2 reasons we are happy with the Iphone4...

iPhone 4 has more megapixels than 3.15! I believe it is at least 5 (or maybe more.) Yes, that is not as good as some other phones, but after all it's a phone not a camera...if I want 10 megapixels, I'll use my Cybershot.

Actually there is mixed info. out there about that. One site I read said 3.15 but it might have meant to say 3.15 more than the previous as it was comparing the two. Another site I read today did say it had the 5. But even that is still low compared to other phones on the market. I realize you can just use a camera but for the price the iphone should have a better one in it imo.

The screen discoloration issue was a result of the bonding agent that is used to bond the screen and glass not fully dry/cured. People who reported this followed up with word that it went away.

Yes I heard that but I also read they had the same problem with the new mac computer that just came out in Jan. Those they did end up replacing for the people. That is one thing you can say about them at least they are willing to try to fix the problem for the people.

This is true. However, this would totally preclude buying an Android phone as a new model comes out about every month.;)

I did not avocate buying any particular phone. As a matter of fact we are still using a two year old motorola razer with none of the bells and whistles that phones have today. We have a camera on it that is about it. :rotfl2: I do not feel the need to be connected every min. of the day to my phone. Matter of fact there are many times that we forget the phone at home while we are out. While it would be nice sometimes to have access to the internet while out I can live without it and without the extra expense of a data plan. Probably if the data plan was not so expensive on top of a calling plan we would have upgraded our phone long ago. But we just can not justify the extra expense. Than again for as little as we would probably use it we might still feel it is not worth it.

I understand though that some people need these types of phones in todays age for work and what not.

Based on this you should never buy any consumer products at all as there will always be something better or cheaper in the future.

Obviously you always have to weigh the need with the price/problems. But just to buy something so that you can say you have the newest and the greatest isn't a reason to buy it. If you do buy it based on that than you should not be surprised when you have problems with it. Companies are known to push products out the door before they are ready because they know the consumer will still buy it. Esp. products that have a large following or a good bit of competition.

Microsoft did this with the xbox 360. They knew it was not what they ultimately wanted it to be but they pushed it out the door because the competition was coming out with a new console. Thus those that bought when it first came out experienced the problems that those who bought a few months later did not.

You ultimately have to decide as a consumer what is most important to you. I would rather buy a product that has been on the market for awhile vs. the latest and greatest thing. I will let those of you that have to have it when it is first released experience the problems so that I can make an informed decision based on the reviews later and even better spend less for that same product or for a more improved product. I call this being a smart consumer.

So thank you to all of you that have to have it when it is first released. You make my life a lot easier and cheaper.

BTW: I am not saying that I would never buy an Apple product (I think they have some innovative tech.) I am just saying that based on information at hand so far on this new phone I would not buy it. Honestly when and if we replace our current cell phone I do not know what we will end up with yet. Probably just another simple phone without all the bells and whistles. That is if that is even possible when the time comes. :rotfl2:

OP: I am glad that you are happy with your purchase. None of us like buying a product and than realizing we made a horrible mistake so I am happy for you that you like yours. And from what I have read Apple is making it right for those that have experienced problems. If only every company had good customer service like that.

I dont drink coffee.

I dont like coffee.

I have a coffee pot from 1979 that works when I need to make coffee.

Coffee pots are too expensive and too complicated.

With all that being said....the coffee pot you bought sucks and you should buy the one I like better.

I'm sure that conversation seems ridiculous and silly.....but we have it every couple of days in regards to cell phones.

I cant believe that anyone that has no interest in an iphone or owning an iphone or has no need for an iphone would get involved in a conversation like this.

If you dont want, need or have interest in an iphone.......dont buy one.

It all seems rather simple.

Don't talk so daft Kevin!
Surely you must know by now that if you own something different to someone else then you must, by nature, bring down whatever it is that they have!!

Phones, computers, cars, holidays, TV's, the list goes on... ;)

:goodvibes

Kevin hit it on the head. Holy crap people! It's obvious that someone just wants to argue/complain/say that the iPhone sucks or they wouldn't have even posted in this thread. Would it make you feel better if I told you that I respect you because you don't need to be connected to the Internet like I seem to.

On the iPhone topic though....I agree with the op. I bought a very nice consumer HD camcorder for our last trip to wdw. While I loved the quality of the camera it got old carrying it around by day 5 or so. I was going to spend $200 dollars for a flip cam to fit in my pocket for the future and the iPhone solves that problem for me. Not to mention that it is smaller than a flip cam. And contrary to popular belief I CAN make phone calls with it and the Internet connection is surprisingly fast(thought thAt it would be the same as the 3G). I have two iphone4's and one of the does have the antenna problem. There is no excuse for this but the phone still works as it should as long as we don't touch that one spot. We always have cases for our phones so it isn't a problem for us but apple should still 'fix' our phone.

My Iphone had the discoloration in the corner. It has since gone away. I just do not understand why people have to slam the hell out of the phone. I mean some people act like the Iphone is the mother inlaw from hell. I remember i had Allhell for about a year, talk about crap service. Not to mention there phone selection sucked. For the people on here who are slamming the Iphone. I think the Droid is junk. Verizon has drop calls all the time. Now that i said that i will get slammed.:lmao::hug:

The people you hear bashing the Iphone are doing it because of the exclusivity clause with Apple, not because of the phone itself. AT&T shows complete disregard for people not in large urban areas. We want an end to the exclusivity clause so we can enjoy the iphone as well, or at least for AT&T to end its tower building strike in the middle states.

Not entirely true. Here in Canada the iPhone is on multiple carriers. IMO, the reason some people feel so negatively about Apple products, and the iPhone specifically is the zealousness of some of their followers.

Apple blatantly lied in their "Mac vs PC" ads for years and got away with it, mainly because they are such a small percentage of the computer market. They simply can provide features that Microsoft cannot due to Microsoft being ruled a monopoly.

With the iPhone, however, they have very successfully become one of the market leaders, at least in North America. This is despite extremely basic features of a phone being missing on each iPhone release. Cut and paste, irregular headphone jack, dropping calls, an antenna that doesn't work etc. While there are work-arounds for each issue, the faults are often disregarded by some iPhone users, as they adapt to their phone rather than having their phone adapt top them.

Also, Jobs' attitude contributes to people being on one side of the fence or the other when it comes to Apple. You either love his ingenuity and style, or hate his arrogance and creation of such a closed system. His disregard for Flash on iPhones is a perfect example of this. Arrogance or foresight is in the eye of the beholder.

No one can challenge the innovations that Apple and the iPhone have brought to today's technology (although many of their "innovations" were done elsewhere and just successfully marketed by Apple). They produce excellent hardware, but it is not the only excellent hardware out there.
