Day 4
Sunday 7/28/02

We sleep in a little today and awaken to another sunny day and a wake up call from someone other then Mickey (Michael was not sure who it was). We have cereal in the room and watch the Disney Park Channel. After dressing in our swim suites we grab our beach bag and catch the bus to Typhoon Lagoon.

About 1 hr after opening we arrive at Typhoon Lagoon and find a nice table with an umbrella and chairs in the sand. Now it’s time for Shark Reef. Kayla and Michael are a little hesitant at first but the wonderful lady cast member that was giving out the snorkel equipment convinces them that this is something they do not want to miss out on. She even warms their vests for them, which was the magic trick that set us on our way. After a few pictures in our snorkel gear we cool off under the waterfall and then sit on the ledge to listen to the cast member’s instructions. Now it is time to get into the chilly approximately 71 degree salt water. After being used to a heated pool at home and the heated pools here at Disney this is COLD! But it is a sunny day and we get used to the water quickly. Kayla practices breathing through the mouthpiece a couple times while putting her face in the water and she is ready to go. Pulling me buy the hand we start our journey floating across the reef. Mommy looks back to notice that Michael has chickened out and Daddy takes him to the underwater viewing area to watch us. We stop briefly in the island in the middle of the reef and cast member checks on us and tells Kayla what a great job she is doing and asks her if she is seeing lots of fish. Kayla is ready to continue and we see a lot of colorful fish, a couple stingrays and a hammerhead shark. Upon exiting Kayla is ready to go again. Michael has now decided that Mommy and Kayla are having way to much fun without him and he decides to give it another try as long as he can wear his own “froggy goggles” and come up for air instead of breathing with the mouthpiece. The cast member says is fine and we are all on our way across the reef again. We are all having so much fun doing this that we do it 2 more times before turning in our snorkel equipment. The cast members give the kids “high fives” and we are off to our next adventure.

We decide to try the family raft ride. It was fun but does not compare to the one at Blizzard Beach. This one is much, much shorter but we still had fun on it.

Time for a lunch break back at our nice table in the sand. The kids enjoy watching Miss Tilly blow her stack and fruit and PB & J sandwiches hit the spot along with some ice cold water.

For our last adventure of the day we all grab tubes and take a nice long journey in Castaway Creek. Kayla and Mommy share a double tube and Michael curls up on Daddy’s lap in Daddy’s tube. We float around several times while we all have a nice little “cat nap”, all except for Mommy that is….Mommy is in charge of directing all of our tubes around the water falls and all the other places that squirt out that cool water at you. As the afternoon comes to an end we toss our tubes to other’s waiting to float away and pack up our things. It’s time to go back to the room to get ready for dinner.

Arriving early for our 6:00pm Boma’s priority seating we wonder around the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We try out the rocking chairs by the fire-pit and take a nice walk while viewing the animals. There were plenty to see tonight and the giraffes were enjoying their dinner close by. We all saw our first hidden Mickey in the rocks and then made our way into Boma’s. Dinner was wonderful. We enjoyed trying so many flavorful dishes at our table by the window. The kids tried and enjoyed several items as well. The service was excellent and we all left Boma’s wanting to return again. We purchased a few souvenirs in the gift shop, a frame for Aunt Carol and a waist basket for Mommy and Daddy and retired back to the All Stars for the evening in much anticipation for the kids big adventure tomorrow…….

Tomorrow: Pirate Cruise, The fast pass marathon
and Dinner with Pooh and friends……….

I've never tried a WDW water park, but it seems like you are having lots of fun!!!!!

I'm glad you enjoyed Boma - we have been there twice for dinner and really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere of AKL!
