I read all of the other packing lists and books with suggested lists and planners with lists but We are taking three carryons with us thats all. I have made tshirts for each day thats 20 tshirts for 5 days for all of us plus 2 tshirts each extra so 30 tshirts!!!! Then 2 jeans and 1 capri for me. 1 jeans and 2 shorts for DH. 4 Shorts for my DS5 and 2 shorts for DS6m. He will mostly be wearing rompers!! Plus ech of use have their bathing suits.

All baby supplies will be delivered to the hotel. So with this add in toiletries in travel packs. Clipon fans, medicines, some books and games.

Now all this is fitting in the 3 carryons. Am I missing something. Why does everyone else doing carryons and checkins?? I still have place and baggage limit left in carryons? What am I doing wrong?

I WISH I could pack like you!!! I always take too much stuff, end up bringing most of it back unworn. I have 2 dd's so packing for them is always a production.

Our motto has always been "If we forget something, we'll just buy it when we get there!!!"

Good luck and have fun!!

not doing anything wrong. im just not sending stuff to my hotel and am packing it with me. i have a whole suitcase that is basically baby supplies (small pack of diapers/wipes/swim dipes and pullups for 3yo night time at the hotel), fans, toiletries, a swim vest for 3 yo, ponchos, 1 beach towel. sure it may be over packing of a few things but for us weve found it just makes our trips easier so we bring certain stuff.

we plan on doing wash so i think i have about 5 outfits for myself for 8 days.
the kids i think have about 7/8 outfits each. but knowing my boys i may be needing to put different outfit on for am then pm (getting dirty, wet, etc).

i think we are going to have 3 suitcases (with a booster seat packed in one of them) and a carseat. gate checking 2 strollers. and we each have a small carry on for plane activities (well, mine is the diaper bag).

my parents will have 1 suitcase and a carryon bag for themselves.

i think you are packing fine for you. i would just need more bottoms. we leave tomorrow and i know i sweat and feel gross and i wouldnt be able to get more than a day out of my clothes including shorts.

I envy your ability to travel so lightly. Even if I were able to cram everything into a carryon...we bring so much home in souvenirs that I'd wind up having to buy a bag for the trip home. Sounds like you have your bases covered though. :thumbsup2

I also wish I could pack that lightly!!!! Wow :worship:

Can I suggest that you NOT bring jeans (unless there is a reason you don't wear shorts?). They will be useless in August Florida heat.

i too thought, 2 pairs of jeans for 90 degree weather? why? it might drop to mid 70's at night. im all for wearing jeans more than once before washing but in that hot of weather i cant see how they wont be smelly or sticky after even just 1 day.

the other "excess" thing i have is 2 pairs of shoes for each person with 1 extra pair being packed.

Sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, light sweater for each person for air conditioned restaurants, an extra pair of shoes in the event your first pair gets drenched on a ride or during a rain storm, ponchos... I guess I should bail out here 'cause I'm a proponent of bringing everything except the kitchen sink! :rotfl2:

I also only bring carry-ons. I was wondering, do you do laundry while you are there? I always do, so don't bring that much.

I agree with the jeans - it is quite hot and humid in Orlando in August (we're going to be there also in a week). I won't be bringing any jeans. Even in the evening, it is really too warm for jeans I think.

I think it sounds like you have enough. Most people probably bring too much. you don't need a lot - definitely a stroller! Either a double or two singles - my kids used them until just a couple of years ago (at Disney, not at home).

I'd bring two swimsuits each - that way one can be drying if you need another one. We do like 2 swimsuits each.

Nice thing is that kids' clothes are small!

Have fun!

i dont really make time to do laundry while there, so that wouldnt cut it for us. and in that weather theres no way you can wear something twice.

how much cheaper is it to send a package than to just pay the fee for a checked? does your airline not allow you even one checked peice? i fly southwest so it isnt really an issue with cost.

we also all bring at least 2 pairs of shoes a peice, i am a firm believer that happy feet make for a happy trip. that kind of walking requires a change of shoe. there are also other things that we havde to bring like cell phone and camera chargers, ponchos, cameras, toilettrees and shower things.

What about undies, socks, shoes, pj's, bathing suits & coverups? Sweaters (A/C in some restaurants is downright chilly)? Meds? Camera? Baby toys, blankets, etc?

Also, I wouldn't bring jeans for Aug in FL - it's way too hot and humid for them. Unless you're planning to do laundry, I'd pack more shorts for everyone.

