Do you mind giving me a brief rundown of the tour and your opinion? I am trying to convince DH to do it with me, but he hates tours.
Thanks!
Sure! My experience might vary from others, though, since a ride on the railroad is supposed to be part of the tour but it's currently down for rehab.
The tour lasts 3 1/2 hours. You meet with the tour guide at 9am (just show your tour tickets and park tickets at the gate...it won't count as your EE!) You're shown all the special places that were dear to Walt: his apartment over the firehouse (you don't get to go inside), the Main Street Cinema, even Club 33 (you DO get to go inside, but you remain in the lobby. However, you're allowed to take all the pictures you want, including yourself and others inside that marvelous glass elevator.) Little touches are pointed out to you and explained along the way, like the windows for Elias Disney on Main Street and Fess Parker in Frontierland, the golden spike in Snow White's Castle, etc. You're taken to a performance of The Enchanted Tiki Room, where you remain after the other guests have left to explore the attraction and meet a "special guest." You're then taken to Walt's
other apartment (you probably know what I mean) for a special tour, then you have a private lunch on the enclosed patio of the Disney Gallery. During the entire time, the guide is telling you all sorts of stories about Walt, Lillian, and the attractions you're passing. Included with the tour is a special "A Walk In Walt's Footsteps" pin and, of course, one of the buttons pictured above.
While you're taking the tour, you really do feel like you're walking along with Walt. If you're really into the history of DL, or just want to learn more about the man who built it, I can't recommend this tour highly enough!
