***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

Good morning all!
I've been following this thread for a few weeks now, so I thought I'd introduce myself!

I'm Mal, 30, from Mississippi, and my #SpinsterBFF roomie, 32, and I are headed to the world for our first full week this December.

We're staying at All Star Music, standard, checking in Sunday Dec 4th, and checking out Sunday, Dec 11th, right smack in the middle of the potential Pop Warner madness. (Ear plugs are already on the packing list!)

We've got 4 day non-hopper tickets, MVMCP tickets for Dec 6th, and we'll be doing 1 day park-to-park at Universal.

Here's what I've got planned so far:

Arrival Day: Doing online check-in, and possibly a round of mini golf at Fantasia Gardens with our vouchers with some other family staying offsite. ADR at Beaches & Cream at 6:40pm. If finances allow, thinking of reserving a sleigh ride at Fort Wilderness this night too.

Monday Dec 5th: Universal Day, meeting offsite family.

Tuesday Dec 6th: ADR at Olivia's Cafe at 9:20am, followed by morning at Disney Springs. Back to room to change for MVMCP, ADR for Afternoon Tea at GF at 2:35pm, then off to MK at 4pm for the party. We also have an ADR at Be Our Guest at 7pm. More on that overloaded day later!

Wednesday Dec 7th: Epcot Day! ADR at Via Napoli at 5:25 with the Candlelight Processional Dinner Package for the 8:15pm show.

Thursday Dec 8th: Animal Kingdom Day! ADR at Sanaa at 1pm for lunch. Current park closing time is 6pm, so I also have an ADR at Morimoto Asia at 6:45pm in case we want to do any last minute shopping.

Friday Dec 9th: Hollywood Studios Day! ADR at Sci Fi at 11:20am and ADR at Hollywood & Vine with Fantasmic Package at 4:35pm. I also have a 5:40 non-Fantasmic H&V reservation that I originally got when Fantasmic one was nowhere to be found, and I think I'm gonna hold onto it for a bit in case they add a second showing of Fantasmic.

Saturday Dec 10th: Magic Kingdom Day! Pre-park opening ADR at 8:40 for Be Our Guest.

Now to the uncertainties! I'm hoping someone will be my soundboard because my roomie is not a vacation planner. She is very much of the "you-know-more-about-it, just-tell-me-where-to-be-and-what-I-owe" attitude which is nice, but frustrating when you want to make sure you've planned a good trip!

On the 6th, I'm iffy on breakfast just because that day feels jam-packed, even though I did love the idea of breakfast and boating over to the Springs. Tea is a MUST, but I'm also hoping to snag a dinner ADR at Be Our Guest for our last day so that I can cancel the one during the party. I don't want to waste party time when we could do that on Saturday. I've got the Touring Plans reservation finder searching for a Saturday dinner.

On the 8th, I'm thinking of nixing the Morimoto Asia ADR, just because it's kinda halfway through our Disney days, and we may be ready for an early night of rest if the park hours stay that early.

On the 9th, I'm a little hesitant about how close my lunch and dinner could potentially be. 11:20 and 4:35 seems crunched, but if there's only one Fantasmic showing, I would rather have the security of knowing we have a decent seat. Last year on that Friday, there were 2 Fantasmic showings, in which case I'd keep my non-Fantasmic ADR and just do the second show, but I'm kinda thinking because the Osbourne lights are gone, they might stick to one. :/

Lastly, on the 10th, if I do luck into a dinner ADR for Be Our Guest, I'm gonna cancel the breakfast. No need to go twice in one day.

Thoughts? Tips? Am I overthinking? Sorry this was soooo long!

Ok, y'all are killing me with this food porn. I'm trying to lose another 20 pounds before Disney and now all I want is to chow down! LOL

DH and I will probably drink at SW party, and maybe have a drink at CG...other than that we're just not huge drinkers at Disney. Oh, we probably will have some drinks in Epcot too, but we just don't recover like we used to. We went out for my friend's bday this past Saturday and we both had headaches all day yesterday. Getting old sucks :sad2:

I spent like 3 hours last night going over plans again, and doing some rearranging. I'll see if I can get some time tonight to post. :)

Oh wow, those both looks really good too! and this is why I wanted to do this another day! LOL! hmm... or maybe i should just risk Garden Grill at 11:30 and H&V at 4:30. I honestly don't eat too much at buffets (no matter how good the food is and DH always says I never eat my worth)... Hmmm...
I would pair two more basic places like that (i mean basic cuisine) vs. a basic and one where you are looking forward to a specific plated dish on the menu. It's crazy maybe but I'd feel less like I got my money's worth if I couldn't eat the food that I ordered. At a buffet I can eat what I feel like and I don't worry about it. I can't eat enough to eat $40 worth either so I don't even worry about it. I love the variety and that i can cater to my tastes in the moment... plus the character experience.

That's true... I might just go with Garden Grill and H&V on the same day and just enjoy the character experience. Walk from EPCOT to DHS to build appetite too! LOL I'd rather enjoy Coral Reef for all it's worth.

Welcome welcome welcome!!!!

