparisons the last 2 days and in all of them the iPhone's camera beat the competition. I do wish they used a higher MP camera for the front camera, though.

:thumbsup2 It always amazes me when a thread is started to illustrate something positive and people who have only negative things to say join in. It almost seems like they want to fight. The community board is a great place for that sort of thing - leave the unplugged board nice. I agree with Brandie - don't let the negatives bring you down, OP.

I believe halbeib has previous on this, concerning the iPhone too I think

As any camera enthusiast knows, the number of megapixel doesn't necessarily correlate with sensor quality. From what I've seen so far, the iPhone4 camera is every bit as good as any compact sub-$200 camera, and better than most of them.

Based on this you should never buy any consumer products at all as there will always be something better or cheaper in the future.

It's like anything not everyone will have the same problem/s. I just prefer to wait until I am sure the problems have been worked out or I don't buy it. My luck I would get stuck with the lemon so why waste my money. Also I do not feel the need to have the most up to date item available esp. when I know a few months down the road it will be cheaper and not long after that a new one will be coming along anyhow. When it comes to electronics there is always something newer and better around the corner. It is impossible to stay up to date. What is considered the latest tech. today will be old news tomorrow.

I am sure they are already working on a replacement for this new Iphone as we speak. Either that or its replacement altogether. There is tech. out there that most of us have never heard about. They are just waiting until they can get the bugs worked out and the price cheap enough to make it worth marketing.
