1963-1964 NY worlds fair

Did anyone see the guy flying around in the jet pack. When you are 4 and see that, he may as well have been the man from the moon. Also how about the dolphin show. The best part was the end of the show. It was sponsored by SUNKIST and at the end of the show the dolphins threw oranges into the stands. It was so exciting when one landed near me. Like a foulball at a baseball game.

I was there! I was around 8 years old and just mesmerized by the whole thing! I remember riding the Sky Ride and my brother, who was about 6, got scared and tried to jump out!:scared: Thank goodness my dad had good reflexes! I also remember IASW and to this day it is one of my favorite rides at DW. The Carousel of Progress is also a fond memory and still one of my favorites too! Ah, to be young again!

I wasn't around but I was born in Queens. My parents went to the fair and they always talk about it with fond memories. My dh's mom worked there and still talks about the first encounter with "Disney". Wish I could have seen it!

We went in 1964.

My parents dropped my (four, at the time) twin brothers off at my grandparents, and took the three older kids; plus, my mom was pregnant with my youngest brother. To this day, the surviving twin complains about that!

I remember Small World; Carousel of Progress will ALWAYS be my favorite Disney attraction; and I recall the Wisconsin pavilion (tent?) because of the cheese...

Did any of you guys go to a little pavilion and sign up for a foreign "pen pal"??
I did that and got some fellow from Norway. Wrote back and forth a few times as I remember..

My mom was there and to this day she still loves COP and Small World because of it. She also enjoys telling the story about her throwing up on one of the bridges! :crazy2:

It was 1964-1965, I was 5 then 6 years old. :lovestruc LOVED :lovestruc It's a Small World, could ride it endless times. Remember going past the Pieta, where you stood on a moving walkway. Remember the aquatic shows with dolphins and water skiers. Me and my cousins lived in Mineola, and Garden City Park, LI (about 20 miles away), my aunt and my mother would take us there a countless number of times. It was really great, and with It's a Small World, I fell  totally in love:love: with Disney Magic. We went to Expo '67 in Montreal and It's a Small World was there too!--it was so great.

Wow Biermugg - thanks for the link to Freedomland. Just yesterday, my DB and I were talking about the World's Fair (he remembers a lot more than I do) and he asked if I remembered Freedomland. He will be thrilled with this website!! (and he lives in Massapequa)

Sorry I missed this post before. I was there stroller-aged but not in a stroller, and all I can remember is crying on the train platform because my feet were so tired at the end of the day. Come to think of it, I may have had the same feeling the last time I was at Epcot . . .

I was there and still can remember the cow with 2 bodys and the sheep with 2 heads...could not stop staring at them and they were even alive.

funny how that is what I remember the most. Did anyone else go into the barn/room with all the strange animals ?

Or was that at Pallisades Amusment park...been to both so cant remeber which had the animals...

I also was a little kid in a stroller who lived right there. I grew up in Woodhaven so we could be there in 10 mins. I can remember little snippets from the World's Fair, most especially the It's a Small World show and just loving the whole idea of being there. My parents and my grandparents took me twice. As I got older, we would revisit the park and of couse, Shea, and I would remember the moments from the Fair and ask my parents about them. Maybe my memories were embellished, but they are fun to think about now!

That was pallisades and the 2 headed cow freaked me out. I swear it turned and looked me square in the eye.
