2 Haunted Mansions, 1 Day: Grand Finale & Link to Pre-Trip Report for Feb. Trip!

Thanks for the Adventurer's Club review Lurky!

I have always wanted to check it out and included it in our plans on several occasions but when time rolled around I just never made it there. The news of PI closing was a particularly painful bit of news.:sad2:

OH what a great last review of AC! It's a great club, but I think you really do have to be in that mindset for it. I love it, but dh tolerated it for me. He said it was ok, and I don't have to force him to go, but it isn't his 1st choice for entertainment. WOW on the other clubs though! What time were you there? Mannequins and 8Trax are usually pretty hopping when i've been there. But then again, that was a few millenia ago. ;)

Great update, as always. I admit, I had to flip between the real-camera pics and the iphone pics to decide which ones are better. And I still have not reached a consensus. Too bad about the clubs being empty and glum looking but the Adventurer's Club sounds fun. I was actually AT Disney World when they'd made the announcement about the closing of the clubs but we never reached that area of DTD (or more than the first 15 feet actually). I can't wait for the next update!

And then the show was over. We funneled out past the bathrooms and back around to the Main Salon, where I was promptly spotted by… DISer rpmdfw (of Rob & Scott’s Big Fat Gay Disney Wedding fame)!

It was really fun to meet him and Scott in person -- and in their natural habitat! Not only are they HUGE Adventurer’s Club fans, but they actually met there, and they held their wedding at the club six days later!

Hey there! Just wanted to pop onto your trippie and say it was awfully nice meeting you guys, too!

Seems like you enjoyed your time at the Adventurers Club. Even if you weren't "that into it", I'm glad you got to experience it before it closed. The last week of operation wasn't the best time to get a good idea of what it was all about, either. It was a lot more fun when they weren't trying to cram three bazillion people into every room.

Let us know the next time you'll be in town and we'll try to stalk your nightlife destinations again! :rotfl2:

:Carrie, I swear, weren't you guys busy enough? WDW should have set up a meet & greet just for you & Patrick. We could have all lined up with our autograph books and big, fat pens..."Look! Look! It's Carrie!" :rotfl:

BWAAAAAhahahahahah! :rotfl2:

Yeah, I don't get it. I mean, why can't they keep AC and just close all those other places?

I think we were there around... 10 or 10:30pm. Maybe after we left a slew of clubgoers descended on PI and shook their booties at the BET Soundstage :lmao:

Hi!! :wave2:

I feel so guilty about not falling in love with AC (Hathaway Brown excepted) because I know how much it means to you! Thanks for the explanation, though - I bet it was a totally different scene during the last week. Here's hoping they come to their senses and put it back in the plans for Night Kingdom, or add it to TokyoDisneySea or do SOMETHING with that great idea. :goodvibes

...And I think we are going to need your insider knowledge of Orlando to find some new nightlife destinations for you to stalk us in now that PI's gone...:thumbsup2

:lmao:
Sadly, we and our little band of former Adventurers are having to venture out into the wilds of Orlando nightlife with much the same quandry. "Where the heck do we go NOW? :confused3 "

First of all, your Moroccan wedding was so beautiful, it was devastatingly gorgeous. What a knockout set of pictures. it looked like SO MUCH FUN! I love, love, LOVE your style. I have to apologize as I haven't gotten all the way through that TR and kind of lost it some how (maybe cause it's closed) but!

I ran across a post of yours and noticed your little slide show and went hunting for newest trip and here I am!

Subbing!

Wait - you didn't go to Hollywood Studios the whole time you were in WDW? WOW! :cutie:

Ok so I'm a long time lurker and I just realized when they closed your wedding report thread we got cheated out of ever finding out about you home reception. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would still want to know about it so maybe when you get done with this one you can start a new novel. :rotfl:

I must admit that I was also looking forward to hearing about the home reception.

Something about big bowls of frosting wasn't there? :confused3

Carrie! I'm gonna go back and read what I missed over the last couple days, but I just wanted to tell you...

I *accidentally* found the wedding gazebo!! :rotfl:

All this time, I had no idea where it was, and then we found it on our way back to Paradise Pier the other night :)

Oh, and FYI - when you hit up Haunted Mansion Holiday (again), take the 'stand-by' line and where it forks into 2, pick the one on the right - it'll take you straight into the mansion because apparently everyone's afraid to use the empty line! ;)

darn the wedding board for squashing our TR addiction!! :headache:

Whohoo! Thanks for the tip! ;) And was the wedding gazebo around the corner from the pool? If so, I think I saw it on this trip I'm writing about right now! But not exactly a private spot.... :confused3

Yeah, it's too bad actions of a few spoiled the fun for so many.... :sad2:

So the deal is, the Mods will unlock my wedding trippie for, like, an hour, so I can post my account of the at-home reception. This makes me very anxious about getting things just right (and going back in to fix some typos!) in my brief window of opportunity, so I haven't done anything about it yet.

But you all deserve to hear the Story of the Ginormous Bowl of Frosting, so I will try to get my act together! :rotfl:

I was thinking the same thing! I'm not sure where the pool is, but the gazebo is facing the little private street that runs alongside Downtown Disney (if you swing a left at the giant Sorcerer's hat). We were taking the "scenic route" back to Paradise Pier and found it. I thought it would be in the "backyard" of the hotel, I guess? Nope. Anyone can walk by and watch your wedding. Kind of weird - but it's very pretty :)

(Also there's a mini gazebo a little bit to the left of the main one, where people apparently like to go make out after dark )

I'm not a total creeper, so I thought I'd pop in and say hi! :wave2:

I read your wedding report and loved every minute of it, and was also sad that we never got to hear about the reception afterwards. But this thread is tiding me over...

Love, love, loving your trippie.
I will have to take some time & read your wedding trip report & look at your pictures too as that slide show has some gorgeous photos.

I went to the AC years ago & had such a good time. So sad it's closed. What is the newly refurbed PI supposed to be like anyway?

They're looking to bring in nothing but third party shopping and dining similar to Planet Hollywood, Rainforest Cafe, Ragland Road, and T-Rex. :headache:

Whoa - thanks for the tip! We're meeting some friends at Napa Rose tonight - maybe afterward, DH and I can make a little detour over to the Disneyland Hotel.... :rotfl:

I'll write about it - promise! It just may be a bit. I wonder if it's possible to subscribe to a bookmarked thread? Then you'd be notified when my update finally goes up!

Love, love, loving your trippie.

rpmdfw hit the nail on the head - it's basically gonna look like a mall in any major city... :sad2:

OK - I'm working on the next update to this trippie today! Lots of pix to sort through.... :thumbsup2
