2/9/2013 - Fantasy Mardi Gras Cruise *****

Hi. Our family really enjoys pin trading and we were wondering what kind of pin trading opportunities we can expect onboard the fantasy. Will there also be a pin trading meet & greet onboard and what about vinylmation trading. Are there any opportunities for that as well?

Hi all does anyone have the December newsletter for mouse savers I missed the 15th cut off and they take 12 days to deliver to uk so I don't want to risk it and wait for January newsletter. Thanks
Email Laura.

Hey there! They do pin trading as well on the ships! Usually the folks in the shops wear lanyards. Also there is an officer pin trading night that lasts about an hour in the evening and each officer has a lanyard to trade! Plus its a good time to trade with other folks as well! On our last cruise they had about 12 officers out there. Tons of fun!

Hi everyone! Two pieces of news this evening.

First - Fish Extender Exchange!

I've set up the Roll Call with two FE groups to start - Mickey and Minnie. Each of those lists has 13 staterooms on it, and will not get larger. They are loosely grouped by deck; we were able to have an even split at stateroom number 8000, which will limit the stair-climbing required. (But we still have the ship covered bow to stern!)

To see your list, just visit the Roll Call list or issue a Full Roll Call request using the Data Request Form. There's a new column showing which list you're on. (I'm working on adding a FE List report as well.) Also, and this is important, please confirm your stateroom number, especially GTY folks.

o Registration Form http://goo.gl/guLD0
o Data Request Form http://goo.gl/AF9u8

It's not too late to join in - I'll just keep creating more groups to accommodate folks. Newcomers, please look at post #1 in this thread for info about joining the Roll Call & FE Exchange.

Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions and critiques about list creation!

Second - Meet & Greet!

Robin & I have been chatting about this, and would love to hear from others. We're thinking that a traditional, informal M&G would be a great way for us all to put some faces & names together. Here's the proposal:

Day: Day 1, Embarkation Day
Time: 3:00 PM
Location: D-Lounge, Deck 4, Midship

There are no services available at that time, but the space has been open and used for Disboard M&G activities on previous cruises. Everyone's invited!

Boat Drill is at 3:45, followed by Sail-Away Party. What do you think, is 45 minutes enough time, or should we start earlier?

(Would anyone like to volunteer to formalize this event a bit more?)

Time to sign off...
David (DH of Mog's Mom)
Hi David! We got our Room Assignment...our GTY is now 7190. I think I sent a request via registration but its just an update. How do we do the roll call? Is there a way to just print out our list of participants in the fish extender? Thanks! Darren

We also love to pin trade! We have lots of fun at the Officers Pin Trading and find the cast members in the shops quite helpful. DD did a bit of vinyalmation trading last year on board, but only at the shops.

No problem Darren - I got the update and you're all set!

For Darren and everyone else on the Roll Call - using the request form, can have three types of reports sent to you:
  • Just your own personal data, to know what is currently in there (every stateroom that shares your Disboard ID).
  • The full roll call, including everyone who has joined (sorted by Disboard ID, with all their contact info, plus FE Lists and a mailing list), or...
  • Your personal Fish Extender Exchange list (all staterooms on your list, sorted by stateroom #, with names, ages, and allergies / restrictions).

And to everyone else... If you aren't yet on the Roll Call, but would like to be, please feel free to join by using the registration form! That works for joining in on the FE Exchange, too.

Happy New Year!

Just booked this cruise when we found out kids go free! This will be my family's 2nd cruise. We took the Wonder to Alaska in 2010 and are booked for our 3rd cruise at the end of April. We are excited to be able to drive to the port instead of flying. My wife is thrilled to make me her pack mule for everything instead of being limited to airplane baggage. I hope everyone is as excited as we are. We couldn't really use the pools on the Alaska cruise so we are ready to "just keep swimming!"

Welcome Aboard:
AFKlingon
Anniepoppins &
President M.....

We are glad you are cruising with us.....

DD Bethany is VERY excited about the cruise....it was her last present to open on Christmas....now Mommy (me) has to get crackin' on the FE gifts.....

If anyone wants the kids to "write" back and forth or Facebook....just let me know....Bethany could use friends ahead of time.

See you sooner than you know.....

I just requested both the "roll call list" And my "fe list". They don't match.............
There are people listed on the RC list that aren't on the fe list. And people on the fe list that aren't on the RC list at all. I'm just going to give to anyone that has Pluto beside their name on a combination of both lists. I just wanted to say something just incase this happened to anyone else and it went unnoticed. It would be tragic if anyone got left out.

If you have any problems with the Roll Call or FE Lists, I'd appreciate an email directly - that way I can investigate and fix any problems quickly, whether they are bugs or user problems.

In this case, it turns out that there's no bug. Your requests were actually several days apart, and it was a busy time for the Roll Call list! In that time we had 4 new members, assigned some staterooms that had decided to join the FE Exchange, re-jigged room assignments, and I did a clean-up after three parties cancelled their cruises and one dropped out the FE Exchange.

Unfortunately, that has meant some churn on the first two "closed" lists, Mickey and Minnie, as members left them and have now been replaced. The third list, Pluto, which you're on, isn't fully subscribed yet.

So EVERYONE on the FE Lists should get a current copy.

As long as we have no more drop-outs, Mickey and Minnie will stay as-is. Pluto will keep accepting new members to a max of 13 staterooms - so members on all lists can plan on treating a max of 12 other staterooms.

See you very soon!

Our cruise is already next month! Our children (boy: 3, girls: 5, 8, 10) are so excited! There's a bunch of us traveling from Hawaii so we'll be giving out some "Hawaii" items as our fish extender gifts!

We are also planning to visit the Disney World parks for 2 or 3 days after the cruise. Does anyone know if DCL sells discounted Disney World tickets on board the ship? Paying for a family of six so any discount I can get would be really helpful.

FE Question:

Do you guys generally put your names on things that you drop off? IE, so the people will know who it is from?

Jen

Many thanks to David for all of his work on the fluid FE lists. We appreciate your generosity in making time to do this and for sharing your organizational talents with all of us!

First, for the thank-you messages - you're welcome!

Does anyone know if DCL sells discounted Disney World tickets on board the ship?

Unfortunately, they don't. You might find discounts through other outlets, such as Undercover Tourist. See MouseSavers. Generally, the discounts aren't significant until you're getting 3 or more days.

This year, we have the kids enrolled in half-day educational programs through Disney's Youth Programmes, and that has allowed us access to the best discounts we've seen. (We're doing 5 days for the price of 3 days.) Probably too late to sign up for that now, but something to note for next time. It comes with the added bonus of telling your kids they're going to school while on vacation! :lmao:

We have done so in past, but not everyone does. (Remember - no rules!)

David (DH of blah-blah-blah...)

Sorry David, feeling a little silly. I didn't think about that.
