Lisa, welcome to DIS and feel free to post all you want. That is what we are here for. I will warn you now though, this site is very addictive!
Anyway, I've bid on price-line one time and it was because I read so much about it on this site. I'm assuming you are going to Orlando, of course. Go to Priceline, click on Orlando, click on Disney area (if that is where you are wanting to stay), and click on 4 star hotels. I know the Dolphin, The Swan, and The Wyndham are all four star hotels and all wonderful places to stay. All of the Downtwon Disney Hotels are considered "official Disney hotels." So, place your bid. I've seen people getting the Wyndham for as low as $32. This is AWESOME! Now, I don't know when you are planning on going. But, you can place one bid every 7 days, unless you change the dates or the quality (like down to a 3 star). Now, if your spouse is going, or another adult, you can bid for them as well. For instance, when we went to San Antonio (TX) recently, I placed a bid for a 4* hotel, in my name but the bid was rejected. So, I turned around and placed a bid for my husband for $5 more and the bid was accepted. I've read on this site that some people have placed a bid one week and it was not accepted. Then turned around a week later and placed the same bid and it was accepted. Of course it depends on what time of year you are going. Keep in mind, your credit card is charged immediately. So, make sure it is when you want to go. Don't be scared. It is actually a lot of fun. I am in the process of bidding for a rental car for our Florida trip in May.
Again, ask all the questions you want. I've also found alot of information for Priceline on The Budget Board.
I hope this helps!
