***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

@pigletgirl OMG, have you been talking to my DH?!?!? He has this idea that he'll decorate and put up the tree the weekend before Thanksgiving, which I think is no bueno! It just seems weird to have turkey while the tree is up. (Although truthfully I know people who do it.) My problem is I just can't have my decor mixed because I'm OCD like that! :rotfl2:
If he had his way, as soon as he took down the Halloween decorations outside, he'd put up Christmas. For this year I told him I'd concede a little bit and he could put up the outdoor Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving, but he can't turn them on until after Thanksgiving!
I do inside for Christmas right after Halloween :) and my husband does outside lights the day after thanksgiving

I love Robo's maps! So clear and easy to understand!

Since our trips are so close to thanksgiving (those in the US), is your trip impacting your turkey day plans? What about the following weekend?

We don't live near family. We originally moved here (St Louis, MO) when I was starting school, and we've stayed due to the fact that DH loves his employer and position. So, for the past 2 years, we've had a "friendsgiving" with those who don't have family nearby. I'm hosting again this year, and it'll be about 30 people. Then the Saturday following thanksgiving, we have a local wedding to attend that DD1 is a flower girl in. The following day I have a baby shower to attend and then we leave Tuesday afternoon! I really have only 1 day to pack! Crazy!

Friends and celebrations are such blessings, but that's a lot of blessings very close together! :) Very nice that you have such an awesome vacation after all of that. :earsboy: We don't leave until the wee hours of 12/2, so our annual game plan of putting up Christmas decorations starting the day after Thanksgiving is still on for this year. :santa:

We have had ours for a couple months. Jeblue, they were $300 each round trip from Logan. We are there Weds to Sun. Going down is direct flight, leaves at 7pm, but DH is a teacher and can only take off 2 days so we had to go after school Weds. Coming home we have a 1 hour layover, but I'm ok with it. From Boston to Florida 300 isn't too bad. When I've gone over spring break it is always way more than that BOS to MCO.

That's a great price on Jetblue out of BOS!! We went back and forth trying to decide if we were going to fly out of BOS (which is an hour away, but has cheaper and more convenient flight times) or MHT (which is down the street from my house, but has higher flight prices.) We ended up choosing SW out of MHT, just because we're leaving right after work and it's so much more convenient than worrying about traffic in BOS.

after recently sitting in heinous traffic around logan I think you made the right choice

Is everyone settled on flights now? We have ours booked but I keep checking the flight down on SW to see if there's any chance I can move us to a morning one so we aren't getting to Disney SOOOO late. At this point though, I think we're probably stuck with what we have. Thanksgiving weekend is not a great time to fly, huh? lol

We've been booked for a little while now. A little pricier than I was hoping, but they are ideal-for-us flights. I have been tempted to look but I refuse to peek...same deal as @Candycane83 in that I don't want to be disappointed if they've gone down. We're locked in, so I'm figuring ignorance is bliss in this case! ;)

I'm in the same boat! Booked out tickets very early on. I really didn't research at all. I'm sure we paid quite a bit ( lot) more than we should have, too. But, I have a major fear of flying :( it's horrible. I haven't flown in 10 years! And I used to fly all over the world! Not sure when or why it developed :( so I stayed away from doing any researching about the flights. I looked on JetBlue.com, picked seats and had my husband book everything. I don't peek for same reason as talby! I wanted to drive, but my kids are so excited to take a plane! A glass of wine for a 6am flight might help for the anxiety... ... Or a few. The last thing I need is to arrive at chef mickeys that night intoxicated!!

I added this link to the first page. I need to update it but figured I would add it so people can find it easily.

Oh that's great and will be so handy!! I've seen those maps here and there, but it was so nice for Robo to put them all together like that for everyone!

I'm so jealous of everybody's flight plans. I got online yesterday just to see how flights were looking, and it is just so much cheaper for us to drive. Roomie has an extremely efficient vehicle, so we can round trip from northeast Mississippi and back for like $100 in gas. Makes me sad though, because I love to fly! And the 10 hour drive is BORING!

But I keep trying to look at the bright sides:
1) Saving the moolah!
2) Can take as many snacks and drinks with us as we want!
3) Can bring home as many souvenirs as we want!
4) Won't have to worry about getting to Universal without a vehicle. (I have only had literally one taxi experience in my life. I feel like an old geezer, but I feel like, "I don't trust it.")

I actually love to fly too... More because it's faster and I hate wasting time. :P That's a great way to look at all the positives though! :)

Word! Logan (and Boston traffic in general sucks!)

You can always ask your doctor for a pill for the trip. Most of them are happy to right you a script for a couple of pills if you have flying anxiety. I take a Xanax pre-flight and have no issues...it doesn't even make me sleepy!!

Yes, traffic in and around Boston is a nightmare. With no traffic we can be at Logan in about 15-20 min....but, heading in at 4pm I'm sure it'll be horrendous. Luckily, we live about 2 miles from the braintree Logan express bus so we just park there and let the bus driver deal with the traffic while we enjoy the ride and be giddy about going to WDW!!

If I weren't like 22 hours away and had 2 car hating kids I'd love to drive to WDW - just being able to pack for anything and everything makes it awesome. And the car for Universal will work great too!

Also I'd gladly pay $100 in gas vs my $950 in flights pirate:

So funny... I actually just had an apt today to talk to my dr. about that :thumbsup2 nothing like starting off a family Disney vacation with some pills and booze!:banana:

Oh for sure! It would definitely be a different story if it weren't just me and the roomie. I know how insufferable I was as a kid on long car trips, so I wouldn't wish that on anybody else!

I have a question about FPs... how does it look like? Does it give you a confirmation number like an ADR?

Since I have linked tickets, can I try making an FP and just cancel? It won't affect my FPs on booking date will it??

Oh I would much rather drive! We drove last time, but at 20 hours of just driving time it took us 2 days to get there and the ride home was really baaaaad (sick kid - not puking, but fever and cough, plus we found out on the way home that we had a water leak in our house and would be coming home to a major cleanup complete with blowers all over the kitchen and basement) and I didn't want that again. It cost us nearly $2000 for our flights alone! :(
