1st time disney cruiser, some help?

Hi, I am a big disney fan, I try and keep season passes as often as I can. We had them last year and we went like 8 times, so my husband said no more disney until jan. of 2005, 2 years off, so anyway, I talked him into a disney cruise so atleast I can have my disney, ha ha... we went on our first cruise in december for our anniversary on the soverign of the seas for 4 nights, we really enjoyed it. Now, we are taking my 11 year old daughter and my 5 year old son. He is really excited, so is my daughter. I have a couple of questions. 1) can the adults go on the waterslide at the kids pool. (kid at heart) and my son likes me to do it with him too. 2) we are picky eaters, if we dont like what we see on the menus can we order a regular steak and pototoe? 3) what is the best night to eat at palos, we dont want to miss anything at the regular dining places. 4) is freeport worth getting off the boat, and if yes whats good to see and do there. 5) we loved atlantis and would love to do the waterslides and all but how much is it to check into the comfort suites so you can do it. I know i have more to ask but have forgotten so if and when I remember, I will post back then. Thank you for all your help. Oh one more thing, when is the earliest you can arrive and start the process of getting on the boat, parking, checking in, etc.. thanks again..

I can answer some of your questions.1) No adults on the slide
2) Yes you can get a steak or chicken breast and baked potato if nothing on the menu intrests you,BUT you can order something you MIGHT like, then if you don't like it get the other option.3) look over the menus on Barb or Dave's site and pick the one you like the least. But remember the "show" in AP is something you might want to see.
You can enter the terminal at the port at 10:30. Check in starts about 11:00am, boarding the ship begins anywhere from 12:00 to 1:00.

I can tell you that we did not get off of the ship in Freeport and did not feel as if we missed anything. We used that day to explore the ship, chill out, get massages, saw Finding Nemo, etc. DS was in the clubs from 9-12:30 and both DDs were in their clubs from 9-4 that day!
We did Blue Lagoon so I can't help you with Atlantis either, sorry. But I do know the age for the slide is 4-14.

Actually, the slide goes by height....you have to be 5"4' or shorter to ride the slide...at least that is what the pool rules state. I qualify, but never tried the slide!

I am also a picky eater, and there was always something on the menu that I would try. A couple of times I had to alter it, ie no sauce or something on the side. They were very accomodating.

Any night is great at Palo's. We like to go the last night, because it is a nice way to end a great vacation. Otherwise I would go on Animator's Palate night because that is my least favorite restaurant.

I have only done a 7 day cruise, so I can't help with your last two questions.

I do not know when will be cruising. But, if it is still available, we recently booked a room at the Comfort Suites for $136.50 by calling the Comfort 1-800 number directly, and asked for the LGOLD rate. This is for our upcoming cruise in Sept. The best way to book the Comfort Suites seems to be thru them directly. They have an internet-rate by booking online, it is $175.50.

PS: I am under 5'4"... Could I really try the Mickey Slide!!!

DS would also be happier if were to go up there with him and come down right before or after, at least for the first time....

Is the Mickey Slide commonly open the afternoon of embarkation? We would like to take DS to the Mickey Pool as early as possible to avoid the oncoming crowds!

One thing about the Mickey Slide....you don't really land in the water (the Mickey pool is not very deep, mainly a wading pool), there's a rubber mat at the bottom with water shooting down the slide. My 9 yr.old niece went on it, but a lot of the kids were a lot younger. I think Disney needs to have a slide that teens & adults can use. Just my opinion because I love waterslides & rollercoasters!! Hi Disneyfan5! We love the disney cruiseline -- just returned from our second one last week! We were on the four night Wonder.

It was me, my DH, and DS13. Last summer our DD18 was there too, but unfortunately, a summer job before her sophmore year in college took her out of town this summer.

I saw you had most of your questions answered already, but I had to put my two cents in about the Mickey slide. You are imagining it all wrong -- it is meant for younger children, like 5-12 maybe. The Mickey pool is small, and it is about 2 feet deep. Don't get me wrong, it is cute and all, but s-m-a-l-l. The slide lets out in a separate section, about the size of a wading pool in a backyard. I just can't imagine seeing an adult go down it and fit. My DS who was 12 last summer when we first went, did try the slide once, but felt uncomfortable because he was just about the oldest one there in line. Your 5 year old will love it.

The pool is open when you board, but I don't recall ever seeing the pools empty! The adult only pool is the emptiest. The family pool isn't much bigger than an average backyard size.

As wonderful as the cruise ships are, the pools are on the small side. We saved our swimming for Castaway Cay and the resort when we returned to WDW after our cruise.

Oh yeah -- you can eat at Beach Blanket Buffet up top on deck 9, or a buffet in Parrot Cay on deck 3. First cruise we did the Beach Blanket Buffet the first day, and last week we decided to eat at Parrot Cay -- the atmosphere in there is festive and relaxing.

Thank you all for all the good info, about the pools being small and waterslide not being a big thing, I guess we can live with that, not like we dont live where we have a beach within a few minutes and a pool to use at all times. ha ha. Thanks also for the info on the where to eat for lunch, I was just wondering what yall all that the better of the two was to eat at when we board. thanks again.

I am thinking about a Disney cruise next year but am terrified with my kids because they like to climb. if they climb is there anyway to fall overboard? They will be 5 and 7.
