2/9/2013 - Fantasy Mardi Gras Cruise *****

I will not be able to participate with the FE due to some unforeseen time away from home. (Leaving to be with father during health issues.)

I also changed jobs, for the better, but a lot more hours.

Sorry to let you know so late, but this all happened so quickly and left me wondering when I will even have time to pack!

I hope all goes well with your father.

Congrats on your new position. I hope it is all you hope it is....

PACKING in less than 60 day.... WOO HOOO :cool1: :cheer2: :wave2:

We are no longer going on this cruise. If we could be removed from the FE list also that would be greatly appreciated. Our traveling companions jotabs will not be going also.

Sad to see you both go. I've removed you from the roll call and FE list as requested.

I will not be able to participate with the FE due to some unforeseen time away from home...

And I've updated your info on the Roll Call as well. I hope you'll still come along to the Meet & Greet!

So we just decided to book a cruise last week and decided on Disney. Holy cow after finding this site I think we made the right decision. The fe look especially cool! Me,my husband ansd DD(6) are really looking forward to it!

Thanks after having a disastrous Disney vacation in April my "mommy guilt" went into overdrive and i think this will fix it. We have no idea what to expect, what types of things can I plan ahead of time to make it a wonderful trip. I've already booked the BB boutique anything else that we need to do ahead of time? I'm normally a wing it type of person but I think this may need a bit of pre planing.

Welcome! In my opinion, a WDW vacation requires much more planning than a cruise. If you want to eat at Remy or Palo, you will want to make a ressie there soon. Excursions can be booked now but most don't sell out so don't feel you need to do that right away. If you are considering a spa treatment I would try to book that in advance as well - especially on the sea days it will fill up. That's all I can think of that needs to be booked in advance. I'm sure someone else will chime in if I forgot something.

I like cruising because you can 'wing it' more. Every night you will get a list of the next days activities. Bring a highlighter, highlight what is most important to do - but don't overplan ahead of time.
DO see ALL the shows. Even if you think 'hmmm not sure if thats a good one' - you will be surprised- I remember thinking one of the comedy acts was going to be dumb, and we loved it! Don't miss the evening shows - I hear so many people who go on DCL and never step foot inside the theater, and these shows are one of the reasons we choose DCL over other lines.
Definately spend some time by the pool in a lounger just to relax. Don't try to do everything, you won't be able to! There is always a next time!

Try to eat in the main dining room every night if you can - its a different experience every night and not just 'going to dinner'.

See you in about 57 days!!

Are you a mom traveling alone with kids? Or family?
I am a single mom with 16 yr old daughter.

This is our 3rd cruise and DS is now 6. On our first cruise DS was 4 and as we didn't have any idea what to expect, we didn't prebook anything, and we had a great time. We went to the shows in the evening after dinner, DS loved these, though he did fall asleep 3 minutes into 1 of them and stayed that way all through the show and as we carried him back to the room and put him to bed. We booked one short excursion whilst onboard, but other than that just went ashore at each port for a walk round etc.
He went to the kids club a bit and enjoyed finding friends to play with in the pools. Mainly we just found it really relaxing and it was great to just be able to have fun together as a family.

On our second cruise we booked a couple of excursions, but again on board we just did what we felt like at the time. There seems no point in over planning, for us the cruise is for fun family time and relaxing.

I have to completely agree. I'm an over planner for WDW, but found that it really didn't help me much on the cruises. Decide on your excursions and any "extras" that you are interested in. (Like Palo, etc). But beyond that don't stress yourself studying the online Navagators for exactly what you want to do when. My best cruises have all been "go with the flow" And all of my cruises have been my best cruises!

WE HAVE A ROOM!:cheer2:
