2/13/2005 Wonder

Hi Ellen,

We were on the Wonder last Feb. We did the Sunshine Glass Bottom Boat tour. It was OK, a bit crowded and it was hard for the little ones to see the fish through the glass.

I had thought about the Atlantis as well. We were thinking about getting a room at the Comfort Suites across the street for the day (full access to the Atlantis). It costs around $200, but that is close to the price for the DCL excursion without access.

Good Morning Rick,

How was the weather last year? I had a friend who cruised in Jan two years ago and wasn't able to swim at Castaway Cay. She said it was breezy and cool.

What is Atlantis? The ad we saw in the NY TIMES showed a woman and a boy in a tube surrounded by sharks. It looked like a tube through a tank. DH thought ds might enjoy that because we did the dolphin swin in St. Maarten.

Ellen

Ellen,
We had mixed weather last Feb. It was cool and overcast when we left PC. When we got to Nassau, we had wonderful weather (warm and sunny - swimming in the pools on the ship was fine). We missed CC due to high winds, but it was still nice with a sea day. I'm hoping for better weather this trip.

The Atlantis is a mega-reasort on Paradise Island. They have a huge waterpark that includes a water slide that goes through the shark tank (fully enclosed). The tours available through DCL do not give you access to the water park (only the beach area). If you rent a room at the Comfort Suites across the street, you get full access to the Atlantis facilities. The big catch is that each room only holds four people and it's a bit pricy (around $200).

Rick

I just booked us a room at the Comfort Suites for the day in Nassau. The price is just about $50 more than the excursion from DCL and we get full use of the Atlantis facilities (plus a room to change clothes).

We got our first "real" snowfall this morning. I can't wait for February now . . .

Rick

Well fellow Michigan DISers and Ohio we are in our first big snow storm of the season.
Can't wait for our cruise to happen. Just 60 short days!!!!

How much snow has everyone got? Cleveland Ohio has 5 inches and they are telling us to expect an inch an hour over night. :earseek:

:earboy2:

We picked them up from Home Depot this past weekend (got a few other colors too - they are particularly cute). All 4 of us will be wearing our green mickeys at Scoops at 3pm!

less than 2 months now! :boat:

We'll be looking for you Louis. We'll be the sun starved northerns with the lime green mickeys at Scoops.

Sounds like we have lucked out so far on the weather. Poconos have only gotten a dusting of snow so far. I may live to regret putting that in writing. TEE HEE

my wife and i will also be on the 2/13 cruise. Also my DD and her family will be coming down from upstate ny. We just got back from 12/9 cruise with my other DD and her family. Hope weather will be better, rainny and windy on CC day. Meeting by scoops sounds good. as last cruise i did not meet any of the other DISers on the ship. We have two inside cabins on deck two. I am retired and spend winters in Florida and summers in NY. I am a seasonal worker on main street in the bakery and ice crem palor. :charac2:

Welcome Jon,

Glad you guys are joining us. Hopefully, the weather will be better on this cruise. We are so looking forward to CC!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

Where upstate NY are you guys from? My inlaws are in Rockland County and my SIL is in Utica area? Did you see the Dis Meet info for Allentown, PA in July?

Pocono

PS Any grandkids coming on this trip? Do you know Mike from Ohio at Blizzard Beach? My son met him onboard our first trip. He's a huge pin trader and a really nice guy. :flower:

Well, no snow in Detroit (or Peoria, IL). Down here for a last minute business trip before the holiday break. I can't believe we are now less than 60 days out. We suprised the kids with the cruise as their Hanukkah present. My DS-7 has announced he is going to win all the trophies possible on this cruise. They are counting down the days on the calendar.

Rick

DD lives in Potsdam, NY and my DGD is 9 years old. They will both be on the cruise.
I havent had a chance to get over to Blizzard Beach yet.
As for CC my DDs hoping for a beach day. So it will be nice if its warm and sunny :cool1:

Hey Jon,

My dd is 10. We have to make sure that they get a chance to meet each other. My dd is still in touch with a girl she met on our last cruise. Don't forget to get your lime green Mickeys.

Just watched the Disney Cruise program from the Travel Channel (recorded last year). Sigh, I could sure go for a Bahama Mama right about now!

Rick

Anyone going with a 5 yr old? Our DS7 makes friends quite easily, but our DS5 is a bit shy.

Rick. Your 5 year old boy is smack in the middle of my 2 boys. I have a 3.5 year old and amy oldest will be 6 yrs 10 months when we go. They are quite outgoing, energetic and love playing with other kids...I'm sure they'll have a great time with your sons.

Looking forward to it.

Louis

Great, thanks for the info Louis. I'm hoping the boys hit is off and have lots of fun playing together . . .

Rick

Was in Home Depot Sunday I was looking for the Green Mickeys but did not see any. What department are they in or what are they next to.
John :moped:

Hi Jon,

Go to the paint dept. in Home Depot. Our local Home Depot carries the Disney line of paints. They should have the paint chips right next to the Glidden, Baer and Ralph Lauren paint chips. If you can't find them, send me a private message with your address and I'll send some to you. :flower1:
