***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

Hey guys.. Asking for your opinion..
I passed on the canceled H&V yesterday for 545 for 4. It was the day I hoped for :( BUT... The main reason for wanting the dinner was to get into fantasmic. The holiday dine is a major plus!!! But, it was for 4 and I need 6 really.. ( could do 4 if we had to) ..also, without the package I thought 545 was a bit late to get in line for fantasmic.
What do you think? Was I wrong to really plan this hs evening for fantasmic? What's " better" and should really be a bigger priority ? H&V holiday dine or fantasmic?
Personally, I think if you can't get the F! Package, you can always get a FP+ for Fantasmic. That's what I plan to do if I don't get my H&V F! Dinner switch to the night I want. I haven't been to the Holiday Dine, but judging by the lack of available ADR's, it must be popular. H&V has gotten negative reviews in the past, but more recent reviews are positive, so I'm hopeful. For me, it's about seeing the characters in the holiday outfits.

@TiggerManiac My DD is just starting her senior year. Her first choice for undergraduate is Cornell. She has an SAT of 1450 and ACT33 ... she lots picked 10 schools .
I would love to chat about any tips!

@BDFmom The 33 ACT coupled with at least a 3.5 GPA guarantees her full tuition at UA, no much it increases year to year. All she has to do is apply to UA to get that scholarship. She might qualify for other scholarships that include at least a year of housing. Here's their scholarship page: http://scholarships.ua.edu/types/

My daughter refused to go anywhere but UA because she wanted to be in the Million Dollar Band her freshman year. UA was a fabulous experience for her. She graduated with a biology major, double minors in psychology and music (flute performance), and Phi Beta Kappa. She was accepted to 4 of the top graduate schools in genetics (UNC Chapel Hill is rated #3 on one big site).

The best advice I can give is that wherever she chooses to go, she get involved in a research lab as quickly as possible. US has a great program called Emerging Scholars that is open to freshmen and sophomores: http://emergingscholars.ua.edu/future-scholars/frequently-asked-questions/

I don't know where y'all are from, but definitely consider UA. Wonderful programs; beautiful location.

Wow! You guys all have such interesting and amazing jobs! I'm probably the most boring one here! Lol DH and I work for a bank. I work on the operations end and DH works more on the reporting end. :) oh and just to add, my name is Candice :D
Lol I worked for two banks between 2006-2014 and then switched careers because I really hated it there. I was in product management and sales training

WDWMagic just gave me a heart attack. Saw a tweet about Haunted Mansion refurbishment beginning end of November, and I was sitting here going, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" That's roomie's favorite ride, and definitely in my Top 3!

But, the refurbishment is only from Nov 28 - Dec 1, reopening on Dec 2. Crisis averted. We don't arrive until the 4th, and don't even get to MK until the 6th.

Oh, the 6th will be my first day at MK too! Nice!

My sister-in-law is a surgical pathologist who did her Fellowship at UNC Chapel Hill. We went to visit her and my BIL, and the campus is GORGEOUS. We absolutely loved downtown Chapel Hill as well; so many amazing restaurants. My SIL's family is from Cyprus, and her parents took us to this place called Kipos. It was the best authentic Greek food I've ever had. If you get a chance and you're visiting, you should check it out. The college makes me regret not looking outside of New England when I was looking at schools.

I started my career in banking. It sucked. Now I'm in the healthcare industry. (Which also sucks, but hey, gotta pay the bills somehow!)

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
I'm glad I'm hidden in a cubicle where no one can see me laughing! :rotfl:

Luckily I work at home as a workforce business analyst. It's just me and the dogs, and they just stare at me when i start the hysterical laughter!! :rotfl2:

OMG...I would be SOOOO upset if it was closed while we're there. HM is one of my favorite rides that I could ride over and over again!!! Our MK day is 12/4....they better have it back up and running by then!!

@TiggerManiac My niece attended UA last year, really enjoyed it and did well, but ultimately decided to go back to NJ. I have a good friend who is in Alumni Relations there and it is a great environment. Maybe my future child will want to attend--Roll Tide!

As for the thought of Haunted Mansion not being open, that would be very sad--it's iconic!

LOL, I work in corporate loans and actually like the work (like numbers :scared1:) but starting to hate the culture. :headache: But as @areno79 says, need to pay for bills and this Disney trip! :rotfl:

@areno79 I love Greek food! I'll make a note of Kipos for next time we visit DD. My sister got her PhD in journalism from Chapel Hill. We spent several high school summers with our aunt and uncle when they lived in Durham. DD has been in school for two weeks and loves it so far, especially the lab she picked for first rotation.

I'm sure something will open up @rasadkowski ! Especially when they announce SW fireworks dates! Which date are you looking for again? I'll keep my eyes peeled as well!

Awwww....THANKS!! :) Actually, we're all set! I just wanted IN THE BUILDING at H&V and we have a regular Holiday Dine on 12/7. The goal is to see those characters decked out in their holiday attire! We have the F! package with a Mama Melrose lunch and after reading up on it, I'm pretty excited about trying MM. So it all worked out, in a very, V-E-R-Y round-about way! lol I'm still looking for H&V though for everyone who is on the spreadsheet for it! ;)

My daughter got a 35 on her ACT but she hasn't cured cancer yet so I don't know where she can get in. Seriously though, the academics are covered but sometimes it's so hard to get them into the right extra-curricular activities so they have a chance to stand out on their applications. She's a junior this year (homeschool) and still doesn't know where she wants to go to school or what she wants to major in (cellular biology is up there, but so are other options like Spanish or math). First we have to get through the PSAT though and see where she scores. I don't think she's interested in the top-tier schools, so that should help her chances.

Oh yay!! We're doing Sci-Fi for lunch on our HS day, which currently is set as 12/6. I wish they did F! With Sci-Fi!

Right now we have a 6:20 ADR at H&V we'll probably cancel because there's no way we'll make F! in time, even with a FP+. I also have an Ohana dinner at 4:05 and at 8:20 pm that day, so trying to figure out what makes sense. (Opinions welcome!)
We can either leave HS around 3:30 for Poly, eat at Ohana at 4:05 and then come back for F! with FP+, or we can stay at HS, do F!, and then get the bus to Poly for the 8:20 Ohana ADR, then catch the AoA bus from MK back to our room. I'm leaning towards option 2. Thoughts??

(My preference would be to get an H&V F! Dinner for 12/6 and go to Ohana instead on 12/8 for dinner, but no availability has come up yet.)

I would love to be an academic recruiter for UA! Roll Tide Roll!
