1st Time Reporter Here... Upcoming Engagment Trip with a few suprises! 5 Days to Go!!

Hi Sam! I finally got caught up! You're so lucky that you got that special offer! I hope we're lucky enough to get one of those one day!

I like your plans! As I told you on my PTR - we're going to take your advice for an ADR at Ohana after we watch the fireworks on the beach. I want to hear how that works out for y'all!

Congratulations on your engagment and I can't wait to see your World Showcase engagement pictures. I'm sure your DF will forget all about the pain of the pictures when you surprise him with the baseball game! That's awesome!

I hope y'all have fun and get some things worked out for your wedding. You're so lucky your trip is this month!! I can't wait to hear more!

Thanks for reading it all! I will make sure to take lots of pics when I am there! This trip will be to get a feel for where our wedding will be aslo, so I am excited to see things in person :)

Is it bad to admit I'm a Dole Whip virgin....? :confused3

haha, not at all, next time you are in the world you can change that... I did not have a dole whip until I was in college so your not late loL!

Day 5... the last full day
Ok, so we have made a few small changes (becuase my DF finally gave in to my begging and pleading and is a wonderful, handsome, brilliant man... better not tell him that though, we don't want him getting carried away now!)

Originally we were planning to meet up with 2 of our best friends who live near WDW on this day and head over to Epcot. Well I got an email last night letting me know that they cannot meet up with us:guilty: . Now she told me that the reason they cannot meet us in FL is because... wait for it... they will be moving back home to Boston that week!!:woohoo: I am a little sad we won't get to hang with our best buds in Epcot, but we will get to see them when we get home from the trip so I think it's fair, they have been in FL form 2 years and trying to sublet so they can move home. Well she got a call and is able to sublet now instead of waiting until their lease is up at the end of 09:thumbsup2 . DF and I are very happy our buds are coming home :)

Ok, so that was the original plan, take our friends to Epcot, hit the fun rides, see a show, dinner togther and Illuminations. Standard right? Well since we will not have partners in crime (excpet each other of course) I think we will be able to relax and "hang" in Epcot instead of doing it commando style!

So our New plan is as follows:

8:00am ADR at Kona Cafe (I caved and decided I needed Tonga Toast on this trip) DF has never eaten here, and is not a huge "breakfast" guy, but I told him that he could always get a Dole Whip if he didn't like it lol... this worked. I think he will find some yummy treat for breakfast though... call it a hunch.

Then off to Epcot for a fun filled day of merriment. I want to stop and smell the roses on this trip, literally since it is during the F&GF lol. Also we have so many places we love to eat at Epcot that it hard to pick just one... so now we can snack all day long! I think we will try to do a few rides in FW that we didn't hit on Monday, then go to the WS for opening and relax in the countries. Here are our must haves for food and fun in WS...

1) A glass of Liebfraumilch in Germany, it is a semi-sweet white wine that I love... maybe I will have to bring home a bottle or 2 this trip:rolleyes1 .

2) A Grand Marnier orange Slush from France... yum yum!

3) A pastary from Norway, I like the fruit thing (not sure what it's called though:confused3 )

4) A crossaint from France, we usually save these for the next morning, but sometimes we just split one of the small loaves of bread with our German Wine (nice and hot bread and cool wine is amazing)

I'll be honest here... I am a total food nut in WS! I am the biggest sucker for "something new" and love to indulge at WS... also

DF and I are wine enthusiasts and love a fun cocktail as well... now don't get me wrong, we are not going to be those obnoxious people who cannot stand up after a day at Epcot, but when we don't have to drive, we can both have a glass or 2 and enjoy it without worry (I am a super cautious driver and do not ever drive if I have had a drink).

So there ya go!

Now if we want to venture over to the Baordwalk during the day we can do this too, now that we are not playing tour guide we have some additional flexibility which is kind of nice (I would be more upset if our buds weren't moving home). So we can play that by ear.

Now my Must Do of every trip is seeing Illuminations... not sure why I love that show so much but it always makes me tear up a little (DF usually just looks at me and chuckles because I am such a crier!) so I would like to relax and watch the show with a glass of wine and DF.

Any suggestions for a good place to see them from? I always go all over the place, but thought it would be nice to have a "set" spot this year to end up at...

So you see basically our day will look like this... ride...snack...ride...ride...lunch...ride...snack...ride...snack... well you get the idea lol!
A lot of eating and a lot of rides!
Just the way I like it!:thumbsup2

Id like this sam...snacks are my favorite....

I love the pictures of the ortiz ring...so awesome! lol

You are so much more organized than I I am going to have to learn from you!

Where is the kona cafe And how long do they serve that tonga tost for??

Oh lord, I will be gaining so much weight

love the tonga toast... we make it at home...

How did I miss this?!?! This is awesome! I'm green with envy. :goodvibes

I've only watched it from a few spaces and there are a couple that I read about on the DIS. I've watched from Morocco and I liked that area. You are in the back of the park so we usually take our time making our way out instead of the hoards of people exiting behind us.

mmmm.... fun cocktails and yummy snacks! yum yum.

