My wife and I just returned from a quick, but wonderful, kid-free anniversary trip.
We flew into SFB on Thursday, June 16. We rented an inexpensive, compact car for about the same cost it would have been to get shuttle service to WDW. By the time we got our car and luggage, it was about 11:45. No time for lunch, so we grabbed a snack and headed to Disney Springs for some quick shopping. While at Disney Springs, we got a text letting us know our room at PC was ready. We dropped off our luggage there and then headed to 'Ohana for an early dinner.
This was our first time eating at 'Ohana and we loved it. The bread pudding was incredible. The service was a bit slow at times, but overall it was a great dining experience. Because it was our anniversary, they gave us a table with a great view.
After dinner, we headed to AK for the rest of the day. It was great being able to stay at that park so late. We had FPs for Jungle Book: Alive with Magic. The show was ok. I know it's a placeholder until Rivers of Light debuts, so I can't complain. On our way out of the park, we also caught the Tree of Life Awakens. It was a nice way to cap off the evening.
On Friday, our actual anniversary date, we headed to Epcot. Had a great time there, and checked out the DVC Members Lounge for the first time. It wasn't anything spectacular, but it was a nice place to relax and cool off for a little bit. We had early dinner reservations at Chefs de France for our anniversary. Our server was great and we got seated in a fairly private area.
From there, we took the boat to DHS. We had dessert party reservations for the debut of Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular. We thought it was totally worth it! We enjoyed the desserts and the view for the show was great. I was blown away by the show. It was sensory overload, in the best possible way.
On Saturday, we went to MK and stayed until about 11 am. We then took the bus back to PC to rest and grab some lunch. For a QS lunch, it was pretty good. When we got back to MK, the weather wasn't great. We got rain on and off for the rest of the afternoon/early evening. We had another great dining experience at Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen. The food was good, and we really enjoyed the interaction with our server. We ate in the S.E.A. room and all of the little decorating touches were awesome.
We finally got sick of the rain and decided to go to the Top of the World Lounge to watch the fireworks. Great decision! I prefer seeing the fireworks from Main Street, but it was nice to be dry for and get some desserts.
We had to head home on Sunday, but we had a few hours before we needed to head out. We had breakfast at BOG and loved getting into a nearly empty MK early. We rode JC and then drove to AK for an 11:30 lunch at Tiffins. This was one of the highlights of our trip. We literally had the entirety of Tiffins to ourselves for our entire lunch. Our server was excellent. We talked all things Disney with her for virtually our entire lunch. She said that with as much as I knew she thought I was a CM. I let her manager know what a great job she did. They both came over to Tiffins from BOG and it looks like they are doing things right there. We had a late breakfast, so we only ordered appetizers, but they were great, too. I would order all of them again. After we finished eating, another server took us on a tour of the different dining rooms. It was great to hear all the stories behind the Imagineers creating this wonderful restaurant. I can't recommend it enough. As a Signature Dining experience, it's pricey, but definitely worth it. There's no reason it should be empty.
We are heading back in October with our son. So until then, I guess it's time to get back to planning!
