2 free roundtrip tickets

So I just received my Credit Card in the mail today and just got off the phone with card services to verify that my 2 Free Flights will be activated as soon as I make my first purchase! :cool1:

Just letting everyone know that as soon as your receive your card, to call card services to verify that you will be receiving those flights! :thumbsup2

Just to clear something up - I called.

You have to make a purchase. After you do so, your credits for free flights will be transferred after the end of that billing cycle......so for example. I purchased on Feb. 15. They told me that my billing cycle ends March 18. So after that sometime the credits will show up in my SW account.

They did say when I called SW that they will honor the tickets AS LONG as the plane doesnt already have the capacity for rewards on it. Meaning, that only certain number of seats are for rewards, etc. If that makes sense.

HOpe that helps!

thinking about doing this....thanks for the info..just trying to figure out if i should wait until after march 1st..would it then be easier for the transition or are they already giving you the points instead of 16 credits?

I'm even more confused by this thread. I applied about a week ago and got an instant approval. I can see the account on my Chase online account. I don't have the card yet so, obviously, I won't close by 3/1. I did the one with two round trip flights. So, here are my points of confusion.

1. If my statement doesn't close before 3/1 or I don't make purchases before 3/1 will I receive my credits correctly?

2. If I receive 32 credits that transfer to 38,400 points would I be able to get more than two round trip tickets if they are fairly inexpensive flights? I read 12,000 for a $200 round trip flight on the new program which would mean I could get three round trip flights and still have points left over.

so there was a link problem? I had concerns about what filled out 1st....now when I click that link it is all blank- not even an app. form.
FWIW,I used the link found here in 1st post- it worked perfectly and said I was approved.
I am going to assume the first one I did never went thru. If I hear differently,I will call the cc company and work it out.....I hope this works after all the hassle!

From what I read on flyertalk, you will be grandfathered into the old program because those were the terms under which you applied for the card. That means that you will get two award tickets that are subject to blackout dates and ticket availability. They will not be converted to the points used in the new program.

BTW, there is a rumor that they will be offering existing card holders 600 points if they add an authorized user between 3/1-4/15. I hope so. I'll add one of the kids to my card.

for those who got their free flights, how do you get them? I've had my card for three weeks, made a purchase and paid for it yet have heard nothing about my free tickets yet.

From the offer's webpage:

Previous and existing Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards personal Cardmembers are not eligible for this bonus offer.

when your cc statement closes, the credits/points will transfer to your Southwest Rapid Reward account. then you can use them for your flights.

Thanks, it's only been two weeks so I guess I've got awhile to wait yet. You always have to read the small print!

I talked to Chase and SW reward people about this. 2 free RT flights will be converted to the new reward program; 2 free RT = 38400 points after first use of the card.

Not true since I used the card three weeks ago and already paid the bill and still nothing.

Is the $59 annual fee added to your credit card bill? Would this be considered a first purchase? Thanks!

Why don't you call SW reward and Chase to confirm. I wouldn't waste my time to post untrue statement.

Here's the fine print from the aplication

you have to wait for the statement to close. I got my 2 free flights(really, points that equal enough to redeem for 2 flights) the day my statement closed.

Well that's encouraging. I was a little bummed out by what I was reading over at flyertalk. I would much rather have the points than the RR 1.0 Awards. There's concern that there will be a very limited number of seats available for members trying to use their RR 1.0 Awards. Plus, I'm not sure whether we would be using them in the next year or not.

Thanks for the info straight from the horse's mouth!

Now to figure out whether it's worth letting my two RR credits just expire or to "buy" the remaining 14 credits with points.

My statement did close 2 weeks ago and nothing. Did you get the points added right into your Southwest rewards? Mine still says 0

yes, they posted to my SW rapid reward within 1 - 2 days of the statement closing. Sorry...

So I think I want to wait for 3/1 so I won't have to worry about seat availability--but what if the offer ends after 2/28? Anybody heard anything about that?
