Hi! My first wedding anniversary is coming up in 2 weeks and I'm trying to think of something fun and special to do. We were unable to go away even for a long weekend(which I was disappointed about - hubby's bosses are jerky and wouldn't let him take vacation days now!). We honeymooned in Disney World and had an awesome time! I had an idea to try to do something that would mimick a little mini Disney honeymoon locally, but am stuck for what we could actually do.

Does anyone have any unique ideas? I would really appreciate the help.

Thanks! princess:

Are you able to stay at a hotel in town for a few nights? Maybe you could do some of the fun things you like to do at Disney that don't involve going in the parks - swimming in a fabulous pool, eating at nice restaurants, shopping or clubbing like you would at Downtown Disney....

Are you near a tourist town that might have carriage rides? Or boat rides? Or a narrow-gauge railway? Any kind of unusual, Disney-style transportation - like a monorail (Vegas only :lmao: )

Or what about a Disney movie marathon with all sorts of fun treats - or takeout! Or you could have a local bakery make a small version of your wedding cake (or just the cake flavors and fillings, if the decorations would be too hard to replicate) and you could have a meal like at your reception.

I'd say to think about your favorite memory of the honeymoon or wedding day and figure out what made it special, and then try to replicate that feeling, even if the circumstances are a little different.

Hope this helps! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the ideas! That sure is a great start! We live in the suburbs of Pittsburgh so there's a lot to do around here...nightlife, tourist attractions, etc. I'm definitely going to look into a carriage ride (not sure if there are any yet) or something different like that!

I dug up this link to "romantic Pennsylvania getaways".... :cutie:

This place looks really cool... www.buhlmansion.com

Also, it looks like you have an aquarium, a zoo and some botanical gardens - any of those would be a fun day activity followed by a nice meal and a night in a hotel - but maybe you go to those places all the time. :rotfl:

You prolly know about this site, but heck, it even got me excited about spending an anniversary in Pittsburgh!

Oh! Look what else I found - carriage rides!

..And a Cinderella carriage at a fraction of DFTW's price:

Plus you guys have water taxis - that sounds like fun!

OK, I should probably go back to work... but I'll keep my thinking cap on...
