We are considering renting a car for the first time for our President's Day trip. We would be arrving late on Friday Feb 13th and returning home on a 6 PM flight on Feb 18th. Have never rented a car and have no idea where to start or what would be reasonable prices. Any suggestions or hints more than welcome.
Thank you in advance. By the way, we are DVC members, have access to an Entertainment book, and are AAA and AARP members. There are two of us travelling. Thanks again.

I would suggest you go to www.mousesavers.com - Mary has some of the best information and codes you can use to get discounts.

I used my Sam's Club membership and got a mid-size (grand am or similar) for $170.44. Kept watching and checking, and yesterday used my same codes and saved $34-- now getting the car for $136.00 including an additional driver free and all taxes and fees- (but not insurance).

AARP code is A359800 with Avis. AARP code is 6100120 with National. AAA code is 6100253. I have had a pretty good time last two years getting a better price off the AARP code with Avis at Orlando International. The codes seem to save you 5-15% off rates with no code used. You really should check the rates on rental car websites until you get an idea of a good rate for the car size you want. Keep checking even after you reserve a car and don't be afraid to cancel your first reservation if you find a better price. If you use a code and rent on the internet be sure you have your memeber card with you when you pick up the car. they might not ask for it - but you'll want to be prepared.
