My dh and I are staying at BWV for the first time from 5/12 -5/21...and I am getting very excited.:woohoo:
Is there anything special that I should know about BWV? room requests? special things? What does everyone like about it?

We have been to WDW 50 times and this is our first stay there. We are DVC owners at BCV and SSR and have stayed at OKW also. Never had any luck getting into BWV but it finally came through:). We have a 1 bedroom garden/pool view.

Any hints, suggestions, or just thing you love about BWV would be great!
Thanks

As far as room requests, which view do you have reserved and which room size?

if you are far from the elevators - then look for the stairs. many times they are short cut to just about everywhere.

ask for courtyard view near the bw - that is still a garden view (I think)

My general rules of thumb are:

A long walk to the room, can mean a cool view! Yay!

As a personal preference, I request upper floors.

Take some time to stroll the boardwalk in the evening and watch the street performers. This is a lot of fun. If you're lucky, one just may pick you to play around.

If you like funnel cakes, try one here. These are the lightest, freshest, I have ever tried.

Secret to the clown slide: Sit up to go slower. Lie down to go faster, but watch out for that final turn!!

The bus will probably take longer to arrive than you think, if you are headed to Magic Kingdom, Downtown Disney, or Animal Kingdom. It's supposed to come every 20 mins, but I have never experienced that. But you can't beat the ability to walk to 2 parks from Boardwalk. Studios is a long walk, but you can take the boat instead if you don't want to walk there.

On the boat back from Studios, get off at the Swan/Dolphin dock if you are in a hurry to get back to Boardwalk. It's faster to walk from their dock to Boardwalk, than to wait for the boat to make the full circuit around Crescent Lake.

Book the boardwalk view at least once!

The courtyard view (Village Green) is just studios. For a 1 bedroom pool/garden, your choices are main pool, quiet pool or lawn/canal view facing the Swan (long walk).

Just enjoy!!! ANd Jellyrolls is a must!

Amen. Jellyrolls is an adult only dueling piano bar with fantastic entertainment. It is a must do for us whenever we are there. If we aren't staying at BWV, we schedule a night there anyway so we can easily get to our room at 1AM.

The new washers in the rooms at the BoardWalk Villas have a safety feature. Once you close the lid on the washer to do laundry, you cannot open the lid until several minutes after the wash load is finished. There are no signs or instructions telling you this, so people don't know about it. They try to open the washer too soon, assume the lid is stuck, and smash it open. This breaks a switch. The washer cannot be used again until electricians are called to the room to replace the switch.

If taking the bus from AK, get off at the Swan and walk over the bridge to BWV. Otherwise, you have sit while they drop off at the Dolphin, YC, BC and then finally around to the BW. We forgot this last week, and spent an extra 20m on the bus on our last day that we could have spent at the pool.
Otherwise, enjoy. It is a fab resort.

Good advice - we did the same thing when taking the bus from Downtown Disney. We were advised to get off at the Swan and walk to BWV, which we did, so I don't know the exact order of stops after that.

We loved our stay there and I am sure you will too! My advice is to check out the bakery for their chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. It was soooo good! I don't even remember what view we had but the rooms were great!

bring a book, or just people watch, from the chairs on the lobby's balcony, or the quiet area under the balcony.
go tho the belle vue lounge, have a drink, talk with the bartender, and make new friends with the other guests
walk to dhs at least once. we love the walk to EPCOT, but the stroll to dhs is a beautiful one...:cloud9:
get ice cream cones at seashore sweets and watch the performers, rent a surrey bike, make faces in the funhouse mirror...
play a game of tennis
lots more, but half the fun is discovering all the wonderful BW secrets:cloud9:

We are staying here in Oct. for F & W and have never stayed here before, we have a studio and I think I will be requesting the village green view. Is it noisy there, verses being by the pool. I am on the waitlist for a boardwalk view, if it come through is it noisy there with the people and the boats on the lake. DH is a lite sleeper. I am looking forward to staying here.

Great tips, too bad we just got back. We loved it there, although we honestly spent about an hour in the pool, actually the kids spent it in the baby pool and I didn't even get in. We were busy from the time we got there and were hoping to swim on the last day before our plane left, but it rained all morning. I want to just go back and spend time there relaxing by the pool. Our room was right by the pool between the carousel bar and the clown slide. Never heard a sound. Yes, as others have mentioned you can spend a looong time on the bus. The first day, I dropped rental car off and got a ride to DTD. I swear from the time I dropped the car off at the Doubletree to my room was 1 hour. My poor kids were dying to swim. Have fun!

What good advice, especially about the buses and boat. We are staying at the BWV in a one bedroom with the bw view and are so excited to try out this resort. We have only stayed at SSR and BLT.

Great advice about the buses and boats!

We are also going to the BWV for the first time and are getting a one bedroom suite. We will have our 2 young children with us (they will be 1.5 & 2.5 at the time) and we have requested a higher floor (and :thumbsup2 the wonderful woman that I am renting from called and got it for us) but is there any other advice?

Should I be worried about the sound from the fireworks everynight? Can they be hear from the rooms? We are getting a standard room, so if there is anyone who has a suggestion on a room that she should "request" that would be great!

TIA :goodvibes

SassyLassy...a higher floor is just a request, not a guarantee. I request it every time we book at eleven months exactly, usually two or three times a year, and our success rate is probably around 40%. Good luck.