Illuminations viewing: there's a bridge in front of Italy, I remember it being a nice clear space... you can see everything. Some spots seem to have trees that block the globe and the water features.

Kona Cafe!! I'm jealous - I love the TT!!

As for Illuminations - I feel like whenever I discover a good spot that seems to be empty, by the next trip someone else has discovered it too and has been sitting there for 2 hours LOL. I think the best spot we found was in front of Canada. There were benches and we sat there about 1/2 hour before the show started and then stood on the benches and watched. I like Illuminations but Wishes is the one that gets me every time.

Ohhh I think I have the recpie in one of my Disney cookbooks now that you mention it... I will have to research it later on tonight...

Yes we did see the special, actually the bride who had the couture wedding (Courtney) is A DISer (Kashmir104) and the Wishes bride Kelly (kcampbell) just joined the boards on Courtneys recommendation! So we have had a little inside scoop on the whole thing over on the Weddings and Honeymoon Board! The Kirstie Kelly dresses are amazing! I would have loved to try them on, but I had already purchased a dress prior to knowing about them... oh well! I did get the Krirstie Kelly Snow White Collection Earrings to wear at my wedding though, Snow White is my Fave and the earrings matched my dress perfectly so I had to lol! When you are reay to plan her Disney Wedding you can ask me any questions lol!

At the Poly, its only at breakfast... I think they also have it through Poly Room service and at Captain Cooks Food Court in the Poly as well... It is fabulous, eat there, you will love it Jen! You know if you gain a few lbs at least your wedding will already be over lol! (But I doubt you will, all that swimming and walking, you'll burn it off):thumbsup2

Haha thanks Jennifer! If the sox are away on Mohters Day this year see if they have it again, I thikn it is a ritual now...
I think we have seen it from there as well... I just hate having to sit for hours before to claim my spot! And I am all for avoiding crowds lol!

You are not alone, i do however plan to make sure i don't leave Disneyland in september without trying one though :)

It is a must do for sure! So yummy!

Yes, I have seen it from there as well, I remember being very disappointed that the nearby champagne stand closed at 8:30 and i was left without a glass of bubbly for Illuminations! The last time there was a wedding party having a dessert party there though so we had to keep walking lol! Maybe I will luck out this time...and get my bubbly early!

I have been thinking about that TT so much lately it is becoming unhealthy lol! I totally agree about Illuminations spots! I don't understand why people claim spots before it's even dark, but I guess if your tired it's not such a bad idea lol! I may have to wander over towards Canada this time... never seen it from there and I love new things! Wishes is great too, and thats starts me crying a bit as well... actually most things Disney make me all sentimental lol!

LOL! I can TOTALLY understand that kind of excitement!

:)

I've been having fun reading about your plans. And I can't wait to see the WS Engagement pics! All this talk of Disney Weddings is making wish I was having one!

Haha thanks! I will post pics for sure :) When is your wedding? There are a lot of brides on here who are not having a disney wedding but like to share all their ideas on the wedding/honeymoon board. You should check it out :)

woohooo, must be so excited :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Haha, I love that other Diser's can appriciate my excitement... my colleuge at work said to me this morning "I think you are more excited for this countdown to your trip then the actual trip itself" ... some people just don't get it :lmao:

Oh yeah?! Awesome! I had only looked at a few on the wedding/honeymoon board and thought it was supposed to be Disney related. This makes me happy!

Our wedding is Oct. 16th of this year. We're having it at at a small winery in Southern Illinois. It's very pretty but shhhhhhh don't tell...I still kinda think a Disney Wedding would be awesome! :)

HI!

Some how I thought I had already subscribed to your report! But I found it again and read the last few pages. 18 days? Two weeks and a bit?!?! It will be here before you know it! Your daily planning entries have some great ideas -- you are going to have a great time I am sure!:goodvibes

ahh.. the wedding dessert party at Italy's bridge.. I remember seeing those before. Made me want a Disney wedding so bad.. but it was just not happening with our families, especially with my very traditional Chinese mother. I love her so much, but 2 months before our wedding, she decided no, our wedding was not right... we must have the traditional big chinese wedding banquet, we will shame the family if we don't. haha. I can't believe I'm laughing about it now... it was sooo not funny then. I was so stressed. At the end, it worked out fine. We had our wedding as planned and a smaller chinese banquet(just for my parent's guests) the next day.

I hope your wedding planning will be much smoother then mine! hehe.

SO SOON! I'm starting to pack today! Can't wait to hear how the trip goes - especially the spring training surprise!!

Thanks for finding me again lol! I am so excited to go, it's kind of taking over my life righ now... I made DF watch Pinocchio and Toy Story 1 & 2 this week:lmao: ... good thing he is a good sport!

I went to my friends formal Chinese wedding and it was a lot of fun! It was CRAZY though... there were 600 guests! I, however, was in heaven because they served mai tai's instead of champagne with dinner, which I loved!! Thats crazy how your mom changed your whole wedding a few months before, I would have flipped, glad you handeled it so graciously.

I can't wait!!!! You will be back writing your TR before I start my trip lol! I want to hear you spring training plans too, so much fun!
