Are there any advantages to spliting your points over 2 contracts at different resorts??

RDP I would say that the short answer was No,although in theory you would have 2 "home" resorts ,to book at the 11 month window, you can only use the points for that resort for that window - eg You own 100 at SSR + 100 at AKV,you have worked out that your holiday will cost 200 & you want to stay at AKV,you will need to wait till the 7 month window to use your SSR points.Hope that makes sense! Looking at the US DVC board there does seem to be a lot of DVC'rs that buy multiple contracts but I would guess that this is because they take shorter holidays than the UK therefore don't require as many points.

The advantage of 2 contracts at different resorts as shoobydoo says, would give you two lots of 11month booking windows as two different home resorts. The 11month booking window becomes more important when you wish to book your stay in high season

You could manage this by banking and borrowing to maximise points at each resort in alternate years.

We own where we want to stay (see signature) and like to book everything at 10-11 months out. We've never had any difficulty using up odd points at 7 months but could always bank if we did.

We are the sort who never go to places and stay for 2 weeks in one place; never have done even when our son was young.

Having contracts in different places suits some people. It will largely depend upon your own holiday preferences and willingness to 'manage' points a little more carefully.
