OK, how long has this been there? I just noticed a "Search Tags" box above the threads. :confused3 What is it? And does it work any better than the icky search?

Also, about 2 wks ago, I noticed the "Related Threads" feature is back at the bottom of a thread. But honestly, it returns results that have little in common to the thread. :rotfl: I wonder if it will ever work like it used to.

lol.....so if I've got this right, now WE need to give keywords so the new search engine can find a post.....but the old search engine did it fine without us having to enter keywords.

yeah, i get it. :rotfl2:

thanks.

Well, Splash, just now I typed "SKUNKS" in the "search tags" box and it came up with NO SEARCH FOUND (something like that)...and yet skunks have been discussed all night long :confused3

Why would it be so hard for a thread starter to type a keyword into that slot :confused3 ? Once people start using that system, it will really help make searching for particular information easier. It should make it much simpler to find threads that are specifically about "Port Orleans" or whatever, and could ideally prevent the pulling up of every single thread which has the briefest mention of "Port Orleans" (or New Orleans or whatever might be generated). I for one have tried to search (old and new search) for information before about particular things (Disney and non-Disney), but I usually ended up with a bunch of threads that may have just had the briefest mention of the word I was looking up. Being able to search by the actual thread topic would be nice.

And I started a skunk thread not long ago...and skunks was in the title. You can't find it...and neither does "Related Topics" in the ongoing skunk thread.

My point is...old system worked. It would have found all the skunk threads by search & "Related Threads" would have found them.

NOW, a human will have to enter appropriate keywords to HELP search find stuff. Ahhhh, progress. :rotfl2:

Hey, I graduated with a BS in computer science. I'm allowed to gripe at "new & improved" methods when you are asking the human to do the computers job. lol

I understand your frustrations with the current Search. But really this "specify tags" thing is hardly any tougher, and is probably actually easier, than coming up with a thread title. It just doesn't seem like a difficult thing to do. And in fact, it would be a helpful tool to have added even if we still had the old "Search" system.

I don't think its difficult. I think its a band-aid personally. We can't get the search to search thread title sentences....so.... we'll get the humans to narrow it down to just 1 or 2 words so the computer can handle it. :rotfl: Want to make a bet it won't find Port Orleans if its spelled wrong?

Actually Splshmtn99 you are missing the point totally.

The point of the tag system is that people can target the meaning of their thread providing much more meaningful results, far better than the old search system or pretty much any search system. It's not an "add on" for the present search I would try it even if the old search was in place. They really are 2 seperate issues
