1st Trip to US/IOA-Compare coasters to Dis

DING DING DING.............. i think we have a winner !!

yes, you are correct.
batman at great america was the first for it.

i stood in line (blonde and stupid) for it on its opening for 2 hours and 10 minutes.

only live 10 minutes away from this park.

The Batman at Six Flags Great Adventure was pretty early too, I think it may have been the second (or third?) I remember visiting Great Adventure when I was in Junior High, seeing a multiple hour line. This was right before I became a huge coaster fan, and at the time the wait in line just wasn't worth it for me.

Thanks for all the information! One of the reasons that I'm going to US/IOA is because I find the Disney coasters (except R n R) to be too tame and boring for me at this point. Sounds like I'll have a great time!

I used to live 3 hours south of Great America and remember when Batman opened, seemed so cool at the time. then again, so did the Demon when it opened.

mcbean..........south of great america as in illinois?

aren't you glad you moved out of this area?
tornadoes hit springfield and ripped it apart last night.

spfld is about 200 miles south of chgo.

yup, we moved from the Peoria area, and had friends from there in Orlando this weekend. they were pretty happy to be away from the storms that hit. we were watching the weather channel on and off with them. I hate hurricanes, but tornadoes always terrified me.

I am a Roller Coaster fan myself (member of three Roller Coaster Clubs) and love the coasters at IoA. Mummy is great too at US (but I am no fan of the Studios)

Enjoy, take pictures and share them here

sorry this is :offtopic: ...but WOW!!! I used to live in Bolingbrook, IL. Having THAT wicked weather out there??? jeez........

peoria..........bolingbrook.........yea, i know those places.

i am north of the city on lake michigan. about 3 miles from the wisconsin border/kenosha ws. i lived in the city for years/chgo and glad to be north of it.

i can get to bolingbrook in a little over an hour if i speed and no accidents on the road.

peoria is not a straight shot for me. i have gone thru it when i go to macomb for son in college. i guess peoria would be about 3.5 hour for me due to construction/traffic/ bad cops........

bubba's mom.......i say we move to florida like mcbean did !!
pack your bags girl and let's go :yay:

Sorry everyone that we're :offtopic: here..........
mac~~~
believe it or not...it IS in our plans! :thumbsup2 i SO want to go now..but, we're gonna stick to our plan and stick it out here in PA for only about another 12-14 years....did I say 'only'?? :sad2: I cannot wait to move to Fla.....what keeps you in the great white, cold north?? we're waiting for DS to finish school (he's only in 1st grade :lmao: ) IF, and that's a big IF, we don't hit the lottery first. We want to move to Fla. with little or no mortgage and we'll soon have our house here paid off. Well, by the time we do that, DS will be a tweenager and we don't want to "up and move" with him that age (DH & I both had to do that, and it sucked). So, after the house is paid for, we'll hang here, waiting for him to finish school and just saving and plugging money away so we can move. DH says DS's high school graduation gift is a "FOR SALE" sign in our front yard. :rotfl2: By then, he'll be doing his college thing and we can go south :yay: . So, I can't wait for the day to move to Fla....I wanna live near Disney/USO!!! :cloud9:

why of course !!

i'll pick you up at noon, be ready to roll

after the storms the midwest just went through, you guys deserve some beach time. I'll light the grill, get some beer in the fridge, and fire up the blender. there's a nice breeze coming off the gulf tonight....

sounds good to me mcbean since we are getting snow again thursday morning.

i like mustard on my brats.......just in case you were wondering.

Hey DH and I used to live in Chicago about three blocks south of Evanston, 1/2 a block from the lake with a nice park at the end of our street. We used to go to that park too. We are now in MI where last week the snow was as deep as the trampoline! We leave it up all winter and the kids shovel it off. This is the first year it was as deep as the tramp all the way around. They dug out a doorway and had a giant fort. Very cool. I love the snow and winter time and although I am really looking forward to my vacation in FL coming up I sure would miss my winters if I ever had to move someplace warm. But I seem to be the only one I know who feels that way. Seriously - the ONLY one I know. Everyone else just complains about the cold and snow. For me nothing is better than snuggling up by a warm fire with a big snowstorm going on outside. The look of the snow covered trees. And the snow forts, snow men, snow caterpillars ... I just love winter.