Just curious, why aren't you checking any bags?

Well I would probably bring a little more. I am a little surprised with 3 pairs of pants for 5 days. Based on your ticker it is going to be really, really hot while you are there. We are all human, you probably will be sweaty and you really may not want to wear those again. Also, what if you get wet on water rides, won't you want to change? Plus you really may want a pair of shorts. Last year after having my 3rd child I felt so uncomfortable in them (I was big) but when it was really really humid hot I put on shorts. What if the kids spill food on two pairs of their shorts? My kids can go through 2 outfits in one day between spilling ketchup at lunch and icecream on their shirt etc. If you are planning to do wash every few days I guess it will be fine. I would really bring more bottoms, a second swimsuit (when it is humid it takes a long time to dry out), a second pair of shoes (flip flops for the pool?). How about hats for the little ones? I actually prefer to have a few more choices and not wear things than to have everything dirty, smelly or wet and have to do wash on vacation but that is just me.

She should be able to rinse out a pair of shorts in the sink and hang them to dry if necessary.

...i too thought, 2 pairs of jeans for 90 degree weather? why? it might drop to mid 70's at night...

I'm always cold, so to me 70's at night is chilly and I would want jeans. I also wear them for travel since airports and planes tend to be cold to me, no matter what the outside temps are.

We pack like the OP, but we usually take some time at night to do laundry in a DVC villa or if we're not staying in a villa, we take some time during the day to do it when we're hanging out by the pool.

I guess it also depends where you are staying. If you have access to a washer and dryer and plan on washing clothes, you can easily get away with what you have.
I went in september last year and with the heat, I went through 2 outfits a day but I did have a washer and dryer to clean clothes, so I packed very light.
I think it is smart to send the baby stuff down. I wish I had thought of that last year.

Ok for those who mentioned about the jeans. I have a big scar on my leg so I dont wear shorts at all. I agree about getting more bottom wear but even if I add 5 bottom wear for each of use i am still fitting in 3 carryons. For those who asked about me not checking in I have not ruled it out. I am just thinking if everything fits in then no sense in checking a near empty bag in. Thats the reason for my original question. I see all the lists and am thinking if we really need everything on it thats all. Remind of other things so I dont forget.

Did you pack things for your 5 year old to do on the plane? What about extra shoes? I know that you said that you sent some stuff but what about extra toothbrushes, toothpaste and that kind of stuff just in case.

I must overpack because my dh I each took a big suitcase and we took three smaller suitcases. One for each dd and one with snacks. Plus dh needed the golf clubs. We each had a carry one with medication, things to do on the plane, my dd blanket, camera and other things we didn't want to pack.

Good luck and have a good trip.

Since you are asking, I would really pack more shorts and pants. We are leaving in nine days and I have enough pants for everyone to wear a new pair daily, and enough shirts for everyone to wear 1.5 each day. :rotfl: I packed 10 shirts for each of us for the trip. Using the ziplock method (pack each outfit, undies, socks, bra (if needed) shorts, tee <squeeze out air>) I was able to get ALLL the clothes for me and three kids in one 21 inch carryon bag. Each kid & me has 7 fully stocked bags of clothes, and a bag of extras (jammies, extra shirts, extra undies, etc) Well, the younger girls I packed them 8 ready to go bags. That's 33 ziplock bags! I have I weighed the suitcase, out of curiosity, and it weighs 48 lbs fully packed. Luckily, we are driving, so I don't have to worry about it being verry, verrrry close to the 50 lb weight limit!

Then I will have a smaller duffle bag with the extra toiletry type stuff, and a Jansport backpack with the park stuff ready to go. I will pack everyone an extra pair of shoes, as well.

I second the idea that you may want to bring extra shirts and shorts for everyone - we went last August and sometimes went through 2-3 outfits a day because it was just so hot and sweaty. Not a necessity, but it's nice to change into clean clothes in the afternoon after a nap or pool break :)

I see all the lists and am thinking if we really need everything on it thats all. Remind of other things so I dont forget.

Here's the things I am packing in my small duffle that I think we will NEED:
resort info, brushes, hair ties, BBB knockoff hairspray and tiarras, socks, extra shoes for everyone, toothbrushes/toothpaste, shampoo/conditioner (not sure if you can do this with flying, though- I don't like the resort stuff!) , sunscreen, dd's miralax, pepto bismol, ibuprofen (adult and child variety), cell phone and nintendo ds charger, cameras w/extra batteries, deodorant, vitamins, babywipes
