2 free roundtrip tickets

I just got my SW visa card in the mail today and called to activate it. Luckily I held on a little while longer to listen to the lady ask about why I chose to get that card. After telling her for the 2 free flights promotion, she said only 1 free flight was listed on my account. She put me on hold and then came back to tell me she sent their marketing department an email about me saying I applied for the 2 free flights. She told me I would receive written notification of the change in the mail and that I'd get the 2 flights. Please make sure that you check!

Same thing happened to me. If you got the card for the 2 free round trip flights, you need to call and varify.

Thanks for the tip! :thumbsup2

How long after you applied, did you receive your card? 2 weeks or so??

I applied for it as soon as I saw the offer here on the first page. I looked on my Chase Accounts a day later and saw that it had been added. February 4th I got an email saying it was accepted and today I received the card.

What a mess! I just received my card in the mail today. I called to activate the card. After activiation the girl on the phone asked me if I had any questions about the rewards. I said, yes. I don't see any mention of the 2 free flights in my paperwork. After putting me on hold for a long time, she returns to the line and stated that I did not have a bonus code associated with my card. What a joke. I asked to be transferred to a supervisor so I could cancel the card. I spoke to Heather who is a Supervisor with Card Services. She confirmed that there was no bonus code. But all Southwest cards get at least 1 free flight. She escalated my claim to get my acquisition code applied to my account. She said to give it a few days, call back and I should see my bonus rewards. IF I am not satisfied with this, I do have 30 days from open date to canel without paying the $59 fee.

My husband received a card today too. I'm sure this will be the same fiasco for him when he gets home in about an hour.

How do you use your rewards online to book a flight? I'm on there now and there is a place to redeem gift cards but not place for points?

I got my approval email yesterday and it said "free flight", not free "flights." Based on this thread and the problems here, I called the toll free number and sure enough it showed I had only one free flight. They say they had added enough points for 2 free flights, but we'll see.

Customer service rep and supervisor stated it was because I didn't have the right code. I told them that there was nowhere to put in a code. It is an automatic link. That is says everywhere 2 free flights. I told her she needed to let someone know because it appears to be false advertising. We'll see what happens!

I applied the other day. After reading all the problems I printed the page, just in case I run into the same problem

Both my husband and I applied. I see that I have been approved but do not see anything for my husband yet. Should I assume he is denied or does it take longer for some. I have heard nothing. Funny thing is that he is the one with the job!

Well I just got an approval for the card.....however on the email it said where will you go on your free flight:confused:There is a number to call and I will. Anyone have luck straightening this out????

did you have to make a purchase first?

Yes, the customer service supervisor said you have to make a purchase first.

I called after receiving the same email. I was told that after my first purchase I should get 16 more credits added to my account. That is supposed to be enough for the 2nd free flight.

I don't know what the problem is, but I think it is false advertising and told them that they should alert someone to the problem. They didn't seem to care.....

I haven't applied for a credit card for years, but when I saw the two free flights offer, I pulled the trigger and was approved. I got the same email that says "free flight" singular. I did read the terms before applying, although I wish I had printed them out. I think it "may" have mentioned a purchase, but I'm not positive. The beginning page on Southwest does say "2 Free Flights with just one swipe" so I do think you have to purchase something to get two flights. I just hope there are no problems with this offer.

ETA: I just went to the second page of the application, and it does clearly say you get the two free flights after your first purchase. I printed that page out. The email is rather disconcerting though, since there is no mention of the ability to get a second flight. Chase needs to get its act together. I said I would never use Chase again.....They had better come through.

No, unfortunately, customer service told me that I would not get 2 free flights only 1 after the first purchase because I didn't put in the correct code. I explained there is no place for a code it is a link to an application that says 2 free flights after first purchase. They didn't understand why it would say that, but said they put in the request for the second flight. Very weird, the whole thing.

I'm trying to wrap my head around the new RR that's happening 3/1.

I applied for the card and was accepted. Okay, so I have enough points for two free flights.

However, when the program changes, flights will not all "cost" the same in points/credits - so I might NOT have enough points for two free flights (we can only travel Pres. week, normally an expensive week to try and get out of New England).

Is my thinking correct? Might have to cancel the card...

yes, you are correct. the amount of points you need to redeem for a free flight will depend on the cost of the flight. You may have enough points, but you won't know until the flights are available to book. This part I don't like about the new program; on the old program I never had to worry about the cost, I just needed to find a flight that had award seats available. Now I'll be price watching again :headache:

Except that, the way I understand it, is that since you have the credits now they will remain credits until you use them up on your 2 free flights. However, any points earned after 3/1 will be just that, points. You should have your credits grandfathered in since you had them before the conversion.

I applied for this card maybe 5 or 6 days ago. Have not received an e-mail yet. Now I'm afraid I typed the e-mail wrong.

How long after application did you get e-mail? Maybe I should call them?

unless the points from the credit card don't post until after 3/1...KateandPete, has your credit card statement closed and have the credit card points posted to your rapid reward account yet?

Well, after trying DH's card (which I applied for just minutes after my own), his account is showing the 2 free roundtrip flights after first purchase.

I've been on the phone with Chase and sending emails through their website. Over the phone most are unhelpful. Through email, I have a return email stating that I am showing 1 free RT flight. It stated after first purchase to call back to have the reminder credits added. So I used the card Thursday, waited for it to post of Friday and called last night. After going through 2 useless card services members, I demanded to talk to a supervisor. I reached a very helpful member who told me he filled out a report with his contact at SW. The supervisor told me that I should see the 2 RT credits after my acount closes next which is March 2nd.

Now I have 2 questions?

1. Will they really show up or will I have to call back and fight some more?
2. If they don't post until after 3-2, will they be flight coupons or points? And if points, how many?

BTW, the supervisor said that he has heard there have been a lot of issues with this SW promotion recently.

Must be all my DIS friends calling for the credits.
