1st week of February mostly booked ?

We are considering the first week of Feb or March . I really wanted Feb to try the Festival of the Arts . It’s a lower price season and lower on the crowd calendar but had barely any availablity . Even Shades of Green is booked that week ( but still has all of Christmas/ New Years available??) Am I missing something ?

High school national cheer competition at Wide World of Sports beginning of February. Value resorts will be full of cheer teams and cheerleaders practicing on the football field at All Star Sports.

They don't affect crowds too much, most coaches only let them go to the parks for a few hours one or two days, they are mostly there to compete. They do travel in packs though (as most teens do) and that can make it seem worse than it really is sometimes! I certainly would not cancel because of them, it's usually still a low crowd time of year!

I really wouldn't pay too much attention to what the crowd calendars say. Trends have definitely been changing, and disney does a good job of releasing discounts to balance out the crowds. Winter does seem to be picking up in popularity, but I wouldn't expect it to be crazy. A cheer competition would definitely explain the limited availability. I went last year during Pop Warner and it really wasn't as bad as I expected. The only time that the cheerleaders were overwhelming was when I stopped at All Star Sports to eat and then catch an Uber instead of riding the Magical Express all the way to All Star Movies. As long as you aren't staying at one of the resorts they're in I don't think you'll notice much.

We’ve been going to WDW the first week of Feb for the last 3 years. We’re going back next feb. the crowd is definitely manageable. We actually like it because the weather is usually nice

It pretty much won't. WDW resort occupancy has very little affect on park crowd levels. And with the cheer groups, they are kept busy with other things.

Keep trying for a hotel at random times though. My friend and I are going Feb. 6-9 for a quick long weekend budget trip. We couldn't find a hotel for weeks and had finally decided to spend a little extra and stay at the Dolphin. I tried the Disney site one last time just for giggles and ended up with a room at AOA. As soon as I booked, the availability was gone again but it did pop up for a brief second and I was able to grab it. Never give up. People cancel all the time.