If you've been reading you know I am not short on opinions so here goes:
12/6 - I would cancel breakfast at olivias and maybe just grab breakfast at disney springs. both wolfgang puck express and earl of sandwich serve breakfasts there. Less expensive, quicker, not as bulky as a sit down (you can just get a breakfast sandwich or share a breakfast pizza or something). For tea I would do one of the lighter teas they have for the experience and then save room for BoG at 7. IF you want to see the parade, I'd plan on the second one with this schedule.

12/8 have you considered rather than taking the time to leave the park to go to Sanaa and go back just having dinner at Sanaa and a QS lunch somewhere in the park? if it's a short day you will probably not want to take out that 2-3 hours out of a short day to do that (with travel and everything). If they extend hours a bit you might have to factor in RoL and if viewing that is important to you a lunch package at Flame Tree as was rumored before might be just the thing for you.

12/9 - I think you will be ok with these. I think 6 hours is ideal between meals but 5 hours is probably not bad either if you go a little lighter on the meal. At Sci Fi you could totally just get a shake and an app or something. Actually the appetizer menu is almost more appealing than the regular menu, and Sci Fi is definitely about the experience IMO. I would NOT expect there to be a second F! showing at all. It's an older show and a quieter time of year and even during the busy summer they did one F! and one SW fireworks. I would keep the F! dinner package and not go crazy at Sci Fi and it will be fine.

some people on the dis really hate it but I can't find an external review that isn't from very good to excellent on it. plus the atmosphere is just so disney!

Yes I agree. Plus if we get seated a little late for our 4:30 ADR I wouldn't mind either and we'd probably take our time eating too. :D

I know it is completely counter intuitive but at buffets I load my plates very lightly and take only a one or two bite taste of a lot of things. I probably end up eating more at a regular restaurant where the plate is set in front of me. I think a lot of people are the opposite, they eat more volume at a buffet. I don't need to eat everything, if I feel like an omelette and some fruit and we are seeing the characters, I am good!

I totally agree with this. We're doing Garden Grill 11:30 and H&V at 4:30 so it's gonna be a lot of food

Hmm, I'm sure you'll find something for BOG on the 10th. The problem with the 7pm BOG is it makes it difficult to watch the first parade. We have a 6:20 BOG on the 8th and I'm probably going to cancel because it'll be difficult to get a parade spot especially if the restaurant is running late.

For the 8th, I think you should make the Morimoto ADR on Opentable instead of Disney website so you could change it at any time. (more flexible)

Same here, which is why I find breakfast might not be worth it for us since DH eats less then too. I normally sample a little of what I like and call it quits. So using that premise, I hope we'd be ok with a 5 hour difference in meals! And no snacks that day! LOL!

Thank you so much for the input!!! I definitely think I'm leaning toward canceling Olivia's. I just may wait until a little closer to time.

Switching to Sanaa for dinner is actually a pretty good idea. I just went on and booked a 7:10pm ADR, and so once I see what the final hours end up being and what the Rivers of Light status is, I'll see which one to keep.

You read my mind on Sci Fi. I had already thought, "Hmm if we do maybe the appetizer sampler and milk shakes, I might could still be buffet ready by then!"

Thank you! I really do hope BOG opens up on the 10th. I'd much rather go then! Plus, since I've never seen the Christmas parade before, I'm not gonna lie, I would love the flexibility to watch it twice if I wanted to!

Hi everyone! Have only peeked in a little the last couple days from my phone. My girl had surgery bright and early this morning. She is a former 24-week preemie (4 months premature; weighed 1 pound 7 oz at birth) and spent 151 days in the NICU. As a result of one of her many surgeries as a newborn, she has a paralyzed vocal cord. She speaks with a soft voice and it's had it's challenges throughout the years (she's 17). People who don't know her often ask "Do you have a cold, honey?", to which she usually replies yes so as to avoid having to explain the whole thing! (it's just easier sometimes!) Anyway...the nutshell version is that today she underwent surgery that will help her have a stronger voice. :-) We won't really know the full effects for about a week, but she handled surgery like a champ, is recovering well, and we're all really excited for her! :-)

Have only really skimmed through, but looks like I have LOTS of great stuff to catch up on! YAY!! I just love how active this thread is and how everyone bounces ideas off each other! Real quick though @Lisa F...I am IN LOVE with that back pack! Is it possible for me to get my hands on one?!

Great to know that the surgery went well! Hope she recovers quickly! We're here to cheer her on as well! :cheer2:

Hi there! I have lots to catch up on here, but wanted to say, so thankful your daughter's surgery went well. I know you'll be taking excellent care of her. Try to get some rest yourself. Lots of hugs and wishes for strength and a speedy recovery!

Sending good thoughts to your DD. Please let us know how successful it is! it's funny the things we take for granted.

I will send you a pm about the bag, not sure if I am allowed to post ebay links here but I know I can send it by pm!

wait and see like the rest of us. If they expand hours and add RoL you may feel sanaa in the middle of the day is right. I would just hold off on final decisions until closer to the date when we have a better idea of what is going on.

appetizers and milk shakes sound great to me. that was my original plan before I decided to do DxDDP, lol.
