We will be leaving in less than 2 weeks for WDW and we will be taking DS and his friend along. His friend's birthday is midway through our vacation and I would like to take everyone either out for a nice lunch or dinner. He will be 18. Do you have any suggestions? Annmarie

I would say Chef Mickey's, Rainforest, Sci-fi, or 50's PrimeTime. But, you should really ask him before you spring a dinner surprise on him. Those four will probably please evryone in your group.

How about 'Ohana? Lots of protein for two 18 year olds.:D

How about somewhere in DTD? That way you can have dinner and then the kids could go to Disney Quest or Pleasure Island afterward and you guys could get some alone time.

How about a steakhouse? There's Yachtsmen at YC, Le cellier in Canada, Concourse steakhouse at CR or Shulas at the Dolphin. If you go with a restaurant by the Boardwalk there's lots to do there afterward.

Or you could always go to the ESPN cafe on the Boardwalk, there are TV's everywhere, even in the bathroom! They have great appetizers and all sorts of good burgers and stuff, it's fun there.

Thanks for the suggestions. DH said the teens will be just as happy having a burger and fries and Beaches & Cream but I wanted to something special for an 18th birthday. Annmarie

If you are looking for something with good food ( and lots of it) with a nice Disney atmosphere but not to cutesy so as to "offend" the teen boys, I think 'O hana would be great for dinner. It is atmospheric, fun, beautiful, with great views, great food and very filling. It is a bit expensive though.
Whispering Canyon at Wilderness Lodge has some great sandwiches for lunch and, again, not to cutely but fun and nice looking.

Annmarie,

Our son is 22 but when he was home on leave from the Navy last Dec. we took him and his GF to Portobello at DTD. They both loved it as did my wife and I. We've been meaning to eat there for several years, even had PS a couple of times. All 4 of our meals were excellent. This is a nice restaurant for the new "adult" in your family.
