We had our 1st DVC experience in mid June. We stayed at OKW in room 6210. It was a studio. It was a great room with the view of the lake and next door to the hospitality house. I would recommend this room. It made it so easy to go the the hospitality house and easy to get the busses. We had no noise from the street, even though we were on the 1st floor. OKW is a beautiful resort. It was very well maintained and very clean. The staff is very accomadating. The pool needed a little cleaning but the staff was working on that while we were swimming.

I wanted to share about a few things that I discovered the hard way. Do not forget that it is very hot at WDW. You will drink more than you could imagine. I am from florida and still was overwhelmed by the heat. The cost of drinks is extremely high at the Hospitality House. I think it was 2.50 for a 20oz bottle of soda and 1.50 for a can. Water for 1 liter was over 3 dollars. Be prepared and buy drinks before you arrive. We spent way more on this than we ever could have imagined.

Disney counter service food have improved greatly in the last 2 years. We bought a pass the allowed us 1 meal with a drink, a bucket of popcorn or an ice cream treat from the street vendors, and 1 other soda for 10.99. The meal alone would be over 9 dollars. This is only availble at the AK. The CM said they were testing this and were going to take it to the other parks soon.

My final remarks want to thank this board for 1 other great tip. TEVA sandals. They made the hot trip very comfortable. They got wet and were not uncomfortable. We walked the parks for 3 days and my feet never bother me. They are pricey, but very much worth it.

Thanks for the trip report. Glad to hear you had a good time!

I have heard about these TEVA sanadals. I have no idea what they look like (even though I have probably seen them somewhere). Does anyone have a picture? Thanks

There are many different styles. Here's a link to their site(including pictures):

That's part of what makes DVC so great - you always have a fridge in the room! We don't make meals much in our room, but always make a grocery store run for drinks, snacks and quick breakfast foods.

Just curious, what was the meal?

The meal was anything from the counter service. I think I had ribs and cole slaw. My wife had BBQ chicken, potato salad, and beans. Not fancy fare, but very satisfying.
