Hi everyone,

I apologize in advance if these questions are already answered somewhere on this board. My family is taking our first trip to Disney in a few weeks and we are on the free dining regular Dining plan (the one that comes with 1 QS, 1 TS, and 1 snack per day).

Will a table service restaurant allow me to order something from the appetizers section of their menu as my meal, as part of the dining plan?

Does the receipt that you get to take away with you have the prices of the food that you ordered? I would like to be able to figure out at home after our trip whether the dining plan was "worth it." I want to know if I'm going to have to write down the price of everything we order or if it will be on the receipt that I get to take with me.

Thank you so much for your help!

Generally they will bot let you order an appetizer as an entree, the may be some exceptions but I wouldn't plan on it.

Yes, your receipt will show the charges of what your meal costs even though you "paid " with the dining lan.

The third party restaurants will not let you order an appetizer instead of an entree because they are reimbursed by Disney according to the rules of the dining plan so the entree must come from the entree section of the menu. The Disney owned restaurants have more leeway, but even here I wouldn't count on it. If you only want an appetizer rather than an entree you could pay for the app OOP and save the dining credit for additional meals or for a 2 credit meal.

As PP said, if you want to order an appetizer instead of entree, you might as well not use a DP credit for that meal.

When looking at your receipts at home and comparing if the DP was worth it compared to OOP, remember that the 6.5% tax on each meal and snack using DP credits is paid for by the Plan, as opposed to OOP, where you would pay the tax.
